Meeting regarding Swachh Shakti Saptah
On the Nationwide launch of Swachh Shakti Saptah (1st March, 2017 – 8th
March, 2017) a meeting under the chairmanship of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS),
Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation accompanied by Sh. R.S. Jamwal
(KAS), Joint Commissioner (A) and Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, JMC was held
wherein women from different walks of life were participated. During the course of
meeting stress was given on maintaining proper sanitation in their respective areas by
way of putting their efforts and also by motivating the general masses about the
importance of Swachh Bharat Mission initiated by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of
India. Suggestions from women so participated in the meeting in respect of providing
as well as maintaining better sanitation facilities were invited.
During the proceeding of the meeting, the Commissioner, JMC stated that
Jammu Municipal Corporation has started collection of door to door garbage in some
wards of the Corporation and the said scheme shall be started in each ward of the
JMC which would help to provide better sanitation facilities and he added that new
dustbins shall be installed wherever required and every household shall provide
dustibins for separate collection of waste.
During the course of meeting, number of women offered their voluntary services
for maintaining proper sanitation as well as creating awareness among the general
masses about the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Commissioner, JMC further stated that women always play a vital role in respect
of maintaining proper sanitation in their houses and surroundings as well and
Swachh Shakti Saptah is also women oriented week wherein the participation of
women shall play a significant role to motivate the general masses about the
imnportance of sanitation and hygiene. He stressed that more and more women
should come forward for making the Swacch Shakti Saptah a grand success.

JMC SEALS SHOPS AT CHANNI HIMMAT Jammu
On the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS) Commissioner, Jammu
Municipal Corporation Jammu and under the supervision of Sh. R.S. Jamwal (KAS)
Joint Commissioner (Administration), the Enforcement staff sealed two shops Illegally
constructed by Sh. Sushil Kumar S/o Sh. Kishori Lal at Plot No: 286/7 Channi
Himmat, Jammu under section 8 (1) of J&K Control of Building Operation Act, 1988
as the said person has converted the residential building into commercial shops in
violation of the land use of the area from residential to commercial one.
The sealing operation has been conducted with the help of Police Force from
Channi Himmat Police Station and District Police Lines, Jammu.
The Jammu Municipal Corporation once again appeals to the General Public to
refrain from making encroachments and unauthorized constructions / Conversion in
violation of land use failing which strict action as admissible under rule leading to
sealing/ demolition will be taken.

JMC conducts extensive drive to de-silt big nallahs/deep drains at
Nanak Nagar.
On the directions of Dr. Manmohan Singh, (KAS) Commissioner, Jammu
Municipal Corporation and under the supervision of R.S. Jamwal (KAS), Joint
Commissioner (A) an extensive drive to de-silt various big nallahs/deep drains within
its limit was launched keeping in view the ensuing summer season. The drive was
started in Nanak Nagar Nallah in the presence of Sh. Kavinder Gupta, Hon’ble
Speaker, J&K Legislative Assembly by deploying men and machinery in Nanak Nagar
Nallah for de-silting of the same. This special drive will continue so that main/minor
nallahs/deep drains could be de-silted well in time before the onset of summer season
to avoid health hazards and inconvenience to the general public. On the occasion
Hon’ble Speaker appealed the general public to cooperate the Jammu Municipal
Corporation keep the Jammu neat and clean.
During de-silting of Nanak Nagar Nagar, Hon’ble Speaker appreciated the efforts
taken by Jammu Municipal Corporation for initiating the de-silting drive for cleaning
various nallahs/deep drains.
Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC stated that JMC always take
initiative to clean the big nallahs/deep drains before the start of summer/rainy
season so that any loss to life and property be avoided and also appealed the general
public that not to throw garbage, plastic goods and other household material in
nallahs as it is a main cause of choking of nallahs and assured the general public that
JMC will put every possible efforts for mitigating the sufferings of residents of different
areas falling within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation.
Among others Talat Mehmood Khan, Chief Transport Officer along with Transport
Officers and other field staff were accompanied during the de-silting drive.

Commissioner, JMC inaugurated ABC/ARV programme for stray dogs at
Municipal Animal Care Centre, Roop Nagar Jammu.
Commissioner, JMC Dr. Manmohan Singh, KAS accompanied by Dr.
Jaswant Singh, Municipal Veterinary Officer, JMC and Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health
Officer, JMC today inaugurated ABC/ARV programme for stray dogs at Municipal
Animal Care Centre, Roop Nagar Jammu.
While giving detail about the programme Dr. Singh said that the stray dogs
population has increased many folds in the last 3-4 years and JMC was receiving lot
of complaints regarding the dog bites and nuisance created by the stray dogs as such
it has become very difficult for the JMC to handle this situation. Also as per the
Hon’ble Supreme Court and High Court directions and guidelines issued by Animal
Welfare Board of India from time to time killing of stray dogs and their relocation from
one area/locality to another is totally prohibited. Hence we had left no other option
but to outsource this programme for which JMC has invited tenders from the
interested bidders /NGOs and finally we had entered into an agreement with a Nasik
based NGO for execution of ABC/ARV programme of stray dogs in all the 71 wards of
JMC for a period of 02 years.
The Sterilization of stray dogs will be carried out wardwise and after
sterilization, anti rabies vaccination and post operative care for 3-4 days these dogs
shall be dropped in the same area /locality from where they are lifted up and for this
purpose the said implementing agency has deployed its trained doctors, Paravets and
dog catchers which shall carry out the whole procedure in a humane and scientific
manner and as per the guidelines given in SOP module issued by AWBI. Quick
response teams has also been constituted to attend the complaints of general public
regarding the sick, injured, aggressive stray dogs and dog effected with or suspected
for rabies. ABC/ARV monitoring committee shall also be constituted to lookafter the
effective implementation of this programme. Those who were present in the inaugural
function include Dr. Sagar Ghadage, representative of NSPCA, Dr. Shah Nawaz and
other staff members.

