En aquel tiem-po, hallándose Jesús en medio de una multitud, un hombre le dijo: “Maestro, dile a mi her-

mano que comparta conmigo la herencia”. Pero Jesús le contestó: “Amigo, ¿quién me ha puesto como juez en la distribución de herencias?” Y dirigiéndose a la multitud, dijo: “Eviten toda clase de avaricia, porque la vida del hombre no depende de la abundancia de los bienes que posea”. Después les propuso esta parábola: “Un hom-bre rico obtuvo una gran cosecha y se puso a pensar: ‘¿Qué haré, porque no tengo ya en dónde almacenar la cosecha? Ya sé lo que voy a hacer: derribaré mis graneros y construiré otros más grandes para guardar ahí mi cosecha y todo lo que tengo. Entonces podré decirme: Ya tienes bienes acumulados para muchos años; descansa, come, bebe y date a la buena vida’. Pero Dios le dijo: ‘¡Insensato! Esta misma noche vas a morir. ¿Para quién serán todos tus bienes?’ Lo mis-mo le pasa al que amontona riquezas para sí mismo y no se hace rico de lo que vale ante Dios”.

XVIII Niedziela zwykła Ktoś z tłumu rzekł do Jezusa: "Nauczycielu, powiedz mojemu bratu, żeby się podzielił ze mną spad-kiem". Lecz On mu odpowiedział: "Człowieku, któż Mnie ustanowił nad wami sędzią albo rozjemcą?" Po-wiedział też do nich: "Uważajcie i strzeżcie się wszel-kiej chciwości, bo nawet gdy ktoś ma wszystkiego w nadmiarze, to życie jego nie zależy od jego mienia". I opowiedział im przypowieść: "Pewnemu zamożnemu człowiekowi dobrze obrodziło pole. I rozważał w sobie: „Co tu począć? Nie mam gdzie pomieścić moich zbio-rów”. I rzekł: „Tak zrobię: zburzę moje spichlerze, a pobuduję większe i tam zgromadzę całe moje zboże i dobra. I powiem sobie: Masz wielkie dobra, na długie lata złożone; odpoczywaj, jedz, pij i używaj!” Lecz Bóg rzekł do niego: „Głupcze, jeszcze tej nocy zażądają twojej duszy od ciebie; komu więc przypadnie to, co przygotowałeś?" Tak dzieje się z każdym, kto skarby gromadzi dla siebie, a nie jest bogaty u Boga".

Łk 12, 13-21

Gdy słyszymy słowa dzisiejszej Ewangelii, może się nam wydawać, że Chrystus nieco za ostro ocenia bogacza, który chciał zabezpieczyć swoje obfite zbiory. Wydaje się przecież, że jego posta-wa jest dosyć roztropna, a plan, jaki chciał wcielić w życie, przyszedłby do głowy każdemu z nas, gdybyśmy znaleźli się na jego miejscu. Jezus, Syn Boży, który stał się człowiekiem i zamieszkał wśród ludzi, zna ludzkie potrzeby i nie krytykuje samego pomysłu bogacza z dzisiejszej Ewangelii. Kluczem do zrozumienia intencji Chrystusa są dwa wypowiedziane przez Niego zdania: Uważaj-cie i strzeżcie się wszelkiej chciwości, bo nawet gdy ktoś ma wszystkiego w nadmiarze, to życie jego nie zależy od jego mienia oraz gdy przedsta-wia smutne zakończenie losów bogacza: Tak dzieje się z każdym, kto skarby gromadzi dla sie-bie, a nie jest bogaty u Boga Te dwa zdania pro-wokują nas do przemyślenia naszej własnej hie-rarchii wartości. Problemem bogacza nie jest bo-wiem samo bogactwo, ale to, iż posiadane przez siebie dobra materialne stawia on na pierwszym miejscu. Tymczasem jego dni, jak dni każdego z nas, są policzone i po śmierci nie zabierzemy ze sobą tego, co nagromadziliśmy. Może stosowniej byłoby tu przywołać jakiś tekst Pisma Świętego albo mądrość spisaną przez świętych i błogosła-wionych Kościoła, jednak mnie, gdy czytam słowa tej Ewangelii, przypomina się refren swego czasu dość popularnej piosenki, którą niejednokrotnie słyszeliście w radiu: I dopiero gdy zawoła Bóg, To pożegnam wszystkie te rzeczy i znów, Pójdę boso Zamkną za mną drzwi, Nie zabiorę nic, Pójdę bo-

