The person in this position will be expected to have the ability to teach all levels of high school physical education in addition to coaching varsity girls’ sports and/or cheerleading. P.E. Teacher/Varsity Girls’ Sports and/or Cheer Coach General Duties: To develop in each pupil an understanding of the relationship of good body function and exercise and to develop strength, skill, agility, poise and coordination in individual, dual and team physical activities and sports, in accordance with each pupil’s ability. Works cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning a balanced physical education program and supervises locker room before and after classes and/or games. Cheer Coach and/or varsity girls’ coach will supervise all aspects of the cheerleading squad and/or teams, including tryouts, games, fundraisers, summer camp, dance routines and stunts. CPR/First Aid Certified required. Must possess or be willing to be certified as a CPR/First Aid Instructor and W.S.I. Instructor. Qualifications: Must have a physical education credential; CLAD certification; classroom teaching or student teaching experience; works well with high school age students; demonstrates life-long learning skills; high, consistent expectations for student achievement and behavior. Please Note: Varsity girls coaching experience is required. Candidates with high school & above coaching experience will be given preference. Starting Date and Work Year: August 12, 2016 (186 days) Salary & Benefits: Appropriate placement on certificated salary schedule. Separate stipends for Masters and Doctoral degrees. Medical, dental, vision, life insurance paid for employee. The District grants up to ten years of prior teaching experience.
