My name is Beth Harkness and this year marks my 20th year at East Maitland where I have taught mostly in the Kinder to Year 2 area. This year I have a year 1 class . I am enthusiastic about working with young children and love watching students in my class develop the knowledge and skills that will help them to be life long learners. I became a grandmother nearly a year ago and am enjoying the new stage of my life. Isla is a delight! It is exciting to be part of a school that is always moving forward and I enjoy working with the Staff, parents and students of our school.

students must line up as usual and have their roll

marked before visiting the Book Fair with their

Grandparents or parents. I look forward to seeing

everyone there, it's always a massive day.

WHAT ARE JOEY SCOUTS?

Joey Scouts are the youngest section of the Scouting Movement,

specifically designed for 6 and 7 year old girls and boys. A similar

section has run for many years in other countries.

WHAT IS A SCOUT GROUP?

A Scout Group can consist of the following sections: Joey Scouts 6-8

years, Cub Scouts 8-10 1/2 years, Scouts 11-14 years, Venturers 14-

18 years and Rovers 18-26 years.

WHAT DO JOEY SCOUTS DO?

Joey Scouts make new friends, learn new things, play games and

make things. But most of all they have fun.

HOW OFTEN TO JOEY SCOUTS MEET?

Joey Scouts meet once a week during the school term. Your local

Scout Group is one of many that make up a ‘Scouting District’ and

there will be times when your Joey Scouts will meet for joint

activities either within the District or wider but still within the Re-

gion.

WHAT DOES IT COST?

There is a once only joining fee in all Scouts which registers our

Scouts as a member of the World Scout Organisation. There is a

yearly registration fee which covers both Scouts and Leaders for

insurance purposes. Group fees cover hall costs, Leader training plus

expenses for the section.
