Elephantiasis is caused by diferent mosquitos and diferent types o

microorganisms which includes Wuchereria bancroti, Brugiamalayi, and B.timori.

 The extreme enlargement o the limbs and other areas o the body

characterized by elephantiasis, is the result o obstruction o the lymph ow

and possibly o blood circulation.

 Treatment consists o consistent shoe*wearing +to a!oid contact with the irritant

soil and hygiene * daily soa"ing in water with an antiseptic +such as bleachadded, washing the eet and legs with soap and water, application o ointment,

and in some cases, wearing elastic bandages.
