Starting

Open the “FR1_Exercise_start.CATPart” file

Check that “Solid.2” is active

If not, choose “Define in Work Object” in itscontextual menu to activate it.

In the “Part Design” workbench, click the“Automatic Feature Recognition” icon

A “Feature Recognition” panel will bedisplayed

Check you are in the “Automatic” thumbnail We will see the 2 different ways to recognize

“dress-up features”, automatic or manual; youcan practice both of them.

Feature Recognition: Dress-up Features (Fillets) 2/2

As the Chain Faces option is on by default,the application includes propagated facesin the selection.

This is why the “Selected Objects” fieldshows three faces, while we selected only

one geometrical face.

All selected faces are highlighted and

numbered in the geometry area too.

Click “Apply” in the panel

We can repeat the same operation with thesymmetrical fillet

We end up with new V5 features in thetree: “EdgeFillet.1” and “EdgeFillet.2”

Feature Recognition: Boolean feature 1/2

Select the “Boolean” type in the panel

Select the slot 5 inner faces as shown

This step illustrates a Boolean Feature recognition used:- when the initial geometry is made of complex shapes

- also when the recognition of standard features fails

Because the cavity of this part is not easily identifiable,

we need to use the Boolean option.

Feature Recognition: Features Rework

In “PartBody” contextual menu, select “Define In WorkObject”

This action will activate the PartBody. We will then be ableto visualize the newly created V5 features.

We are now provided with a V5 structure that can be

modified the usual way; for instance:Add a “Smooth Propagation” option to the “Draft”

Change the “Groove” profile by editing the support sketch

Change the “Edge Fillet” value
