Dear Parents/Carers and students,

Sports Day

What a successful day! The weather was just glorious wasn’t it? The sports committee organised a lovely set of tabloids and team games for all the classes. The sports captains carried out their responsibilities before, during and after the events. A highlight for me was Constable Anita leading us in the National Anthem at the beginning of the day and then she stayed on for many of the events before morning tea. What a beautiful voice she has. The sausage sizzle/cake/drink stall was a huge success. So many parents provided goodies for the cake stall or popped across the counter to help out and that included the BBQ! Our thanks also go to the many parents who assisted in one way or another on the day either by marshalling, judging, or being an appreciative audience for all the events. I thought the band from the high school who performed at lunchtime provide a nice ambiance whilst we munched on the most delicious sausages I have eaten. And then the display put on by the sled dogs! Weren’t they just so beautiful and keen to show off their paces? Sports day was a highlight from start to end. Thanks must be given to the Sport Committee who worked over many weeks to ensure it all went smoothly.

Camps

This week it is Errappa for the 6/7s and next week it is Kingspark for the 4/5s. DECD Camp and Excursion policy requires more adult ratio to student than class teaching; so for the next two weeks there will be many staff faces missing as we all pull together to support the camps.

NITS/LICE

With the coming of the warmer weather, unfortunately these pesky little “critters” are on the move. We have had to notify a number of parents about these unwelcome guests! Please check your child/ren’s heads especially under the hair at the back of the neck. That is a favourite place – warm and dark just right for hatching! Nits are the eggs and if not removed hatch into lice within 20 or so days. The adult lice lay their eggs in any sort of hair – strangely they seem to like really squeaky clean hair! Vigilance is needed at this time and I know the supermarket and the chemist have stocked up on all the necessary shampoos.

HATS

Next term it is again compulsory for all students to wear a hat! Our school uniform has a broad brimmed hat or a bucket hat or legionnaire’s style hat. NO HAT, NO SUN.
