Always Easter

You say it happened long ago

And in a far-off land,

Where men and women spoke a tongue

I would not understand?

Centuries have come and gone

Since that triumphant day,

The quiet garden where He walked

Is half a world away?

He walks in every garden, friend,

And every rock-sealed tomb

Opens beneath His shining hand

As springtime flowers bloom.

For every dawn is Easter dawn;

On every sunrise hill

The earthbound glimpse eternity

And meet the Master still.

—Grace V. Watkins

*Welcome Reverends Parker Benson, Matt Parker

*Invocation Reverends Michele May, Debbie Huckaby

Processional Hymn Christ the Lord Is Risen Today

Christ the Lord is risen today, Alleluia! Earth and heaven in chorus say, Alleluia!

Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia! Sing, ye heavens, and earth reply, Alleluia!

Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia!

Death in vain forbids him rise, Alleluia! Christ has opened paradise, Alleluia!

Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia!

Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia! Once he died our souls to save, Alleluia!

Where’s thy victory, boasting grave? Alleluia!

Soar we now where Christ has led, Alleluia! Following our exalted Head, Alleluia!

Made like him, like him we rise, Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia!

Scripture Reading Rev. Parker

1 Corinthians 15:1-11

Morning Prayer Debbie Huckaby

*Hymn Because He Lives

God sent his Son, they called him Jesus;

he came to love, heal, and forgive;

he lived and died to buy my pardon,

an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

[refrain] Because he lives, I can face tomorrow;

Because he lives, all fear is gone;

Because I know he holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because he lives.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby, and feel the pride and joy he gives; but greater still the calm assurance,

this child can face uncertain days because he lives. [refrain]

And then one day I’ll cross the river; I’ll fight life’s final war with pain;

and then as death gives way to victory, I’ll see the lights of glory and I’ll know he reigns. [refrain]

Special Music Sydney Belville-Moore

Homily Rev. Benson

“If Christ has not been Raised…”

1 Corinthians 15:1-26

*Closing Hymn Up From the Grave He Arose

Low in the grave he lay, Jesus my Savior,

waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord!”

[refrain] Up from the grave he arose,

with a mighty triumph o’er his foes;

he arose a victor from the dark domain,

and he lives forever, with his saints to reign.

He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

Vainly they watch his bed, Jesus my Savior;

vainly they seal the dead, Jesus my Lord! [refrain]

Death cannot keep its prey, Jesus my Savior;

he tore the bars away, Jesus my Lord!

[refrain]

Fun with Crocheting meets on Wednesdays from 9:00 - 10:30 a.m.

in room 128. Everyone is invited for fellowship and to this growing

ministry of making chemo hats, Trail Ministry hats, premie

blankets, and prayer shawls. No experience necessary. Another

letter was received and is another affirmation that lives are being

touched.

Dear Crochet Group

I am writing to thank you for a beautiful hat I received at a

Trail Magic Stop while hiking the Appalachian Trail. It was

just what I needed to keep me warm on those cold nights.

Every hiker I ran into with one of your hats could not stop

talking about how wonderful it was to have been given such a

thoughtful gift. There were many group photos taken with

everyone wearing their hats. In addition to the hat I would

also like to thank the kind men that served us drinks, snacks,

supplies as well as good conversation. I experienced first

hand the southern hospitality that I had read so much about.

Your kindness touched me and many others. Thanks again

and God bless you.

Sincerely, Anna Bridges.

For information about the Crochet Group, please contact Joyce

Corbin, 770-867-3709 or June Baggett, 770-868-0273.

Ghana Ministry

Thank you church family for your love and support in so

many ways of the ministry in Ghana. The first photo is

our team: US. and Ghana. This was taken after a hike

up a mountain. The second photo is from our Sewing

and Crocheting school. This crocheting school started

several years ago by the 14 year old girls. Since 30-40

people attend classes three days a week (for 6 months)

and we only have 12 sewing machines, they rotate be-

tween learning sewing and crocheting.

Again, thank you for your prayers and financial support.

BUILDING A HEALTHY CHURCH ONE TIP AT A TIME

The Easter Bunny is smarter than

we think. Chocolate is made from

cocoa beans which contain

flavonoids; antioxidants that protect

the cells in your body from

damage. Studies have shown that

eating a small amount of dark

chocolate daily can decrease blood pressure and may

help protect against cardiovascular disease. The higher

the cocoa concentration, the greater the health benefit.

What should I do? If you want to eat the healthiest

chocolate choose one that is made with a minimum of

60% cocoa solids. This chocolate will also be lower in

calories, fat, and sugar than milk or white chocolate.

9:30 Worship Service This lite-contemporary service is a good way to begin your Sunday morning! Our Praise Band plays a variety of good music including folk, country, rock, and gospel. Our service is spirit-filled and energetic, yet relaxed and welcoming. Dress is casual and the STARS Café is open before and after. Make yourself at home.

11:00 Traditional Worship Service Come and experience the time-honored traditions and practices of historical Christianity in one of the most beautiful sanctuaries in North Georgia. Our sanctuary exudes holiness and the Holy Spirit can be felt as one enters the room. Please enter in reverence but worship with all your heart as we enjoy the great hymns, creeds, and traditions of our Christian faith.

Rev. Matt Parker, Associate Pastor 404-538-2567 cell [email protected]

11:00 Contemporary Worship Service The 11:00 Contemporary Worship Service helps people connect with God and celebrate all that God has done in our lives. The prayer for this worship experience is that those who worship with us may join together in one voice and one prayer as we praise God. Our time of worship includes singing contemporary music and listening to a scripturally based message.

Rev. Michele May Pastor of Discipleship & Families 706-201-5063 cell [email protected]

11:00 Children’s Church GROW But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18 Through our GROW ministries, persons have opportunities to deepen and grow in their relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Through Bible study, prayer, worship, and small group fellowship, persons are able to understand more fully what it means to love God and love our neighbors. Individuals are able to discover how God has uniquely gifted them to serve, both within and outside the church.

Debbie Huckaby Pastor of Congregational Care 706-296-0665 cell [email protected]

8:30 Holy Communion Service A 30-45 minute worship service meets every Sunday
