Eastern European Mission Report
Following is an excerpt of a recent email from Bob Burckle, President of
EEM, to the board members:
“I am in Greece meeting with Dino Russos (preacher at the Glyfada church of Christ) and Dimitrios Argyropoulos (EEM’s Greece and Balkans representative) in Athens. On Thursday, we stopped by a ladies Bible class at the building in the Russian language. Tonight, we had a Bible study in the Farsi language and lessons by Dino and Dimitrios along with a dinner. There were about 80 in attendance. I told the refugees about EEM and Bible distribution. They said “Thank you for providing us Bibles”. Each one had a Bible and followed along in the scriptures during the lesson. I was pleased that more children were attending with their parents. At the end of the Bible study, 11 people said that they want to be baptized. Dino said he is now seeing Turkish speaking people attend. He is considering starting a Turkish language Bible study and perhaps Sunday worship for them as well. These Muslim refugees are inviting their friends. One of the newly baptized attendees has even gotten a new tattoo on the side of his neck
that says ‘GOD’.”
We heartily support this work, though it is not included in our budget. Donations can be made through Baker Heights or online via Elexio. Later this year, Monty Tuttle, will visit us to give an update on the work in Ukraine, Greece, Croatia and other places where Bibles are being
distributed.
For the elders,
Larry Taylor

Good Morning
Last week, I had the privilege of going through my father-in-law’s library and taking any of the books I wanted for my own library. It was fascinating to see the variety of topics included in his collection of books – a reflection of the kind of man and minister he was.
There were books about:
How to honor and respect God’s word through your preaching
The status of the church today
How to love and care for others.
Owen was a great man of God and a humble servant – and, in many ways, his library showed
that.
I sometimes wonder what people might think of me if they were to go through my book library, or even my movie or music libraries. What we consume – whether through written, spoken, or visual media – shows who we are and reflects what we care about or think is important. How would you feel about someone going through your libraries? What might
they think about you from what they see?
In the last chapter of Philippians, one of the final thoughts is to remind God’s people to think of things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent or praiseworthy. May we, as God’s people, do just that – not only in terms of our libraries, but by evaluating every aspect of our lives – and may what
we see always be a reflection of the God we serve.
In Him,
Luke
