I had a fantastic time spending Christmas with my husband and beautiful girls. Watching them open gifts on Christmas morning makes all the late nights wrap-ping totally worth it (who doesn’t love spending hours to wrap gifts only to have them ripped open in minutes). We had a great Holiday luncheon in December. Thanks to monies the organization was able to raise over the course of the year, we were able to make significant donations to three very deserving non-profit organizations: Children’s Hospital Oakland; Bay Area Crisis Nursery; and Shelter Inc. All of the charities we very appreciative of the dona-tions and that’s thanks to all of our

members. Without you this would not have been possible. It was nice to hear from each charity how the money was going to make a difference.Coming up to start the new year, East Bay Claims Association is excited to host our first ever “Kick Off Party”! Join us Thursday, January 7th at Lazy Dog Restaurant in the Willows Shopping Center, Concord from 6-10pm. A big THANK YOU to our sponsors CRDN, Paul Davis Restoration and PW Stephens for helping to make this event possible. This will no doubt be a fun and relaxed opportunity for our members to get together. I hope this is the first of many social events for EBCA. We will also start the new year with our January luncheon, which will be held on the second Wednesday of the month, as usual, January 13th. We are pleased to be able to continue to meet at Zio Fraedo’s in Pleasant Hill, and welcome guest speaker Joseph Fenech, with Low, Ball &Lynch, who will be giving us the annual Legal Review. The December Holiday Charitable Organizations Luncheon for EBCA was featured: Sister Ann Weltz, from the Bay Area Crisis Nursery; Tina Evans from Oakland Children's Hospital; and Theresita Gonzalez from Shelter, Inc. They each addressed the membership, sharing information about their respective causes, and received checks from out-going EBCA President, Joe Baughman.Ms. Gonzalez, spoke about how Shelter Inc. assists needy homeless people. Her first example was about a 38 year old man with two daughters who had lost his 37 year old wife to cancer. They helped him stay in his house and with the wife's $3,000 funeral expenses. She said “we have an ‘Adopt a Family’ program for Christmas”. Shelter, Inc has a house in Martinez that serves as a Shelter for twelve families right now. To donate to Shelter Inc. directly, call 925-957-7561.The Speakers all said "we are very thankful and grateful for your help.”The 50/50 Raffle $106.00 drawing was won by Joe Baughman and he gave it back to Sister Ann. Joe told the group that EBCA gives $10,000 a year to charities. Baughman also said that EBCA also received a thank you letter Contra Costa Food Bank, in ap-preciation for the 140 pounds of food donated by the EBCA, which equated to 117 meals. Please renew your EBCA Membership now for 2016.

“Celebrating EBCA CharitableNon-Profits”
