Road Trip Nation - https://roadtripnation.com/ - The series takes trips across the country to talk with professionals of every kind and ask the questions that no one is asking—honest questions about their struggles, successes, and how they figured out the age-old dilemma, “What should I do with my life?”

Lifehackers - https://www.pbs.org/video/life-hackers-v3ar1h/ - follows three roadtrippers -

Antwan King, Emily Cox and Mansi Thakar - in the iconic green RV on a cross-country journey that goes "off road" and into the world of cyber security. Thirty-two-year-old Antwan King from Greenville, North Carolina sometimes gets stressed out by the thought of competing with younger college grads for jobs in cyber-security. But he's worked too hard to get here-holding down a full-time job during the day and loading UPS trucks at night just so he can finish his master's in digital forensics and cyber investigation. "I refuse to give up," he says. The memory of his grandfather, who never complained, keeps him going. The thing Emily Cox loves about cybersecurity is its duality: the tools used to break into a system are the same ones used to protect it. The 26-year-old Bloomington, Illinois native discovered cybersecurity a year ago and found a home in the fast-moving, constantly evolving field. However, formal education was a struggle-she dropped out of high school and didn't finish college- and it seems like everyone else started coding as a kid, so Emily wonders if she'll be able to catch up. She's been teaching herself and completed a coding boot camp in between working as a barista, and now she's at a crossroads. It's time to take a leap if she's going to pursue cybersecurity, and that's why she's on this road trip-to find guidance and inspiration to jump-start what's next. To San Diego native Mansi Thakar, cybersecurity is a field where you can be a superhero. But when you're a modern-day tech protector facing millions of malware threats, you need backup. That's why she's drawn to the space where cybersecurity meets machine learning. The 24-year old is pursuing her master's in the field and wants to help shape how we confront the growing magnitude of cyber threats through data and automation. For four weeks, Antwan, Emily and Mansi seek out different members of the cyber security workforce who have become stories of success, in order to gain insight into what it really takes to thrive in the next chapter of their lives. Airs 4/4 at 4-5 a.m.

State of Change - https://www.pbs.org/video/state-of-change-jxopxn/ - Three young

people explore Indiana to see how their state is moving into the future. In this new Roadtrip Nation special, follow the journeys of three post-secondary students from Indiana on a life-changing road trip to see how Indiana-grown ingenuity is keeping their home state at the cutting edge of rapid technological change. They're spending two weeks exploring some of the exciting industries powering Indiana's growth-including healthcare services, advanced manufacturing, biosciences, and technology-and connecting with the Hoosiers working at the forefront of these fields. Follow along with their journey, and see how the state nicknamed the "Crossroads of America" is driving the future forward for us all. Airs 4/15 at 2-3 a.m.

Small Town Tech - https://www.pbs.org/video/small-town-tech-elqnoj/ - When most people

think of innovative tech hubs, they're more likely to picture Silicon Valley than a small town. But a lot of innovation is happening outside of big cities. In ROADTRIP NATION: SMALL TOWN TECH, three young people from Yuma, Arizona set out to explore the opportunities available to them in their backyards and beyond. They speak to people who didn't let the size of their hometown determine the boldness of their ambitions-and realize building a better future can just as easily start at home as in a thriving city center. Airs 4/22 at 2-3 a.m.

Skill Powered - https://www.roadtripnation.com/roadtrip/watch - explores the potential of

vocational training in today's world. It follows three young adults - Alex, Shyane and Ryan - as they shadow people across the country who are forging their own ways within their trades. All of the roadtrippers are intrigued by skill-focused careers, but none of them have a set path planned - yet. In telling the nuanced stories of people powering skilled trades across the country, ROADTRIP NATION: SKILL POWERED uncovers the many different ways people can experience career satisfaction and build a better life. Airs 4/29 at 2-3 a.m.

SPECIAL SCREENINGS

La forza del destino

April 28 at noon and April 30 at 6 p.m.

