Educational Attainment in Metro Atlanta

Educational Attainment at the Census Tract Level, 2009-2013:

Percentage of Population with Less than High School or GED

Source: WeaveDataSource, 2009-2013

Here we look at the percentage of population age 25 and older with less than a high school diploma or GED.

South Atlanta and Bartow, Carroll, Clayton, Spalding, and Hall counties have the highest percentages of population with less than a high school diploma or GED, while north Fulton, Fayette, Cobb, Dekalb and Forsyth have some of the lowest.

The Percentage of Population with Less Than High School or GED is Declining in

All Metro Counties…

Still, in some counties more than 20 percent of the population over age 25 has less than a high school education or GED. Fayette County has the lowest proportion of population in this category.

The Percentage of Population with a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher is Growing

in Almost All Metro Counties…

Fulton, Forsyth, Cobb, Fayette, and Dekalb counties have the highest percentages of population with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Fulton County leads the metro with 49 percent of the population 25 and over holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Only Bartow and Carroll counties have experienced decreases in the percentage of their populations with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
