OCTOBER 2014 JANUARY 2015 One of the first step for a successful project is the creation of a solid working team. To do so, the partners discussed regularly about EUROASI, through various communi- cation tools, emails, social networks and constant online meetings, other than face to face, whenever was possible. These exchanges continued until the end of the Project and to allow every partner to give contribution with ideas and suggestions. As a preliminary step, every partner had to undertake a work of research, collection and comparison of data on the youth sector in every country involved. The partners collected information on the global picture of Non Formal Education in their countries; on the extent to which Youth Mobility programmes and opportunities are known and exploited by local youth and local associations; on Active Participation, to understand the level of cooperation between policy makers, business sector and youth groups and on Young People Needs, what they are and how to tackle them. By comparing the results of these surveys the partners came up with the guidelines of EUROASI, the trainers shaped the contents of the trainings on the field and a summary is created. During the 4-day meeting in Cagliari (Italy) the partners planed in details further steps of EUROASI. The representatives from each organisation, Nigel (One Media Boracay, Philippines), Aini (Act Global, Indonesia), Patricia (Synergia, Portugal), Peter (Kud Plac, Slovenia), Duncan and Clive (TDM 2000 Malta), Luca (Associazione TDM 2000, Italy), Angelica (TDM 2000 International, Italy, Project Coordinator), gave their contribution with ideas and proposals. An International Open Conference with the participation of local authorities took place on the 5th to present the Project to the public. Each country involved in the Project organized a local conference to inform the community and of the launch of EUROASI, its purposes, its future activities and its expected impact. It was the first occasion to spread the news about the trainings on the field and the youth mobilities foreshadowed by the Project, and to meet future participants and public and private stakeholders. Starting from March 2015 a selected number of participants in Indonesia and the Philippines had the chance to learn from expert trainers on 5 topics related to youth field. • March/April Boracay - Denpasar Youth NGO Management • May/June Boracay - Denpasar Project Writing and Management • August/September Boracay-Denpasar Human Resources Management • November/December Boracay - Denpasar Visibility and Dissemination and Financial Management The participants were local youngsters, members and representatives of youth NGOs, youth people working in the public sector and young entrepreneurs. Each module lasted 21 days; after the training in the field the learning process continued with a Short Accompanying Period: one month during which the trainers interacted with the participants, to monitor their progress and keep up their motivation and involvement through an online E-learning platform. Through this platform, trainers and trainees stayed in contact to evaluate on a regular basis the knowledge acquired and to analyse the results of the previous face to face training. The EUROASI Skill Bank is an online platform that contains the profession- al profiles of local people, NGO workers, professionals and participants. Thanks to the Bank they can show their competences, both the old ones and the ones acquired participating in EUROASI. The aim of the platform is to collect in one place the skills and the talents of the people involved in the Project, and allow the exchange of consultations and services among associations. The EUROASI Digital Library is an online platform that contains the manuals resulting from the trainings and other useful learning material, mainly on the topics addressed during the trainings and on related subjects, for everyone to download and share freely. A 2 - day Mid Term Evaluation meeting took place in Gozo (Malta). During the meeting representatives of the partner organisations assessed the work done and discussed the further steps to take, taking especially into account the upcoming mobility activities. The representatives involved were: Marlo (One Media Boracay, Philippines), Patricia (Synergia, Portugal), Luca (Associazione TDM 2000, Italy), Bojan (Kud Plac, Indonesia), Duncan (TDM 2000 Malta) and Angelica (TDM 2000 International, Italy, Project Coordinator). 8 youngsters from Indonesia and the Philippines had the opportunity of collaborating with 5 European organisations by “shadowing”, or learning while observing and working along the regular staff, how to successfully run a youth NGO. They were actively involved in the activities of each hosting association and met the local stakeholders during a 21 - day long full immersion into the everyday work of a well-established youth NGO. Specific meetings were organized with local actors to allow the participants to deepen their knowledge of what they had been learning throughout the Project and to experience a different take on their areas of work and interest. Noventy (Indonesia) had the chance to work with Synergia (Portugal); Leni (Indonesia) and Cecilia (Philippines) with Kud Plac (Slovenia); Liza (Philippines) with TDM 2000 Malta; Ida (Indonesia) and Tara (Philippines) with Associazione TDM 2000 (Italy); Marlo (Philippines) and Hudri (Indonesia) with TDM 2000 International (Italy). In 2015 and 2016, the Filipino and Indonesian partner organisations implemented a series of local activities together with local stakeholders, municipal administrator and politicians, members of NGOs, Chamber of commerce and private entrepreneurs, to address a wider target of people and extend even further the reach of EUROASI. Conferences, round tables, infodays and open meetings were held to discuss and focus on different issues such as importance of youth mobility and active participation, recognition of non formal education, regulation of NGO and third sector at local level. EuroAsi is a realization of a long-time dream to travel the world. I never expected that my rst country outside the Philippines would be part of Europe. The opportunity even became more meaningful for it is done for a greater reason – volunteer work. The whole EuroAsi experience: from the year-long training in the island, the challenging visa application process and nally, the three-month EVS in Portugal all enabled me discover more about my strength, weaknesses and capabilities – both professionally and personally. While it is challenging to live thousands of miles away from home, it felt so

