Welcome
Welcome on behalf of the Enaro
Steering Group.
A brief word of introduction about
Enaro.
History
In 1989, the first European Conference on the Reception of Asylum Seekers was organised in Papendal (Holland): Common awareness that we all share the
same problems and challenges in our daily work.
Discussions about different ways of cross-border cooperation between the European reception organisations.
History In Amsterdam The Netherlands in 2002 after
the 7th European Conference in Brussels (2001).
5 organizations founded Enaro: COA the Netherlands Red Cross Denmark Migration Board from Sweden Department for Refugees in the Czech
Republic and Fedasil, Belgium
The start of the exchange programmes.
Member organisations
The number (19 right now) of Enaro member
organisations has grown ever since. Today, 14
countries participate in the fall exchange
programme.
Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary,
Italy, Latvia, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland,
Serbie, Sweden, Switzerland
Structure
Enaro is an informal network.
A steering group with representatives from all member organisations.
Steering group gathers twice a year: spring and fall (closing conference this year in Serbia).

Presidency: 2011: Slovak Republic 2012: Italy As from 2013: International Secretariat
Responsible for the Enaro Secretariat is AWAS (Marisa Sapiano from Malta)
Goal
The goals of Enaro:Exchange of staff and expertise
to exchange expertise and best practices…
… by sending two staff members per country abroad for 1 week, twice a year.
