We received some really exciting news this week, our applica- tion for a Community Service Tax Credit has been accepted! 1. What are your Federal rights in a nursing home? As a resident of Pleasant View Home, you have certain rights and protections under Federal law that help ensure you get the care and services you need. Pleasant View Home must provide you with a written description of your legal rights. Keep the information you receive about your rights, admission and transfer policies, and any other information from Pleasant View Home in case you and/or your representative need to look at them later.

2. Generally

All residents have the right to equal access to quality care regardless of diagnosis, severity of condition, or payment source.

We have kept our Jr. Volunteers busy this Summer! We appreciate their help and hope they have enjoyed spending some of their summer days with us. Jr. Volunteers will continue to volunteer some in August before they head back to school. We will be having a “Thank You” party for them with lunch in the park and time at the new Inman splash pad. We wish them a fun and successful school year and look forward to seeing here when they come for various school activities throughout the year!

If you, or someone you know, have been wanting to volunteer some of your time but haven’t been sure what you would like to do we would love to visit with you about the various opportunities available at Pleasant View Home. You never know what blessings you will receive when you are the blessing to someone else!

PVH Newsletter – August, 2019 Acts 14:4, 5 NLT

The people of the town were divided in their opinion about them; some sided with the Jews, and some with the apostles. Then a mob of Gentiles and

Jews, along with their leaders, decided to attack and stone them.

“A dark cloud of impeachment has threatened President Donald Trump for many months, with Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, where any such effort to remove him from office would begin, divided about whether to proceed,” so wrote Jan Wolfe and Richard Cowan, in a Reuters article entitled “Send Him Back? What It Would Take for Congress to Im-peach Trump.” Comparing the report of this news article, which appeared on the internet July 22, with the Scriptural account above reminds us that the new “preacher” in town, coming with a new message, may experience a se-vere reaction against him. Yes, he will gain converts; but there will be many who will oppose him.

Paul and Barnabas fled from the town because they felt their lives were threatened; so far, President Trump has given no indication of leaving town, much to the chagrin of his detractors. Because of the nature of our demo-cratic republic, it would be a pipedream to contemplate a presidency without controversy. How comforting it is to know that the sovereign God rules over all authority here on planet earth (Psalm 75:6, 7); may we support His will with persistent earnest prayers.

Chapel services are held each Thursday evening at 6:30 P.M. Following is the line-up of speakers and churches represented for August: 1) August 1, Pastor Charles Kaufmann; 2) Chaplain, with special music by his daughter Margery, on August 8; 3) Zoar Mennonite Church on August 15; 4) Zion Mennonite Church singers on August 22; and 5) Inman Mennonite Church, on August 29.

Recently (June 29) Georgia Darrow, resident at Pleasant Hills, passed on to receive her eternal reward; also passing on were Wilbur Martens on June 30, and Jane Durchsprung, on July 14. May the truth of God’s Word encourage the hearts of the bereaved: “Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus” (2 Corinthians 4:14).

Cottonwood Corner 2019

Calendar Subject to Change

Page 8: E D From the Administrator

Cottonwood Corner

Cottonwood started our July out with cele-brating July 4 in party style! We appreciate our Country and are proud to be Americans! We had a rousing good time playing Penny Ante one day as you can see Frieda, Anna Grace,

Sheri, Wilbur & Don were part of the group. Shop-ping is always on our agenda and Ima

was “caught” in Dollar Tree this month doing a little browsing! She was probably the only one who didn’t spend any money this time!! We had a really good time looking at the beautiful flowers at the Hutch

Juco Gardens! It was a hot day but we did our looking in the morning and enjoyed a lunch then later in the air condi-tioning! I’d say the highlight of July so far was our “Dirt Road Drive”. When we start out in the bus we have no idea where it will take us and we stick to gravel roads! This month we happened to travel “south” and went past some of our resident’s farms. At one point some of the residents asked where we were at and the honest answer was “I have no idea”. We ended up at Burrton eating at The Barn!

If

you like a leisurely Sunday to put your feet up and relax…..so do we! And here’s the picture to prove it! Thanks Ken and Winona for being yourselves!

It has been a hot month for us, so we been doing

crafts and staying inside out of the heat. We did enjoy

one trip, going to the dollar tree and Walmart and

than over to pizza ranch for a nice relaxing meal,

Fannie Mae also saw some friends of hers so she

went over to visit them at the next table. We celebrat-

ed one of the residents Birthday, Carolyn and our

nurse Crista. We have enjoyed our junior volun-

teers,

They have been a big help with our trivia games and

crafts, we made some necklaces and key chains out of

washers, It was a lot of fun. We enjoyed our fourth of

July cookout with hamburgers and hot dogs and all

of the sides. We our needing to know if we have any

family or friends that would like to join us at the fair

coming in September so we can order tickets . Please

call and let me know.

Where did summer go? Hello Fall! July was a fun month for all of us and full of different activities each week. Last month our residents got to show some fourth of July spirit and make some firework can-vas’s to hang on their doors. Fireworks can be a little scary but these were the perfect kind. Our vegetables have been growing like crazy in our Plaza Court-yard. A couple of our residents got the opportunity to attend the fourth of July parade in Hutchinson last month. They enjoyed all the fun things the parade had to offer including tons of candy and popsicles. We will be celebrating Patricia Cohron’s birthday this month August, 17th. We are excited for a little bit cooler weather. We will be going to the bowling alley in Hutchinson this month Monday the 5th. Along with breakfast at Carriage crossing Thursday he 8th and Village Inn Thursday the 22nd. Plaza can’t wait for more fun fall activities to come the next couple months. As always if you have any questions or concerns feel free to call or email me anytime.

August 2019

East View Villa and Estates Activities

Welcome back! Can’t believe that August is finally here. God is so good! We had a great month of July and have a full schedule for August. You can be as busy as you would like or not, your choice. That is what being in the retirement community of Estates & East View Villa is all about. Any new IDEAS are welcome! Our Tuesday Program was a huge blessing. The theme was Patriotic music and WOW did they give us what we wanted! Thank you to Charisse Sprunger, Jason Herndon and Sharena Webb.

This month we tried something new. I am excited about it. Bible Journaling is a new way to express yourself and to bring the bible verses to life and bring out the creativeness in each of us. There is no wrong or right way to go about it. Just let the Lord talk to you and have FUN! Our movie was an exceptional one, “DO YOU BELIEVE”. You can’t watch this movie and not cry, it is so moving and true to life. No matter how many times I see it I always shed a few tears! We have a bus trip planned for Lunch at the Cracker Barrel, Brookville Hotel in Abilene & if time allows we may look around at Eisenhower Museum. A trip is planned to Reno County Market Place, of course trips to Walmart can’t be missed and this month we have Yoder Heritage Days. FUN, FUN, FUN!

Our Tuesday program on the 13th, we are honored to have the “Sweet Adelines” with us. Come and join us at 7:00pm in the PVH Chapel, snacks are served afterwards. Again we will have our POTLUCK the last Tuesday of the month. We will welcome our new Residents and I will have a gift for each of you. Just bring anything you would like. That is the fun of going to a potluck, you never know what you will be eating! We still like to get together at 3:00pm Fridays for our Ice Cream Social. Join us, there are even games played afterwards

Until next time, God Bless You!
