This £11M building project will provide a 21st century arts centre and creative industries hub with unique facilities and opportunities for today’s creative community.

Currently Edinburgh Printmakers are a relatively small staff team of 14 that is undergoing a significant step change over the next 3 years. It is an opportunity to become a part of a small, very driven and dynamic team that is working to achieve a project that will help transform a much-loved heritage building into a vibrant creative hub - nurturing talent, enriching lives and inspiring people to connect with their own creativity. Main purpose

With large capital grants confirmed from Heritage Lottery fund and Creative Scotland, and trusts and foundation applications well underway, we are looking to diversify our voluntary giving income streams into Major Gifts, Events, Individual Giving, corporate and Community.

We are looking for a Development Officer with experience managing and developing regular giving programmes, events and digital fundraising, with excellent copy writing skills to create compelling and inspiring applications to Trust and Foundations. You will work closely with the fundraising team, and the wider staff team to help close the remaining capital fundraising gap and capitalize upon core fundraising opportunities to achieve core fundraising targets.

As well as contributing to Capital Project target income by managing regular giving and online fundraising initiatives, you will support and steer fundraising initiatives for core revenue and project costs.

The post holder will help deliver the capital fundraising strategy to meet the challenges and targets set throughout the capital appeal campaign while supporting the strategy around ongoing income revenue. You will help to identify, initiate, develop and build relationships with

trusts, foundations and the Friends of EP, managing the relationships to maximize income for the Edinburgh Printmakers Capital Appeal and beyond.

You will manage the friend’s programme and liaise with programme, retail, admin and marketing staff to plan events and communications for patrons, donors and friends.

Main duties and responsibilities

To ensure that relationships with Friends of EP are nurtured and well managed to maximize their retention and future giving potential. To coordinate and develop Friends of EP events, working with marketing team to publicise and drive forward individual giving and to actively increase Friends memberships and income in this area in line with the department strategy.

Managing all administration of and timely communication with the Friends of EP.

Working closely with the Capital Fundraising Officer to identify and encourage upgrades for current Friends of EP and monthly givers.

To develop and support core programme fundraising opportunities with programme and studio staff; developing fundable projects in line with trust and foundation guidelines.

Write proposals, introductory letters, follow-up letters, and prepare background information and materials for cultivation and solicitation activities as needed for individuals and trust and foundations to solicit support for public programmes and Edinburgh Printmaker’s projects, liaising with Artistic Programme Director and Studio Director as appropriate.

Work with the Capital Communications Officer and Capital Fundraising Officer to develop targeted hard copy and digital materials for donor audiences, stakeholders and Friends of EP using creative and engaging methods of communication.

To work with the marketing team to develop engaging digital fundraising initiatives. To research and implement innovative ways of bringing new supporters on board using digital tools, to help create new fundraising content and update existing content. To support the marketing team in maintaining new online donation pages to support fundraising activity.

Feed into and support wider cultivation events as necessary; working to ensure they best showcase our work to prospective supporters and recognise appropriate existing donors.

To represent the Charity at external events.

To collaborate with key stakeholders and senior staff to ensure that the Charity implements and delivers against agreed Data, Information Management KPI’s to ensure effective, consistent and legal communications with all supporters.

To ensure that information about donor contacts and Trusts activity is collected and stored accurately on the Charity’s database and that all retained information is in line with Charity Law and Best Practice.

To ensure that donor trust and confidentiality is maintained at all times.

To help gather KPIs and information that communicates fundraising strategy, tactics, targets or outcomes for regular reporting.

Expected performance indicator outputs for 2017/18 include but not limited to:

Person Specification

The following range of knowledge skills and experience are required, please reflect this in your application. Short-listing for interview will be based on meeting these requirements.

Essential:

Experience

Experience of developing and managing a regular giving programme and able to demonstrate track record of achieving growth in lower level repeat giving through Friends programmes.

Experience of shaping and planning cultivation events that lead to successful recruitment of new donors and ‘Friends’.

Able to demonstrate a track record of securing five figure gifts from trusts and foundations, whilst sustaining and nurturing a portfolio of prospects, which has led to further gifts.

An understanding of digital fundraising tools and using social media channels (organic and paid) to meet fundraising objectives.

Working at a strategic level implementing strategies and plans organisation wide. Experience of improving database management in relation to fundraising activity.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to develop an effective income growth plans for regular giving programmes, digital fundraising and Trust and Foundations.

Ability to communicate, network, influence and build effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Excellent written communication skills, negotiation and presentation skills, which exerts influence with diplomacy, whilst maintaining and developing good relationships.

Project Management and organisational skills. The ability to multi task and manage your own workload with limited supervision. Ability to work well under pressure and work to a deadline. IT literate, including the ability to use Microsoft office, or equivalent, and fundraising

databases. Advanced networking skills. Proven project management skills

Knowledge and aptitudes

Knowledge of fundraising sector trends in relation to regular giving and digital fundraising. Knowledge and understanding of best practice and legal requirements of Data Protection,

Taxation guidelines, Gift Aid, Institute of Fundraising guidelines and other relevant Charity Law.

Ability to make decisions and problem solve Demonstrates a flexible approach to meeting changing demands and priorities and a

willingness to perform tasks outside of own responsibilities as may be required to assist the needs of the business.
