Today I Learned… Today I learned about when Jesus prayed for God’s will. I also learned about prayer and how to pray.

Memory Verse: He said, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup of suffering away from me. But do what you want, not what I want.”

Luke 22:42

Questions to Ask: 1. What is prayer?

2. What did Jesus pray to God about?

3. How do we pray?

4. Who can we pray for?

Family Time:

Review with your child the memory verse everyday. Discuss with your child what prayer is. Read “Our Father” prayer with them every night. As a family decorate an empty tissue box and make it your “Family Prayer Request’ Box. Each member can put a prayer request in it daily and as a family pray over it daily.

My Prayer Book This craft is to remind children what prayer is and how we can learn from Jesus how to pray. It will al-so serve as a guide when they want to pray at home.

Material:

(1)File folder per child

(5)pieces of construction paper per child

Hold puncher

String, yarn or ribbon

Glue

Crayons or markers

Scissors for each child

(1)set of printables for each child

On the cover page trace the child’s hand or stamp with paint.


My Prayer Book Instructions:

1. Chose whether you want the ready made prayer book or the prayer book where children will cut out the pic-tures provided and paste them.

2. I suggest to have the books prepared ahead of time when you have little ones and do not have a long period of time.

3. Place all the pages needed in order and hole punch.

4. Line up the holes inside the file folder and hole punch the file folder.

5. With the yarn, string or ribbon, tie the book in place on the inside.

6. You are ready to teach your lesson as you go through the prayer book.

7. Remind the children the importance of prayer—to ask God to do what He wants in their lives.

Family and Friends

Draw a picture of your family and friends.


Our leaders and teachers Color the pictures of your Pastor and Sunday school teacher. Write the names of other teachers or leaders.


Our Country and Government Color the pictures. Ask God to help those who make the rules for our country to ask Him for help.


The Sick and the Poor Color the pictures. Ask God to heal those who are sick and help those who are poor; those don't have a home to live in or food to eat.


Missionaries Color the pictures of the different continents where missionaries are serving God, preaching the Gospel and helping those in need.