good to discover a dierent culture while also sharing mine. Though EuroAsi is

about to end, its impact will forever stay in me.

Reza from IndonesiaEVS in Cagliari (Italy)

EuroAsi is denitely one of the great opportunity that I think most of young people in Europe and Asia deserve to have and experience, not only for their professional development but more than that, also this is a great chance to get a life-time learning experience for their personal development which would be really useful to shape a better future,

especially when we already live in this globalization era, when everything seems

to become more and more border-less.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tara from The PhilippinesJob Shadowing in Cagliari (Italy)

EuroAsi has made a major impact in my life. I had the great opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and travel to another country where I've never been before for volunteer work. I learned a lot of things about how NGO’s work in other countries and all the hard work that goes into it. A lot of good challenges but it was fun working in a team with people and ideas from dierent parts of the world! The best part about this program was meeting new people, learning about their dierent cultures, exchanging new ideas and making lots of new friends and

connections. Hosting organization treated me as family and I hope that one day I can go

back and see my Italian family in Sardinia once again!

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Daniel from IndonesiaEVS in Cagliari (Italy)

This adventure contributed to my personal and professional growth. I stepped out from my comfort zone, travelled to another country which is super far from my homeland, met new interesting people with unique culture and shared ideas. My EVS has been an amazing opportunity to learn from ordinary life and develop useful soft skills. I went back to Indonesia, I got back to my routine as a student but I’m dierent: I am more involved in my

local community as an active citizen. I now give a contribution to society and of course I’m

more condent with myself.

Leni from Indonesia

Job Shadowing in Metlika (Slovenia)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Euroasi gave me amazing opportunities, new skills and knowledge about NGO Management, through the training courses for one year and then observing with the host organization in Slovenia. When I did the job shadowing, I wanted to stay longer than 3 weeks to experience deeply local reality and how NGOs applied what we have learned during the training courses in their daily work. The Euroasi experiences are very great, as I could expand the networking, made new friendships, got some

inspirations and ideas to create new projects for my community here in Indonesia.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jerry from IndonesiaEVS in Braga (Portugal)

I believe that everything happens for a reason and last year my life completely changed when I met Act Global and had a chance of taking part in Euroasi project. I attended the training modules and that’s how I learnt a lot about NGO. After completing the training course I was selected by Euroasi to do my EVS in Braga, Portugal. At rst, I felt surreal and was ecstatic. I was in Braga for 3 months and worked together with SYnergia. I made lot of activities with children and before to leave the country I asked them to make some postcards which contain messages for Indonesian kids to preserve the environment. Now I am back to

Indonesia with more experience and condence. Thank you Act Global and TDM 2000

International for giving me this amazing chance.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chanieli from The PhilippinesEVS in Metlika (Slovenia)

My participation in the EVS program in Slovenia as part of the Euro-Asi project is by far, the best experience of my life. I got to see some of Europe’s most beautiful cities, experienced a very dierent culture, opening my mind and deepening my understanding of people, myself, life and the world. I learned a lot, made lots of friends from dierent cultures and backgrounds and gathered a lot of memories to look back on. Lastly, this experience has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for me –opportunities and options and even passions I never

thought I had. So this has brought about in me a new-found drive to seek out more

adventures, to really take part in the causes I care about,

and to live a fuller, more colorful

life.
