The Board of Directors has approved proposed changes to the CCAS Constitution and Bylaws, which will be voted on by those in attendance at the Annual Meeting:

CCAS ConstitutionARTICLEIII-MEMBERSHIPThemembershipofthisorganizationshallconsistofthefollowing:(1)dulyregionally accreditedCollege,Schools,andDivisionsofArtsandSciencesthatgrantthebaccalaureatedegreeand(2)suchinstitutionsororganizationsasmaysubsequentlybeadmittedunderprovisionsoftheBylaws.InstitutionalrepresentativesarethosewhohaveprimaryresponsibilityforoverseeingprogramsandcoursesintheArtsandSciences.

RATIONALE:Theissuehasbeenraisedastoeligibilityofinstitutionsthatmaybeaccreditedbyarecognizednationalbodybutnotbyaregionalaccreditingassociation.TheBoardofDirectorswishestoclarifythattheintentofthiswordingisthatmembersmustbefrominstitu-tionsthatareregionallyaccredited.

10.StandingCommitteeonGenderIssues.AmongitsfunctionsshallbetooverseeandsustaingenderequityinitiativesandtoensurethatgenderequitycontentisinfusedintoCCAS’profes-sional-developmentprograms.

RATIONALE:AspartofitscommitmentintheNationalScienceFoundationADVANCE-PAIDgrant(PromotionInstitutionalTransformationthroughaNationalDean’sOrganization),CCASagreedtoestablishastandingcommitteeongenderissues.Inadditiontothetasksoutlinedintheproposedamendment,thiscommitteewillberesponsibleforproposingpanelsfortheannualmeeting,orga-nizingtheGenderIssuesbreakfast,andattendingtoLGBTQissues.

Those attending the Annual Meeting in Montréal are eligible to cast ballots (one per institution). Ballots are due by 9:00 a.m. on Friday, November 4.
