The Kings Varsity Football Team kicks off their 2014 season tonight

in the 4th Annual Outback Steakhouse Boomerang Bowl. The team

will take on the Lebanon Warriors at Kings Stadium starting at 7:00

p.m. Tickets are on sale in the high school Athletic Office through

3:00 p.m. today. Pre-sale ticket prices are $5.00 for adults and stu-

dents (Children under 6 are Free). All tickets at the door are $7.00.

Purchase a Boomerang Bowl t-shirt for $10 and get free admission to the Outback Steak-

house Pre-Game Tailgate Party that starts at 5:00 p.m.in the High School Baseball Field.

The tailgate is open to ADULTS and STUDENTS with appearances by the Kings Cheer-

leaders and Kings Marching Band. We hope to see a “SEA OF RED” tonight! GO

KME Kindergarteners Find the Gingerbread Man

All week long, the kindergarten classes at

Kings Mills Elementary have been reading

several versions of the Gingerbread Man.

The classes then made their own ginger-

bread man cookie, but when they go to get

him out of the oven, he is gone! So, the

students have been “chasing” the ginger-

bread man all over the school, a way for

the teachers to help the students get fa-

miliar with their new school. Today, the students found a note in their class to meet him in

the principal’s office. When they arrived, they found that Mrs. Phillips had “found” and

“trapped” him in her office. The kindergartners were so happy to find, and eat, their gin-

gerbread man.

Kings Cross Country Teams Perform Well in Centerville

The KHS and KJH Cross Country Teams competed in Centerville last weekend at the Saturday Night Lights Invitational. The 8th grade boys team finished 1st place overall! The top 10 8th grade Kings runners were Jack Hussey; 1st place, Ryan O’Con-ner; 3rd place, Josh Kwiatkowski; 7th place, and Noah Chilton; 10th place. 8th grader Jennifer Cooper placed 6th in the 8th grade girls competition and Payton DePaoli placed 6th overall in the 7th grade race.

The Varsity team placed 9th overall out of 18 teams.

New Playground at KME

The students at Kings Mills Elementary are eagerly awaiting the installation of

their new playground and the construction has begun! Thanks to the past and

continued generosity of the KME PTO and KME parents, the project has been

made possible. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, Septem-

ber 26th at 5:30 p.m. More details to follow.

Congratulations Mrs. Cooke!

Congratulations to KHS Art Teacher Carrie Cooke who was chosen as 2014 Educator of the Year by the Warren Coun-

ty Soil and Water Board of Supervisors. She was recognized at the 70th Annual Warren County Water and Soil Con-

servation District Annual Meeting on Monday night.

Carrie was chosen based on her hard work and creative way of

teaching students the need to protect our water quality. She

introduced her students to the Water Barrel Project, which

students paint water barrels to be auctioned off for charity.

Amy Pond from the Warren County Water and Soil Conserva-

tion District said, “Carrie has gone above and beyond putting

countless hours and becoming a spokeswoman for the project

and helping other schools get started with the project.”

KME Students Share a Song

The students in Mr. Kaczmarowski’s 2nd grade class at Kings Mills Elementary learned a new

song in their music class with Mr. Jenkins last week and wanted to share it with our readers.

The song is called “Sleep My Child,” also known as “All Through the Night.” Click here to

Kings Kloset Sets Schedule for the Year

Kings Kloset is a free clothing store that is available to all families in the Kings School District. The store stocks gently used clothing ranging from infants to women and men's, shoes and school supplies. The store is open the first Sat-urday of every month from 9:00-11:00 a.m. and is located on the second floor of the Kings Education Center, 1797 King Avenue across from KME.

CIS Students Get Soaked for Sammy

Columbia Intermediate School found

themselves all wet this morning, all

for a good cause! They “Got Soaked

for Sammy,” a challenge to raise

money for Kings Kindergartener

Sammy Simonson who is facing an-

other brain surgery. The class

donned their goggles, towels, and buckets of ice water and headed out to the playground for the challenge. The class

Scholastic News Looking for Writers

Do you know a student with great writing skills and a nose for news? After a one-year

hiatus, the Scholastic News® Kids Press Corps is back! We are now accepting applica-

tions for the 2014–2015 school year.

This team of student journalists, ages 10–14, reports “news for kids, by kids,” with cover-

age of breaking news, entertainment stories, and sports events from their hometowns and on the national stage. Their

stories are published online at www.scholastic.com/kidspress and in Scholastic Classroom Magazines.

To apply, students must submit a news story about a person or an organization making a difference in their communi-

ty, ideas for future stories, and a personal essay explaining why they would like to be a Kid Reporter. The application

can be downloaded here. Applications must be postmarked by September 26, 2014.

Kings Kokorodza Marimba Ensemble Performs at Taste of Mission

Even the rain could not dampen the spirits of those in

attendance at the Comboni Missionaries "Taste of

Mission" as they danced and swayed to the high-

energy rhythms of the Kings Local School District's

Kokorodza Marimba Ensemble. The event was creat-

ed to help people deepen their understanding of what

it means to be a missionary community, and to learn

more about the missionaries work around the world.

Mark Your Calendar for Friday Night Pink Game

On Friday, September 26th, Kings will host the 4th Annual Friday Night Pink Game against Loveland. These two rivals come together to support Pink Ribbon Girls and women in our community who are battling breast cancer. In addition to the Friday Night Pink Game, the Lady Knights Soccer Team will be hosting a pink game on Saturday, September 20th vs. Clinton Massie.

