23rd Picture Day!

Principal’s Message

Hi Everybody!

The kids are alright. They are happy and healthy

and on campus learning. Our safety protocols are

working. Thank you for teaming with us as we

work extra hard to ensure a great learning

environment for all our students, and help reduce

the number of COVID casualties in our area.

I’m excited to announce that there will be a

Picture Day Sept. 23rd. A real picture day so you

can send photos to your families for the holidays.

We haven’t done that in a while. We’ll get you the

ordering information in the next week.

I hope to see you tonight on the zoom PTO

meeting. Our fabulous PTO is cranking back up,

and ALL are welcome! Have a lovely three-day

weekend and please take good care!

Your Principal, Ms. Van Housen

Students who completed Summer Learning Bingo got to hang out in the quad with

Ms. Van Housen, eating ice cream, playing duck-duck-goose, and being trees. Thank

you families for encouraging a love of learning all year long!

A new COVID decision tree was issued by our school district (based on

guidance from the state and county departments of health) last week that

really tightens things up. Please don’t be surprised if you’re called to pick up

your child with even one symptom of illness. Once the symptom clears,

student may return to school with a doctor’s note or PCR (negative) test for

COVID. We are taking a hard line on this; we take seriously our responsibility

to minimize the number of COVID casualties in our community.

COVID UpdatesIt must be confusing to not

know exactly what’s happening on campus

related to COVID. The district dashboard

reports the number of positive student cases,

but only those we have to contact trace.

Sometimes a student was not on campus for

several days before a positive test, so those

won’t register because there was no contact.

I will begin this week sending a short update

every Friday through Synergy/PVue. I hope

this will help you feel more secure when

sending your children to school. Here’s

where we are as of August 31st:

TK 1 case 8/17

Close contacts in class all

cleared thru modified

quarantine;

Kinder 1 case 8/16-all cleared

1 case 8/24-no tracing,

student not on campus;

1st No cases so far;

2nd 2 cases 8/23, 2 cases 8/25

All close contacts on

modified quarantine have

tested negative once, will

test again this week (all

cases in 1 classroom);

3rd 1 case 8/16-all cleared;

4th 1 case 8/24-no tracing;

student not on campus

1 case 8/30-tracing now,

letter to parents today

Testing of close contacts

begins today;

5th No cases so far;

6th No cases so far.

Quarantine Questions

So now what? Your child has

been sent home because of a

positive test or a close contact

or with symptoms.

Our teachers are working hard

to prepare work for students who

need to stay home. Please email your

teacher and they will let you know

when the work is available to be

picked up in the office by someone

who is asymptomatic.

If needed, Ms. Van Housen has been

know to drop work at family’s

doorsteps. Whatever it takes, we

want to keep our students

learning…and healthy!

Every morning that your child is

home, our wonderful Academic

Intervention Teacher Mrs. Grimes

can help get started via zoom.

Topic: Mrs. Grimes’s Quarantine Club

Time: This is a recurring meeting

8:00 – 8:30 every day M-F

School Site Council elections are here!

The Elliott Ranch Elementary School Site Council (SSC) serves a vital role in formulating and

approving our school’s achievement and safety plan, as well as approving our site budget. We

currently have 2 vacancies on our SSC. We will begin accepting nominations for the two vacant

seats from now until Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. You may nominate yourself or

one other parent of an Elliott Ranch student. Please notify the individual that you nominate.

A ballot will be sent home via school messenger on September 10, 2021. All ballots must be

returned by end of day Wednesday, September 15, 2021.

To submit a nomination, email ([email protected]) or fax (916) 683-3862. Please provide name

and biography of qualifications (no more than 250 words). Please contact the office for any

questions or clarifications.

Thank you for your interest and support for Elliott Ranch Elementary School.
