Seismic Dam age Inform at ion (th e 350th Release)

(As of 14:00 Febru ar y 8, 2012)

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency (NISA) confirmed the current

situation of Fukushima Dai-ichi Nuclear Power Station (NPS), Tokyo

Electric Power Co., Inc. (TEPCO) as follows:

Major upda tes a re a s follows:

1. Nuclear P ower St at ions (NPSs)

・ Fuk ushima Dai-ichi NPS

The accum ulat ed water in t he basemen t of th e tur bine building of Un it 2 was

transferred to the miscellaneous solid waste reduction processing facilities

(from 14:14, Febru ar y 7).

The accum ulat ed water in t he basemen t of th e tur bine building of Un it 3 was

transferred to the miscellaneous solid waste reduction processing facilities(from 09:49, Febru ar y 5 t o 13:56, Febru ar y 7).

An a ccum ula tion of wat er was foun d in th e sta rt ing tr an sform er cable duct in

Unit 5, in the main transformer cable duct in Unit 5, in the water intake

electric cable duct in Unit 5, and in the seawater piping duct in Unit 5

(Febru ar y 7).

The surface dose rate of the sampling container for the accumulated water

an d th e results of th e nuclide ana lysis were as follows.

In t he sta rt ing tra nsform er cable duct: 8u Sv/h

In t he ma in tr an sform er cable duct: 10u Sv/h

In t he int ak e water electr ic cable duct: 8u Sv/h

In the seawa ter piping duct: 8u Sv/h

The result of th e nuclide ana lysis for t he sta rt ing tr an sform er cable duct was,

I-131: less than the detection limit, Cs-134: 2.0x10-1Bq/cm 3, Cs-137:

2.9x10-1Bq/cm 3.

The result of the nuclide analysis for the main transformer cable duct was,

I-131: less than the detection limit, Cs-134: 7.3x10-2Bq/cm 3, Cs-137:

1.3x10-1Bq/cm 3.

The r esult of the n uclide ana lysis for t he int ake power cable duct was, I-131:

less th an th e detection limit, Cs-134: 1.4x10-1Bq/cm 3, Cs-137: 2.0x10-1Bq/cm 3.

The result of the nuclide analysis for the seawater piping duct was, I-131:

less th an th e detection limit, Cs-134: 8.2x10-2Bq/cm 3, Cs-137: 1.1x10-1Bq/cm 3.

An accumulation of water was found in the heavy oil piping trench on theeast side of Unit 5, in t he storm dr ain piping trench in Units 5 and 6, in th e

piping duct for ra dioactive liquid in Un it 5, in t he int ak e power cable duct in

Unit 6, and in th e main t ra nsform er cable duct in Unit 6 (Februa ry 8).

The surface dose rate of the sampling container for the accumulated water

was as follows:

In th e heavy oil piping tr ench: 4u Sv/h

In t he storm dra in piping trench in Units 5 and 6: 4u Sv/h

In th e ra dioactive fluid piping duct: 3u Sv/h

In t he int ake power cable duct: 3u Sv/h

In t he ma in tr ansform er cable duct: 3u Sv/h

The nu clide ana lysis of th e sam pled water is being condu cted a t pr esent.

The water overflow was found from the temporary pool while pumping the

sub-drain water for the sub-drain clean-up test (around 09:40, February 8).

The pump was suspended and then overflow of the water stopped (around

10:15 on the same day). As a result of the on-site inspection, there was no

out flow to th e dra in dit ch a nd n o out flow to th e sea. The result of the nu clide

an alysis wa s, Cs-134: 3.4x10-1

Bq/cm3

an d Cs-137: 5.2x10-1

Bq/cm3

, which wasth e same r esult a s th e nuclide ana lysis of th e sub-dra in wat er. The volum e of

th e overflowed wat er from th e ta nk is now being assessed.
