Hello Fabulous Emerson Families~
Welcome to winter and 2015! I hope that you and your family had a fun-filled and memorable
Christmas break! We are now into the heart of the school year with the second marking period
ending on Friday, January 16, 2015. Emerson students are receiving an amazing educational
experience both in and out of the classroom! The entire staff at Emerson believes that learning
experiences happen all over our building, not just in the classroom setting. Check out the newslet-
ter portion of the Emerson website to see pictures of the learning that is taking place. We have a
really GREAT thing going on here at Emerson and in Owosso Public Schools!
Wednesday, January 14th and Thursday, January 15th are half-days of school for students. The
teaching staff will be involved in professional development activities on the afternoon of both days.
Monday, January 19th is a Teacher Work Day so there is no school for students on that day.
Report Cards will come home with students on Friday, January 30th.
Tuesday, January 20th is Polar Vortex Night for the elementary students of Owosso Public Schools. Owosso parents and children are invited to Owosso Middle School for Polar Vortex Night Tuesday, January 20th 5:00-7:00pm. Parents will have a unique opportunity to hear an engaging 45 minute presentation about the bond proposal and its impact on our families, the Owosso School District and the Owosso community. Students will be engaged in hands-on science, read-ing and math activities. **Bus transportation will be provided from your home school (pick up time is 5:00) to OMS and back to your home school after the program. ** 5:00-6:00 pm Enjoy a delicious spaghetti dinner with your family in the OMS cafeteria. 6:15-7:00 pm Parent presentation with Dr. Tuttle regarding the bond proposal, while children are engaged in hands-on science, reading and math activities. There will be a chance to win 1 of 10 gift cards! All children will receive exciting materials and a free book to take home! Parents, please fill out and return to your home school by January 15th the bottom half of the flyer that was sent home with your child earlier this week. Winter is still with us! Please help your child to remember their snow clothes for recess. It also
is a good idea to pack an extra sweatshirt for your child to wear in their classroom for the really
cold days. Thank you for your support!
I hope that you all have a fantastic weekend and healthy week to come! As always…Go STATE
and GO TROJANS!!! Hey baseball fans…only 42 more days until the pitchers and catchers report
for Spring Training!
Take Care~