so. Pójdę do Boga boso, nie mając nic, bo to, co materialne, przeminie, o czym przypomina nam dzisiaj Kohelet mówiąc, że wszystko jest marno-ścią, oraz św. Paweł, nawołując, by dążyć do te-go, co w górze, a nie do tego, co przyziemne. Sta-nę przed moim Stwórcą taki, jaki jestem, a to, co nagromadziłem za życia, nie będzie w ogóle istot-ne. Jak to wszystko połączyć? Jak zadbać o te nasze ziemskie potrzeby, jednocześnie nie wpa-dając w pułapkę stawiania ich ponad wszystkim innym, jak to było w przypadku bogacza z dzisiej-szej Ewangelii? Sądzę, że pierwszy warunek, by to się nie stało, już wypełniamy, bo przecież kolej-ny raz jesteśmy tutaj, w kościele na niedzielnej liturgii, aby zacząć kolejny etap życia razem z Pa-nem Bogiem, by prosić o Jego błogosławieństwo na kolejny tydzień pracy lub wakacyjnego odpo-czynku, choć przecież moglibyśmy ten czas zago-spodarować inaczej. Inaczej, a więc – myśląc tyl-ko ludzkimi kategoriami – bardziej korzystnie, bar-dziej opłacalnie, wygodniej... Ale co jeszcze mo-żemy zrobić? Choć to nie Wielki Post, wydaje mi się, że warto powiedzieć jeszcze o dwóch spra-wach: poście i jałmużnie. Post nie jest jakimś ro-dzajem diety, nie jest też umartwieniem dla same-go umartwienia. Kiedy poszczę, dobrowolnie od-mawiam sobie czegoś dozwolonego, a więc de-klaruję tę postawę, do której zachęca św. Paweł: że najważniejsze jest to, co w górze. Najważniej-szy jest Bóg. I choć nie mogę Bogu niczego do-dać ani zabrać, poszcząc przypominam sam so-bie, że On musi być na pierwszym miejscu, że choć otacza mnie wiele dobrych rzeczy, że choć roztacza się przede mną wiele atrakcyjnych możli-wości, to źródłem wszystkiego, co dobre, jest tyl-ko On sam. Z kolei praktykowana jałmużna stano-wi z mojej strony inną ważną deklarację: że nie jestem samotną wyspą, że to, co dzięki Bogu po-siadam, powinno być także w pewnym stopniu udziałem innych ludzi. Przypominają się tu słowa: Co masz, czego byś nie otrzymał? A jeśli uwa-żasz, że masz niewiele, to wspomnij przykład ubogiej wdowy z Ewangelii, która mając niewiele, dała według Jezusa jałmużnę większą od najbo-gatszych. Jeśli umiem się dzielić, to dobra mate-rialne nie staną się moim bożkiem, to nie będę podobny do ewangelicznego bogacza… Wiemy, że nasze dni dobiegną końca, stąd po tej homilii chciałbym Was zostawić z dwoma pytaniami. Pierwsze: Gdy ta chwila nastąpi, co takiego zabio-rę ze sobą do Boga? I drugie: Co pozostanie po mnie dla innych? o. Krzysztof Wąsiewicz CSsR

Luke 12:13-21 A person's life does not consist of possessions. Background on the Gospel Read-ing

In Chapter 12 of Luke's Gospel, Jesus instructs his disciples and the crowd on how to be ready for the coming judgment. A crowd of many thousands has gathered to hear Jesus. At first he speaks only to the disciples, remind-ing them that it is not persecution they should fear but the judgment that is coming for all who do not acknowledge the Son of Man. Suddenly a man in the crowd shouts out to Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inher-itance with me.” He seems to have grown tired of Jesus speaking only to the disciples. Jesus offers the man no help. Instead he uses the question to teach what, in light of the coming judgment, life really consist of. Jesus tells the crowd a parable. A rich man's lands have yielded more crops than expected. His response is not to consider how he might share all the extra food with others but to wonder how he can possibly store it all. He has what he thinks is a brilliant idea: to tear down his pre-sent barns and build larger ones. Then he will have many things stored up for years of eating, drinking, and making merry. “You fool” is God's response to this man because that very night his life will be taken away. To whom will everything belong then, God asks. The rich man's world is small, just him and his possessions, and now he learns that he is to lose his life. What good are his possessions now? Jesus states the moral of the story. This is how it will be for everyone who stores up treasure for himself or herself but is not rich in what matters to God. Centuries later St. Gregory the Great taught that when we care for the needs of the poor, we are giving them what is theirs, not ours. We are not just performing works of mercy; we are paying a debt of justice. Life does not consist in possessions but in sharing what we possess with others. Dear Fr. Waldemar Wieladek and parish-ioners at St. Mary of Czestochowa Church: St. Mary of Czestochowa collected

a total of $4,545.94 for The Women's Center in the 2019 Baby Bottle Project! We truly appreciate the support of your Par-ish and the generosity of the parishioners, the office staff and everyone involved with this project. It is fantastic that you believe in our Life Saving Mission and that the parish is so charitable. We are grateful for all the help, efforts and energy spent on this Pro Life endeavor for The Women's Center. Since the Baby Bottle Project is an essential part of our organi-zation's fundraising, it is an incredible blessing to us and the women and babies we serve that we can count on your support. These funds allow us to provide material and financial assistance to women in crisis pregnancies. By choosing life for their babies they can be assured that they will be provided with the many necessities they require. We have over 3500 appointments with women every year and give away over $500,000 in material goods. To date, we have saved over 40,000 babies and we could not have made this happen without your parish's wonderful commitment to Life!
