Centro Comunitario de Marydia, nuevo corazón de la comunidad

Condado osceola, Fl - El convertir una vieja estación de bomberos en el Centro Comunitario de Marydia tomó menos de un año, pero el legado que durará generaciones fue instantáneo.“Hoy día, estamos viendo como

una semilla empieza a echar raíces que se entrelazarán entre sí en el tejido de esta histórica comunidad,” dijo el Presidente de la Comisión del Condado Frank Attkisson, cuyo distrito incluye Marydia, una zona al sur de la Osceola Parkway y al este de la Orange Blossom Trail. “Esto es más que un edificio. de Educación Multicultural del Distrito Escolar del Condado Osceola celebró una noche de información y festividad con motivo del Mes de la Hispanidad en la Escuela Elemental Kissimmee. Los padres de los estudiantes del programa ESOL del distrito fueron invitados a participar de esta actividad. Hubo exhibiciones de programas y organizaciones de

la comunidad. Todos los asistentes obtuvieron valiosa información visitando los kioscos. of Osceola County Schools District had an informational night and a celebration of the Hispanic Heritage Month on Thursday, October 8 at Kissimmee Elementary School. All parents of ESOL students in the district were invited to participate.They have exhibitions of programs, schools, departments,

and community organizations. Those who attended received important information going through the booths. During the event there was child care and simultaneous Spanish, Haitian Creole, and French interpretation provided. The first 100 ESOL families that arrived to the event received a free backpack for alphabetization. As part of the program they have a Parade of Flags by 4th and 5th grade students from the Kissimmee Elementary School.The purpose of the event was to encourage parental

involvement and participation in the English Language Learner (ELL) students’ educational programming and academic achievement. The ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) program serves students who have been identified as English Language Learners (ELLs). The students are enrolled in the appropriate grade level courses of Language Arts/ESOL, Math Science, and Social Studies. ELL students are introduced to the various cultural aspects of American society to facilitate their transition into the community life of their new country. More than 100 admissions representatives from colleges and universities across the country will be present for this two-night event, which will be held at Valencia College’s East and Osceola campuses.

Students can meet with representatives from colleges and universities around the country, including Yale, Cornell, Morehouse, Notre Dame and the University of Florida, as well as local schools including Valencia, University of Central Florida, Rollins, Florida Southern

and Stetson. Military recruiters will also be on hand to answer questions.In addition to meeting representatives

from colleges, students can get information on everything from admissions requirements to financial aid, degrees and programs offered, plus information about campus housing.College Night 2013 will be held Tuesday,

Join Roxie Hart, Velma Kelly, Billy Flynn, the “Merry Murderesses” and all the iconic characters that have made this musical one of the biggest Broadway successes ever since its debut in 1975. The subsequent revival became the longest-running musical revival as well as the longest running

American musical on Broadway. It is also the third longest running show in Broadway history.

Valencia’s production will be directed by program chair John DiDonna, with choreography by Eric Yow of Yow Dance, and musical direction by Tim Hanes. On October 25, the performance will be followed by a talk-back with the cast and crew.

Main Street honored 18 sculptors at the 2012-2013 Kissimmee Sculpture Experience Artist’s Reception held at Gallery One Artists on Sept 27.

Kissimmee Main Street was honored to have 20 loaned sculptures during the sixth annual Kissimmee Sculpture Experience, which was double the amount of sculptures from the previous year. During the reception, Kissimmee Main Street Executive Director, Brianne Stefek, thanked all of the volunteers and sponsors, including Gallery One Artists for hosting the event and.

Jonathan Bowling was named the People’s Choice Award winner for his sculpture “Old Heifer”, while Dennis Howland took home the Kid’s Choice Award for his sculpture “Evolution of Angels and Birds”. The night’s biggest award, the Phyllis Ross Best in Show Award, along with a $500 prize was awarded to artist Adam Bodine for his piece “What You Say”. Guests who attended the reception had the chance to walk around and view the artwork before they were uninstalled the next morning.

New sculptures will be welcomed for the seventh annual Kissimmee Sculpture Experience later this month and will be unveiled during the 2013 Art Festival on Nov 16 and 17. Brochures for the self-guided walking tour will be available at the Kissimmee Main Street Welcome Station starting in November.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office received the McConnell Men Memorial Award, an award created to honor the memory of Roy McConnell and his three sons who were killed by a drunk driver in August of 2010. Deputy Michael Hilley, Deputy James Lamb and Sgt. Donald Macallaster received the 100+ LifeSavers Award

El 6 de octubre de 2013, aproximadamente a la 1:45 p.m., los oficiales respondieron a la tienda Metro PCS en referencia a un robo a mano armada. Kissimmee police arrest man for armed robbery

Kissimmee, Fl - Kissimmee police officers arrested a man for armed robbery of the Metro PCS store located at 715 East Vine Street in Kissimmee.

On October 6, 2013 at approximately 1:45 p.m. officers responded to the Metro PCS store in reference to an armed robbery. Officers learned that a Hispanic male walked inside, approached the clerk with his hand in his pocket said “Give me the money.” The clerk did not see a gun, but assumed

the suspect had one in his pocket. The suspect fled the store with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one inside the store was injured during the incident.

Officers searched the area for the suspect with the help of Osceola County Sheriff’s office K9 unit. The K9 track leads officers to the Flamingo Inn. The suspect was located inside room #118 and was arrested. The suspect was positively identified by witnesses as

toward our goal of bringing MLS,” said Orlando City President Phil Rawlins. “I am delighted to have the City behind

us so we can now focus on the second vote that is only two weeks away.”Supporters came out to the event

to show the support of the vote, which was unanimous among the six Commissioners and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. The vote approved the use of Tourist Development Tax (TDT) funds for multiple venues, including a soccer stadium. “There are significant days in our

community and this is one of them,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “Hopefully we have another one later this month.“

The final step on funding for a stadium will occur on Tuesday, October 22, at the County Administration Building. Pending the County approval of the stadium plan, Orlando would be able to enter into final negotiations with MLS to award an expansion team to Central Florida. The October 22 vote takes place at

Kissimmee, Fl - In just two years, the Puerto Rican Parade of Florida, formerly known as the Puerto Rican Day Parade in Osceola, has established itself as the most important statewide managed to bring together leading figures from politics and entertainment. On, October 4th the promoters of this event held a press conference to announce the new features of the event.In its third anniversary, the

organizers have decided to reinvent

itself. Unlike last year, the event will be held on November, 3th at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. This month marks the date of the discovery of Puerto Rico, plus the parade will have close collaboration with the government of the island, elected officials, internationally renowned artists among other surprises.
