PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE:

Welcome back to school for Term 2. This week Australia remembers the ANZAC soldiers at many services across the country. The Bega town Memorial Service was well attended, our students, staff and families representing BVPS at this local event with dignity and respect. Tomorrow the school will hold our own ANZAC service at 10am in the Hall, all welcome.

Welcome to Miss Emily Joliffe who is completing a 4 week professional experience teacher training with Mr Jennings and 2/3J. Emily is currently completing her teaching degree through Curtin

This school holiday period for many of our students, families and staff was full of adventure and fun, for some ... the holiday break has brought considerable change and for others in our school community the past few weeks has seen the passing of loved ones. Life is constantly presenting challenges to us all. It is extremely important at this time to remind ourselves that school is always a place of learning, it is a safe and happy place for our students to do their best.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED Volunteers are needed for 1st Wednesday of month and 3rd Friday of month. Also one day a month on the 5th Friday. Canteen duties are between 9am and 2pm. Job sharing is another way of helping. We will be doing prep work on a day to be confirmed. If anyone can help it would be wonderful.

Dear Parents/Carers, STEWART HOUSE is a charity that has supported Bega Valley Public students and other public school children. We are

now asking for a small donation to assist Stewart House is order that this support can continue. Donation envelopes were sent home today with the newsletter, we have spare envelopes at the School Office if you have misplaced yours. Donation/envelopes need to be returned to the School Office by Wednesday 11th May 2016 which is Stewart House Day. All entries of a $2.00 coin donation go in the draw for a chance to win a $4000 Family Holiday organised through Diploma World Travel. Thanks for your continued support.

Mothers Day Stall The P&C will be running a Mother’s day stall on Friday the 6

th of May. Gifts will

range from $1 to $5 each. If you could help out between 10.30am and 1pm please contact Rod on 0410529517. P&C Meeting Our next meeting is Monday the 2

nd of May

at 5.30pm in the staff room. It was great to see some new parents at the last meeting and we encourage all parents, carers and grandparents to attend meetings. Canteen Volunteers Needed If you can help out on Wednesday’s or Fridays once every 4 weeks or so please see Sheryl in the Canteen. Alternatively Sheryl, Kimone and Judi have been doing some food prep on Tuesday’s if that suits better. A couple of hours each month would be very helpful.
