Printed book sales are down, magazines are struggling, and more newspapers are going bankrupt every week. A the same time, new technologies such as e-ink and e-paper are gaining popularity and becoming mainstream. Increasingly, digital text formats such as PDF and epub are displacing print and more magazines, newspapers and scholarly journals are shifting to online versions.

Digital camera companies have entered into a frenzied race to persuade consumers to purchase their equipment. A strong selling point has been the megapixel capacity of digital camera sensors, and how supposedly, more megapixels equals a better photo. Conventional wisdom, however, may not be an accurate representation of reality.

On Thursday, March 5th, students from NYU celebrated the launch of nyufashion.com at Pop Burger. The Fashion Business Association previously had a printed magazine version called NYChic. It was the only publication for over 40,000 students but at a whopping $9000 for each run, editors decided to go digital.

Billions of people all over the world buy new electronics such as cellphones, PDA’s, computers, etc every year. The average lifespan for many of these items is 2 years. What happens to them after users discard them The percentage of electronic trash is growing significantly every year. Many of these items are not biodegradable and contain elements that are hazardous to people and the planet.

Do you have any advice for new DJs? How is it at becoming a DJ in today’s world? If someone were a young DJ, what would the best way to gain exposure in the record industry?Well, I think the best DJs have a way of expressing the new music they like and being able to play it in a way that makes people want to stay in the club or festival. I always say be true to what you really like and then the people will find you.

Double exposure refers to exposing a photographic frame twice. It remains one of the most intriguing and exciting photographic techniques. Much of it has to do with the fact that the photographer never really knows how a double exposure is going to come out.

It has come to be an accepted stereotype and an embodiment of the way of life of an artist that he or she expects to live in deprivation as long as there is art to be made. Such sacrifices are not necessarily the best way to live and often force artists to abandon the creation of works in favor of a more banal occupation.

*emerge: What was the name of the hat designer we went to see? Can you talk a little about where you met him and how you know him?

DJ Larry Tee: Victor Osborne, and we became aquainted when I visted Fire Island last year. He was hanging out with the MAO PR guys and we hit it off.

*emerge: What was that about the custom Larry Tee sunglasses that you are working on? Where did you get that invite? Who is drawing them? Can you tell us a little about the idea?

DJ Larry Tee: When I was a kid, I lied about my eyesight so I could have glasses. I messed up my eyes probably, which shows my devotion to the black things that sit on people faces. And a couple years ago, I became acquainted with the designer of Ksubi Sunglasses who had sold his first brand to another company at the age of 22...I was like I can do that! So that started me collecting glasses and images of glasses that I liked. Since I am a bit of a star in Brazil, the guys that do the brand Chilli Beans, found out that I wanted to design sunglasses so I sent them ideas of what I wanted....and now this fall, I have a couple glasses that they will produce as a special promotion.

*emerge: What kind of work did it take to make the album Club Badd? How many instruments have you used in the production? Do you sample stuff you find while DJing?

DJ Larry Tee: Well, Club Badd took me about 5 years to make because I was originally making music to play at my clubs that was more glamorous than what was being produced. When LICKY, the song I wrote featuring Princess Superstar, became a hit on MTV Europe, it opened the door for everyone wanting more music. So I got all my favorite freaks from the intent and made songs arpound them. Its totally a new idea for a dance records but I am happy that everyone seems really into it. We are working on the video for the one that PerezHilton did with me. SO exciting!

*emerge: Can you talk a little about how the album relates to the current Web 2.0 generation (myspace, facebook, youtube, etc..) How are you promoting it online? Any specific online technologies that you are using?

DJ Larry Tee: Well, Almost every song on it has been blogged on

Blogspot.com, Myspace, Youtube or whatever, so it is totally a product of the Youtube generation. I sing with the artists there and sometimes record in different cities. We just use the internet to send the information around. I dont know how I did anything before the internet.

*emerge: Can you talk a little about Mel Merio and Christopher Just? I know Mel has a makeup company in Germany.

DJ Larry Tee: Mel Merio and Christopher Just are two of my best friends and

they moved to NYC to work on her album and his mixes partially for my album. Mel is a TV star in Vienna and a cosmetic empress in that she has her own line in Europe. She is oen of those people who gets whatever she wants so I thought, Why not work with her...She is a true star.

*emerge: How do you deal with the constant burden of having to travel. Are you often jet-lagged? What are your favorite cities to perform in?

DJ Larry Tee: I never get tired of touring but sometimes I have to make

an effort to see my friends more. I get isolated when I have been away too long touring. But I love to visit RIO, and Sydney, and Barcelona, and well, everywhere!! I am a citizen of the world.

*emerge: What is the message that you are trying to say in your album? Do you have an overall theme? Is there something really important to you that you would like to express in your music?

DJ Larry Tee: I want to express that people have a good time. This is a totally sexy party album. The sexual themes are hard to ignore for sure as half of them cant even be played on the radio...in America. In the UK, they aren’t so crazy about what they will play or WONT play,.I think I am trying to say....have more sex...and laugh about it!

DJ Larry Tee: Well, I think

Do you foresee yourself making many YouTube videos? What about making a music video for some of the tracks

DJ Larry Tee: I see many more videos on Youtube than I do on MTV. MTV abandoned the idea of music years ago for reality shows and they should change their name. They don’t support music at all. Youtube is great when I want to see new stuff. My current fave is The Presets “If I Know You” and the “ANIMAL COLLECTIVE AND PANDA BEARS VIDEOS.”

*emerge: What are your picks for this years dance tracks? What’s your top 5 favorite tunes?

DJ Larry Tee: DANCE music is such a small part of my tastes so I recommend non dance stuff like Pacific, Deerhunter, Animal Collective, The Pains of being Pure at Heart, and Fire and Reason...

One month prior to the advertisement being placed. Sponsored copies will appear a maximum of twice every month for the web version, and twice every six months for the PDF version.
