“With the Sector-based Work Academies we can recruit individuals who are motivated, promote team work and really understand our business. From day one, these individuals make a positive impact on the business and their attitude and work ethic not only reflects on them but impacts on all staff. The positive effects are enormous.
“The calibre of candidates we hire are of very high quality and have benefited from attending training at the College, which improves
their communication and customer service skills - skills that are a top priority as a bus driver and are extremely important to our company. I would recommend any business to consider this alternative route to recruitment - we have not looked back since.”

TRAINEESHIPS
EMPLOYMENT SERVICEWhether you are looking for temporary part-time workers or a permanent member of staff to enhance your current team, we can help.
Provide us with your job vacancies and we will promote these to our students; call us to discuss your workforce recruitment needs and we will work with you to ensure that you have access to the very best talent. Our team is on-hand to help you with the recruitment and selection process … and it’s all FREE.
Have more than one vacancy? Recruit with Sector-based Work Academies
Working with Jobcentre Plus, we identify candidates to undertake a bespoke recruitment programme. Sector-based Work Academies can provide you with new employees that have the skills and competencies to make a positive impact on your business from day one.
If you have a temporary shortage of staff, a surge in orders or simply an increased workload, Traineeships could be the answer you’re looking for. A Traineeship can help your business during critical times, support project work and be the start of you taking on an apprentice.
What is it?
A Traineeship is a structured programme that combines education with work experience and enables businesses to play a part in developing the next generation of employees.
How does it work?
Traineeships can last between six weeks and six months depending on the needs of your business. It is essentially a work experience placement that includes formal training from the College for the individual, including work preparation training, interpersonal skills and industry and business
information. Individuals also benefit from English and maths support from our expert team - making them highly employable and effective in your business.
Business benefits …
✔ No upfront training costs for the business - you do not have to pay the trainee*
✔ You could be eligible for a £1,500 grant if the Traineeship progresses to an Apprenticeship
✔ Support with recruitment ✔ Be a part of supporting the next generation, benefiting the local
community ✔ Meets corporate social responsibility requirements ✔ Enables existing staff to develop management, coaching and
mentoring skills
*It is recommended that the business supports the trainee with travel and food expenses.

24+ ADVANCED LEARNING LOANSThe 24+ Advanced Learning Loan scheme enables those aged 24 or over to apply for a loan to cover their course fees if they are studying a level 3 or 4 course.
Key facts ✔ To qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan you must:
• be aged 24 and over at the start of your course• be a resident in the UK• be studying a course at level 3 or 4 (including QCF Certificates
and Diplomas, Access to Higher Education)• have not previously had a loan to do the same course subject
and level.
✔ You will only be able to apply for a loan to meet the upfront costs of your qualification, which will be paid directly to the College.
✔ The loans are not means tested or credit checked so if you meet the criteria you will be able to apply for a loan whether you are employed or unemployed.
✔ You don’t pay anything upfront for your course fees and if you’re not earning over £21,000, you won’t have to pay anything back (certain criteria apply).
✔ If your loan is to cover the fees for an Access to Higher Education course and you progress and complete a university-level (higher education) course, you will not have to pay back your 24+ Advanced Learning Loan.
Courses marked with the 24+ symbol 24+
Government funding for students aged 24+ at level 3 or 4 is provided through the 24+ Advanced Learning Loans.
Therefore, there are separate fees for these courses which can be higher than the fees quoted to those aged under 24. This is because the loan is for the full value of the training rather than a contribution to the costs.
If you are aged 24+ and would like to study a level 3 or 4 course, please see our website (www.cityplym.ac.uk) for up-to-date fee information.
