"Vivian Bailey Day" - Monday, June 22, 2015The Wilde Lake Village Board recently designated June 22 as “Vivian
Bailey Day” in Wilde Lake. Mrs. Vivian (Millie) Bailey, a long-time
Running Brook resident who is 97 years old, continues to volunteer and
raise funds to help students at Running Brook Elementary School. She
was recently invited to the White House where she met President Obama
and Vice President Biden. In addition, Mrs. Bailey collects contributions for packages that she sends to
servicemen and women overseas.
Wilde Lake Community Association invites the community to a reception to honor Mrs. Bailey for her
outstanding contributions to the community. Please join your friends and neighbors to hear about Mrs.
Bailey's experiences and commitment to service while enjoying light refreshments in the Bernice Kish
Gallery at Slayton House (Lobby Gallery) on Monday, June 22 from 4:30pm to 6:00pm. Registration is

Courtney Carpenter, David’s Certified Nutrition Specialist, who has provided me with personal guidance
at [email protected], said she and other managers have offered over 20 years of quality service
to the residents of Wilde Lake and Howard County. She reminded me that owner David London, whose
caricature is seen in ads, was raised here, is a WLHS and UM grad, and appreciates being WL
Village’s natural products provider since 1986 when his parents consolidated their OM store here.
David’s offers quality products, food-in-bulk, a wide-range of products and services for everyone. Ask
about small group tours, health and aging, mom talks and their community involvement.

Columbia Road Pedestrian Overpass Repairs
The pedestrian overpass that traverses Old Columbia Road near the Running Brook Elementary
School is in need of repair. Columbia Association expects work to commence on or shortly after June
22nd, to take advantage of the school closing. The overpass will be closed to pedestrian traffic for the
duration of the project, which will take approximately 3 weeks to complete.

ReImagine Long Reach Village Center Howard County Executive Allan H. Kittleman, along with the Long Reach VillageBoard, has scheduled meetings to seek input from residents about the revitalization of the Long Reach Village Center. Additional sessions will be held from 7-9pm at Stonehouse in the Village Center on June 11 and September 17. Howard County Government acquired the majority of the Village Center property in October 2014
and purchased the former Safeway site in February 2015. Columbia Association hosting annual KidsDay party at Columbia SportsPark on
June 6KidsDay, the fun, annual welcome-to-summer event designed
for kids and hosted by Columbia Association (CA), returns on
Saturday, June 6, with a party from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Columbia SportsPark.
KidsDay is open to the public; there’s no need to sign up. Just
show up and enjoy a day of super-fun activities at Columbia SportsPark, 5453 Harpers Farm Road toward the back of the
Harper’s Choice Village Center. KidsDay is sponsored by Greenberries.
Mini-golf and all-you-can-hit batting cages will be free for all kids ages 13 and younger: those 14 and up
can pay $5 for one activity or $7 total for both. There will also be numerous fun offerings available and free to all, including arts and crafts, a moon bounce, Zumba® for kids, face painting, animal balloons,
dance music, a photo booth, and a variety of games and structured activities. While you and your family
are having fun, learn more about CA’s great youth programs, classes, camps and special offers.Concessions will be available for purchase, including food, beverages, snacks and ice cream. Door
prizes will also be held during KidsDay.

CA’s Lakefront Wednesdays Lunchtime Concert Series
Columbia Association’s (CA) free weekly Lakefront Wednesdays Lunchtime Concert Series begins
June 17 with the first of nine performances at Lake Kittamaqundi in Downtown Columbia.
The concerts are held every Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m.
This year’s schedule of performers includes:

The Village in Howard hosts Appraisal RoadshowThe Village in Howard will host an Appraisal Roadshow on Saturday, June 6 at 7pm at historic Oliver's Carriage House. This gala fundraiser is open to the public and will provide a professional appraisal by a gemologist and a generalist appraiser. The limit is two items per person. You may enter your item for appraisal at $15 per item or be a spectator for $12. This fundraising event to benefit The Village in Howard will include refreshments.
