iStartSmart™ Elite Upgrade - Installation Instructions

Minimum System Requirements:

• Hatch All-In-One iStartSmart™ Computer Learning Center v3.0 or above • Internet access - either hard-wired or wireless connection is acceptable • Internet Explorer 9.0 or greater is required. • 3 websites need to be whitelisted on your network if you have restricted access:

The AIO iStartSmart Elite Upgrade will automatically

• Upgrade Shell Squad Games to Version 5.0 (Shell Squad Adventures)

Please Note:

• Any 3rd party software that was loaded and configured into a launch pad in ECLaunch will remain loaded and configured.

Software Installation

• You will need 2 pieces of information from an email sent from Hatch: the download link and the License Code. If you ordered the upgrade and have not received an email, please contact Hatch at 1.800.624.7968

• If you have not used your system in a while, we recommend you start Shell Squad Games. This forces child data to be saved to Hatch Report Management System for use after the upgrade.

• Exit Shell Squad Games (Click Stop or Alt-F4 keys) and Exit ECLaunch (Alt-F4)

• Copy the download link into the internet browser on the iStartSmart computer that you will be upgrading. Hit enter key.

• You will be asked to save or run the executable (this varies based on the browser and version)

Latest versions of Windows Internet Explorer display a box at the bottom of the page

• Click the “Run” button

• You may receive a warning that this file is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer

• Click the “Actions” button

• Click the “More Options” line if you see the following screen

• Click the “Run Anyway” line – shown below next to the red arrow

• An InstallAnywhere box will appear

• An Installation Wizard will provide instructions for installing the Shell Squad Adventures

Upgrade. Please follow the instructions and enter the requested information when prompted:



• Press the “Next” button to continue with the installation. You can cancel the installation at any time by pressing the “Cancel” button.

• On the next screen, enter the License Code that was included in the email sent to you from

Hatch. The License code has 15 Characters. Please enter exactly as shown in your email.



• Press the “Install” button to continue with the installation of the software. Press the “Cancel”

button to stop the upgrade of your system to Shell Squad Adventures.

• While the install is working you will see the following screen:



• When the upgrade installer is complete you will see the screen below.



• Please press “Done” button to complete the installation. The system will automatically restart

ECLaunch.

After ECLaunch Restarts:

Start Shell Squad Adventures by touching the icon on the ECLaunch screen

Note: this final download and install of images and audio files could take between 5

minutes to 1 hour to complete depending on the bandwidth of your internet connection.

A Hatch logo will appear followed by the Hatch animated characters introducing iStartSmart

Shell Squad Games

The “Installing Updates to Shell Squad Adventures” screen displays a thermometer indicating progress of the install and download of required data. This can take between 5 minutes and 1 hour depending on the bandwidth of your internet connection.



• Read and Accept the End User Agreement that appears after the installation is complete

Touch or click in the text box next to “User Name:” and type in your name

Touch or click the vertical box to scroll the text so you can read the agreement

Select “Accept” to agree to the terms of the license and use the software o Selecting “Decline” exits Shell Squad Adventures. Upon re-entering Shell Squad

Adventures, this License Agreement screen will display again.

Congratulations! - You have successfully completed installing the Upgrade to Shell Squad Adventures. If you had a class assigned to this AIO before the upgrade and children in the class – you will see the class login screen and your children can start their new adventures now! Their progress data was automatically downloaded from RMS.



If you see the following screen, then a class is not assigned to your AIO.

Please press or click on the “Setup Wizard” button on the menu. This Wizard will walk you through adding a class and adding children to the class.

o The first Setup Wizard screen will appear:

o Login using your existing RMS account information.

o Type in your email address and password for your RMS account o Touch the “Login” Button o If you have forgotten your password, select the option for “Forgot Password?”

o The next screen will look like the image below (except you will see your classes).



o Select one or several of your classes that are displayed by clicking in the box to the left of the

class name. A mark will appear in the box to indicate it is selected. o If no classes are displayed, add a class by pressing or clicking in the box under “Create a New

Class” and type in the name of the class and press the “Create” button. This will automatically create the new class and display it on the class list. You can then select it.

o You can change the name of the class by pressing or clicking the edit icon to the right of the class name

o Press the “Submit” Button when you are finished selecting, adding or editing the class names.

o If you selected your existing class with children in it

o This will automatically download data from RMS for your existing class including the children in the class to your AIO automatically.

o Congratulations! You are ready to have children play with Shell Squad

Adventures! o The Class Login screen will display the picture(s) of the teacher(s). o Children can now play with the updated Shell Squad Adventures and you can use the

new Teacher features.



o You can verify that your software is at the new version by looking in the upper right corner of the screen. You should see <your computer name> : 5.0.0.0

o If your class is new and there are no children, the system indicates that you should add children:

o Press the Add Child or Photo button and the following screen will appear:

o This confirms that you are the teacher of the class registered on the device. If the name is not

correct, press the “New User” button and you can add yourself as a user as outlined on previous

pages.

o Enter your email address and press “Continue” button

o You will see this menu



o Select “Add Child” button

o Simply enter the child information, take their picture by touching the “Capture Image” buttons,

and then touch the “Save Child” button. Note that the Child Id is optional.

o Repeat selecting the “Add Child” button until you have added all the children in your class.

o Close the Teacher menu by pressing the red X in the upper right corner of the menu. This will

take you to the class login screen.



Congratulations! You are ready to have children play with Shell Squad Adventures!

• When you exit ECLaunch, desktop icons in addition to the familiar ECLaunch icon provide convenient

links to additional help and to the Progress Reports where you can see how the children in your class

are progressing through the skill levels.
