Updating Projects in EPM 2010 Project Managers are responsible for accepting task updates from team members and publishing the updates to PWA. To ensure you meet the minimum University Services Project Management documentation standards, you must perform these steps on a monthly basis. GETTING SUPPORT ON EPM 2010 Contact USIS Systems Support at 5-1830. ACCESSING PWA 1. Open a browser and type in us.project.umn.edu\pwa 2. In the User name field, enter AD\ internet ID (x.500) 3. In the Password field, type in your internet password and click OK. APPROVING & PUBLISHING TASK UPDATES IN PWA 1. Under Projects on the left-hand menu, select Approval Center. 2. Select the check box next to the updates or click the drop-down arrow on the selection column to accept all updates. 3. Click the Preview Update button to review the updates in the project plan before submitting and close the window when finished. 4. Click the Accept button to accept the updates and click OK. 5. Under Projects on the left-hand menu, select Project Center. 6. Click on the hyper-linked project name. 7. Select the Project Information from the left-hand menu. 8. Click the Edit button. 9. Adjust the Overall Health project status indicators and any other indicators that need to be adjusted and click Save. PUBLISHING A PROJECT IN PWA If you are managing your projects in PWA and not using MS Project Professional, follow these steps to publish your project and update the project schedule in PWA with the approved hours. Refer to the Managing a Project Plan in MS Project Professional section if you are using MS Project Professional to manage your projects. 1. Under Projects on the left-hand menu, select Approval Center. 2. Click the History button and select Status Updates. 3. Check the Status column for unpublished updates. Select the check box next to the updates or click the drop-down arrow on the selection column to accept all updates. 4. Click the Publish button.

MANAGING A PROJECT PLAN IN MS PROJECT PROFESSIONAL

Once the updates have been applied they must be reviewed in the MS Project Professional project plan and any incomplete work that is scheduled in the past needs to be rescheduled for a future time period, project information indicators need to be updated and the updates need to be published.

1. Sign in to Microsoft Project 2010 and open the project.

2. Select the Task ribbon, and from the View group, open the USIT Project Update Tracking view.

3. Make any necessary updates to remaining work.

4. Review the tasks and determine if any work needs to be rescheduled to a future time period. If updates are needed, select the task that needs to be rescheduled and click the Project ribbon and from the Status group, select the Update Project button.

5. Select the Reschedule uncompleted work to start after button and enter the new date.

6. Select for entire project or selected tasks and click OK.

7. If prompted with the Planning Wizard dialog box, click OK.

8. Click the Project Information button.

9. Adjust the Overall Health project status indicators and any other indicators that need to be adjusted and click OK.

10. Select the File ribbon and click Save.

11. Select Publish.

12. Select Close.

13. Select the Yes button to checkin this project.

UPLOAD PROJECT STATUS REPORT TO PROJECT SHAREPOINT SITE

Project status reports are required for any project over $10,000. Status reports should be uploaded to the project SharePoint site.

1. Under Projects on the left-hand menu, select Project Center.

2. Click on the hyper-linked project name.

3. Select the Project Site button on the Project ribbon.

4. Select Project Documents from the left-hand menu.

5. Select Add Document.

6. Click the Browse button to select the project status report.

7. Click OK.

8. Update the document properties and click Save.