Pink Ribbon Girls is a grassroots organization whose mission is to help ease the minds of individuals and families affected by breast cancer with direct services and support. Through their Simply Fight! and NO Age NO Stage programs in the Cincinnati and Dayton metro areas, they provided free services to women and their families such as healthy chef-prepared meals, house cleanings through Molly Maids, rides to treatment appointments, as well as peer support and education to thousands.

Friday Night Pink t-shirts will be available for sale during the week prior to the game at the junior high and high school. We encourage everyone to attend this annual event to honor all in our community who have been affected by breast cancer.

KHS Welcomes New Students

A pizza lunch was held for the 73 new students who are at-

tending Kings High School this year. Sponsored by the Cata-

lyst Club, the new students gathered in the KJH Multipurpose

Room and mingled with about 50 veteran students, making

new connections and friendships. They played games and

went home with a new KHS t-shirt and goody bag. Tammy

Snell, KHS Catalyst Adviser said, “This is the biggest group of

new students we’ve ever had.”

KJH Team Building

Every year, the 7th and 8th grade students at Kings Junior High receive team t-shirts

that are made available because of donations from local businesses. “Our business

connections bring resources into the classroom for both character education, team-

building, and academics,” said KJH Principal Nicole Huelsman. KJH would like to thank

the following companies that help make Kings Junior High School #KINGSSTRONG:

Team 7 Red and Blue Teams held their “Team Day” this week and spent some time out at the Kings Stadium doing

team building activities. The Blue Team tie-dyed their shirts and Kona Ice and the Red Team was treated to a cook

out lunch. The White Team will hold their Team Day in October.

Senior Picture Guidelines

Seniors have until November 25, 2014 to submit a picture for the yearbook. Photos must be in color and in

jpg form. They can be submitted by attaching the picture to an email to Mrs. Shields, or submitting the

Kings Integrated Preschool Off to a Great Start

If you haven’t been to the Kings Education Center lately,

there are a lot of changes in the Kings Kids Preschool.

There were 3 new classrooms built this summer to house

our Integrated Preschool Classes. Thursday was “Practice

Day”, where one adult accompanied each student to fa-

miliarize themselves with their new classroom. Preschool

begins on Tuesday, September 2nd.

Kings’ Students Starring in Local Production of Beauty and the Beast

Acting Up, an all-volunteer, young performer’s community theater in Mason, will present four shows of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in September. There are six Kings’ students starring in the show. CIS 5th grader Ellie Toadvine plays an Enchanted Object and a Young Townsperson, KJH 8th grader Zoey FitzGerald plays an Enchanted Object, KJH 8th grader Amy Helms plays a duel role of a Wolf and a Napkin, KHS sophomore Tess Hogan plays Madame de la Grand Bouche, KHS sophomore Michael Kaper plays LeFou, and KHS senior Mac-Kenzie Powell will play a duel role of a Wolf and a Napkin.

The shows will be held on September 19, 20, 21, at the Mason High School Theater, 6100 Mason Montgomery Road, Mason, OH 45040. Performances will be Friday, September 19 at 7:00 pm; Saturday, September 20 at 2 pm. (sign language interpreter will be provided), and 7:00 pm; and Sunday, September 21 at 2 pm.

Kings Women’s Soccer Chipotle Fundraisers

Show your team spirit by joining us for a fundraiser to support Kings womens

soccer. Just come into the 2365 Kings Center Court Chipotle on Tuesday, Sep-

tember 2nd and/or Tuesday, September 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.,

and bring in this flyer, show it on your smartphone or tell the cashier and 50%

of the proceeds will be donated to the team.

Kings Athletic Season Passes Now on Sale

It’s that time of year again to purchase your Kings Athletic Season Passes for 2014-2015. Kings

athletic season passes are a great way for you to support the Kings Athletic programs. Not only

does this money go directly to helping our student-athletes and the programs they participate

in, but you also gain entry to all Kings athletic home events (High School and Junior High), ex-

cluding playoff and tournament contests. You can select the level appropriate for you and your

family and these are described in detail on the printable order form.

Families that select the "Kings Club" package will also receive four (4) reserved seats for home football and basketball

games, along with a reserved parking space for the fall season at Kings Stadium.

Season Passes will be available for pick up after August 18th in the Athletic Office at the high school or at any fall sta-

dium event.

Fastpitch Putt-Putt Fundraiser

Kings Fastpitch Softball Annual Putt-Putt Golf Outing will be held at the

Southwest Golf Ranch on Sunday, September 7th at 1:00 p.m. The cost

is $15 per player or $50 for a team of four. First place team will win 4

tickets & a parking pass to the Kings Homecoming football game

against Milford on October 1oth. They are still looking for hole spon-

Last spring, deadly twisters hit Oklahoma. For many, there was no power but

people still had cell service. Social media helped victims and responders alike

to share information and offer assistance. In the event that something like that

would happen in our area, we will use social media to pass along information.

You can keep up-to-date on what’s going on around the Kings School District

Parent Directories for Kings High School and Kings Junior High School are being

worked on now. The parent directory is a great tool to keep us all connected and in-

cludes a listing of student/parent contact information (address, phone numbers,

email).

Should you wish to be excluded from the directory, please complete the Directory

Opt-Out section at the bottom of the PTO membership form and return to school by

September 8th. The PTO membership form can be found on each school's respective

website in the forms for schedule pick up.

Save the date for the Kings Men’s and Women’s Soccer 5th Annual Cornhole
