Non-technical Skills & Categories
NOTECHS being subjective are not easy to assess. The use of Behavioural Markers (BMs) lead to more objective assessments, as seen in the next slides.

EMAS Marine Cadet Training Programme
EMAS Cadet Training Programme was started in 2006
To date 97 Cadets have availed this programme
EMAS Sponsorship is provided from Cadet to Master/Chief Engineer rank on EMAS vessels
Our 1st batch of Cadets have already become Chief Officers / Second Engineers on EMAS vessels
Deck/Engine Cadets attend courses at Singapore Maritime Academy and ALAM, Malaysia
Additionally, there are intakes from Merchant Marine Training Centre, Samutprakan, Thailand
On joining EMAS Marine, the Cadets go through Induction, Orientation, Leadership & Teamwork courses to familiarise them with the company values, vision and goals
EMAS Marine Cadet Training Programme
We would like to encourage participation of local cadets from countries where EMAS fleet is operating
The cadets will be sponsored to attend approved maritime training institutes to get their Certificate of Competency

Safety Management Awareness Course at EMAS Academy
Main objectives are to improve fleet:
a) situation response b) safety standards c) communications with shore management
Our safety & environmental management (SEMM) awareness course ensures our senior officers are: Fully conversant with the company safety & environmental
management system
SEMM policies/procedures are learnt through lectures with simulator scenario providing improved understanding for applying SEMM processes
Course is conducted by senior EMAS staff
