What is geothermal power?

Geothermal power is heat from the ground . Geyser have geothermal heat in them. Power plants make electricity with geothermal energy . Geothermal power is a renewable energy . Geothermal power is very popular in New Zealand .

Where is this type of power generated in New Zealand?

There are 9 power stations in New Zealand 7 are in the Waikato region. But more to be made in Waikato .

7.0% of geothermal power is made in New Zealand .

Geothermal heat from wells are used in motels and swimming pools . There is a power station in Wairakei and also there is one in Kawerau. In Taupo there is a volcanic zone which has lot’s of geothermal power in it. In the ring of fire the most volcanoes erupt.

How does this power generator work? You could draw a diagram.

The hot steam from the ground goes through pipes. The steam turns turbines to make electricity that goes to your house.

Could we use this type of power at school?

We can use this power at school because steam turns turbines and sends power down the lines to make electricity.