One of Verdi's most ambitious scores. Its overture - which introduces us to the sinister motif signifying Fate - is one of his most memorable. The opera also contains some of Verdi’s most brilliant choral writing, including Act III’s stirring ‘Rataplan’ chorus, and several beautiful and intimate arias such as Leonora's ardent Act IV 'Pace, pace mio Dio!'. There's comedy too with the scenes for the greedy monk Fra Melitone. Christof Loy's colourful and spectacular production reflects the kaleidoscopic nature of Verdi's opera, where intense personal dramas play out against a background of war, and in which

religion plays an ambiguous role.

The Golden Age

April 14 at noon and April 16 at 6 p.m.

In the 1920’s, The Golden Age cabaret is a favorite nightly haunt. The young fisherman Boris falls in love with Rita. He follows her to the cabaret and realizes that she is the beautiful dancer “Mademoiselle Margot,”, but also the love interest of the local gangster Yashka. With its jazzy score by Shostakovich and its music-hall atmosphere featuring beautiful tangos, The Golden Age is a refreshing and colorful dive into the roaring 20’s.

Stratford Festival: Coriolanus

Sunday April 7 at noon

See Robert Lepage's breathtaking production that explores the age-old tensions that still tear at the heart of democracy. There's one visual surprise after another in this fast paced show.

Nature - American Spring LIVE - Acclaimed news anchor Juju Chang will host the multi-platform event, with on-camera experts, including biologist Thor Hanson and entomologist Phil Torres, showing springtime phenomena in various locations across the country, in ecosystems ranging from the Rockies to the Everglades, from inner-city parks to remote wilderness preserves. The series will include a mix of live and pre-taped footage highlighting some of the most pivotal events in nature’s calendar. A diverse group of researchers and citizen scientists will investigate how a wide range of organisms respond to the change of seasons. They will share their insights into the natural world, reveal new technologies that make their discoveries possible and encourage audiences to join the adventure of science. http://wxxi.org/citizenscience

Birth and Rebirth - Tracing the green wave that sweeps

across the continent in spring, see how the rising temperatures and longer day spur plants to awaken and flower. Airs 4/29 at 8 p.m.

Migration - Breeding and the greening of the landscape

are tied to another major spectacle of spring: the mass movements of animals as they take advantage of spring’s bounty. Meet the scientists who track these journeys, often over vast distances, from winter refuge to spring nesting grounds. Airs 4/30 at 8 p.m.

Connection - Learn how plants and animals depend on

each other to survive. See first-hand how climate change can break those connections, altering the timing of weather and plant growth, and disrupting the delicate relationships between plants and pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Airs 5/1 at 8 p.m.

PBS PREVIEWS: Chasing the Moon - https://pbs.org/chasingthemoon/ COMING SUMMER 2019 - “Chasing the Moon,” a film by Robert Stone, reimagines the race to the moon for a new generation, upending much of the conventional mythology surrounding the effort. The series recasts the Space Age as a fascinating stew of scientific innovation, political calculation, media spectacle, visionary impulses and personal drama. Utilizing a visual feast of previously overlooked and lost archival material — much of which has never before been seen by the public — the film features a diverse cast of characters who played key roles in these historic events. Among those included are astronauts Buzz Aldrin, Frank Borman and Bill Anders; Sergei Khrushchev, son of the former Soviet premier and a leading Soviet rocket engineer; Poppy Northcutt, a 25-year old “mathematics whiz” who gained worldwide attention as the first woman to serve in the all-male bastion of NASA’s Mission Control; and Ed Dwight, the Air Force pilot selected by the Kennedy administration to train as America’s first black astronaut. Airs 4/12 at 10:30 p.m. (repeats 4/21 at 12:30 a.m.)

FROM THE WINGS: THE LIVE ART STORY is about a group of children with varying abilities that came come together to create an unprecedented performance and change their community forever. The documentary follows six students from the School of the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC) in Virginia, their families and several staff members, and chronicles how the children and adults face their own fears, learn what empathy really means, and discover countless things they didn't know about themselves and the world around them. The experience culminates in an inspirational night of music, dance and visual art-including a performance by recording artist Jason Mraz-that unifies students with and without disabilities before a sold-out audience at the majestic Carpenter Theatre.
