What is E-Verify?

E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information from an employee's Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to data from U.S. Department of Homeland Security and Social Security Administration records to confirm employment eligibility

Employment Authorized The employee's information matched with DHS and/or SSA records. It's that easy!

SSA or DHS Final Non-confirmation E-Verify cannot verify an employee's employment eligibility after the employee has visited SSA or contacted DHS.

DHS No Show The employee did not contact DHS within the eight Federal Government working days.

Error: Close Case and Resubmit This case cannot continue because the expiration date entered for the employee's U.S. Passport, Passport Card or driver's license is incorrect. This case must be resubmitted in E-Verify.

Knowledge Test

• Must receive 70% or above to pass • Fill in, Multiple choice & true/false • Examples:

– You may not terminate, suspend, delay training, withhold or lower pay or take any other adverse action against an employee based on the employee's decision to contest a Tentative Non-confirmation (TNC) or because the employee's case is pending with DHS or SSA.

– When you receive a case result of 'Case in Continuance,' you can terminate the employee because SSA and/or DHS need additional time to review the employee's case.

– An SSA or DHS Final Non-confirmation case result means that E-Verify cannot verify an employee's employment eligibility; you should now close the case.