Two days workshop on Smart City Mission
The Housing and Urban Development Department of J&K State is organizing a
two days workshop on ‘Smart City Mission’ for Jammu and Srinagar cities at Hotel
Radisson Blu commenced on 8th March 2017. The workshop is being held under the
chairmanship of Sh. Hirdesh Kumar Singh, IAS, Commissioner /Secretary to Govt.,
Housing & Urban Development Department, wherein Dr. Manmohan Singh, KAS,
Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Dr. Shafqat Khan, Commissioner
Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Sh. R.S Jamwal, KAS, Jt. Commissioner (Adm.),
JMC, other officers of JMC and officers from various line departments both from
Jammu and Srinagar cities are participating.
On the inaugural day of the workshop, proposal of Jammu city prepared by
M/s Voyants Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was put to threadbare discussion. The participants
discussed the various components of the proposal including massive participation of
citizens and all stakeholders through various modes, importance of historical places
and monuments in the smart city proposal, PAN city projects such as solid waste
management, clean and green city, clean environment, mass rapid transport system,
vision focusing on tourism, trade, heritage and convergence, categorization of projects,
duration for their completion, finance and implementation framework, source of
revenues, sanitation, water supply, smart parking, innovative use of open spaces by
way of green patches, wall paintings, bio-toilets, open gyms etc.
Commissioner/Secretary to Govt. HUDD, J&K State directed all the participants to
share the information relating to projects which are under
consideration/implementation level or at the final stage.

Distribution of Dustbins by Jammu Municipal Corporation
Continuing the efforts for the grand success of Swachh Bahart Mission today
22/03/2017 on the instructions of Dr. Manmohan Singh, (KAS) Commissioner,
Jammu Municipal Corporation Sh. R.S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (A), JMC, Dr.
Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, in the presence of other sanitation staff of Health Wing
distributed dustbins in the market opp. science college Jammu. On this occasion Sh.
Ashok Gupta President of market Opp. Science college Jammu was also present
alongwith their other association members.
Speaking on this occasion Joint Comm. (A) JMC apprised the markets
association that the sanitation of those areas where the dustbins were earlier provided
has been improved too many folds. So the Jammu Municipal Corp. has decided to
provide more dustbins in other markets and residential areas also under Swachh
Bharat Mission
The Joint Comm. (A) JMC appealed the shopkeepers to collect the garbage of
their shops in these dustbins and the Safaikaramcharies of this areas will collect the
garbage or disposed in the nearby containers / dustbins instead of throwing out of
their shops. If anybody found shall be strictly dealt under the provisions of Municipal
Corp. Act 2000.
The shopkeepers associations appreciated the steps taken by Jammu Municipal
Corp. to make the Jammu clean and green they also assured their full cooperation to
the Jammu Municipal Corporation.

Commissioner, JMC inspected Developmental works of Corporation.
Dr. Manmohan Singh (KAS), Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation
conducted an extensive tour of Jammu city and inspected the ongoing works of
corporation like Shopping Complex Sahahidi Chowk, Pedestrian pathway Project
under AMRUT at Peerkhoo, Rehari Nallah Phase-II adjoining MAM Stadium, Drainage
Project from Pawan Ice Cream to AG Office, Up-gradation/construction of drainage
from Kamla Place on words, construction of drainage from Top Sherkhania, Sarika,
Sarika Vihar, Municipal Park Paloura and Kleeth Municipal Park at Hari Market.
Besides, drainage problem of inhabitants of Ward no. 14 Bhagwati Nagar,
Anand Nagar and Muthi Camp area were also discussed with local residents and
assurance was given by Commissioner for redressal of the same at priority.
Instructions were given to technical field staff to properly monitor the quality of
work during execution and ensure projects are completed in time.
Among others Joint Commissioner (W), Sh. Kushal Chand, Executive
Engineer(T), S.K. Walli, Executive Engineer (C), Sh. Prabodh Sharma, Executive
Engineer (UEED), Sh. Rajan Sharma, Chief Transport, Er. Talat Mehmood Khan and
other staff from the Corporation were also accompanied the tour with Municipal
Commissioner.

today Dr. Anita Salgotra, Health Officer, in the presence of other sanitation staff of
Health Wing distributed dustbins at Bahu Fort Market in view of holy Navratras. On
this occasion President of Bahu Fort Market Sh. Pawan Kumar was also present
alongwith their other association members.
Speaking on this occasion Health Officer JMC apprised the markets
association that these dustbins are being distributed under Swachh Bharat Mission in
order to improve the sanitation of the Bahu Fort Market area near Darbar.
The Health Officer JMC also appealed the association members to
cooperate with Jammu Municipal Corporation and the shopkeepers were directed to
