DESCRIPTION

Eco-Gowanus: Urban Remediation by Design, 2007 Richard Plunz & Patricia Culligan editors, with work by 2003 & 2004 Columbia University students was a comprehensive Architecture and Engineering study of the Gowanus Canal area, looking at both its history and potential solutions . It reviews historical Sanborn Maps of the Gowanus Canal from 1893 to 1942, and assigns industrial pollutant profiles to historic land uses. The mapped potential contamination dispersion plumes are speculative, and should be viewed in conjunction with the EPAs 2011 Gowanus Canal Remediation Investigation. The book is available for sale at Proteus Gowanus.
