Ekklesia. In AV Gr. ekklesia meaning ‘a calling out of,’

translated ‘church’ by command of King James to the translators. ie not universal.

In normal scriptural use ‘church’ or ‘ecclesia’ applies to the people not the building.

Indicates separation, and sanctification. “Christ also loved the ecclesia and gave himself for

it, that he might sanctify and cleanse it.” (Eph 5:25, 26)

Ecclesia as ‘Bride of Christ.’ Ecclesia consists of a community of

men and women whose minds have been changed by the,“washing of water by the word.” (Eph 5:26).

Ecclesia then described as ‘a chaste virgin to Christ.’ (2 Cor 11:2).

In metaphoric language ecclesia described as “the bride of Christ” having true unity of mind with him.

Ecclesia the ‘holy city.’ This city sought by Abraham - “For he looked for a

city which hath foundations...” (Heb 11:10). “But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the

city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels. To the general assembly and church (ekklesia) of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect.” (Heb 11:10, 12:32)

The New Jerusalem. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth:

for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.” 21:1,2.
