BRISTOL CITY COUNCIL ESTABLISHES MORE MOBILE AND FLEXIBLE WORKPLACE TO SUPPORT DIGITAL SERVICES AND COPE WITH BUDGET CUTS

ObjectiveBristol’s 432,000 residents rely on Bristol City Council for a variety of public services, from social care and education to planning and transportation. To address budget constraints, the council has embarked on a substantial business transformation programme, which involves digitalising more services and consolidating offices. To support the initiative, the council needed a more flexible and fit-for-purpose environment for workplace IT.

SolutionBristol City Council partnered with Computacenter on a comprehensive project to deliver a new workplace IT environment for its 7,000 employees. Computacenter helped to evaluate the best software options and licensing models; design, build and install the new environment, which includes a new backup infrastructure; and train users. Computacenter’s remote deployment methodology minimised disruption and costs for the council and its staff.

OutcomeThe new user environment is a key enabler for the council’s business transformation programme. It will help reduce costs and improve services through simplified management, easier collaboration and greater staff productivity.

COMPUTACENTER HELPS ROYAL MAIL GROUP REDUCE COSTS AND IMPROVE QUALITY THROUGH ITS MANAGED PRINT SERVICE

ObjectiveRoyal Mail’s internal printer estate spans more than 1,000 locations and supports around 30,000 users. To overcome availability and quality issues, Royal Mail needed to take a more user-centric and proactive approach to managing and maintaining its printer estate.

SolutionComputacenter has been providing managed print services to Royal Mail since April 2015. Its engineers proactively maintain and refresh more than 4,000 devices across the UK, and work with users to understand their printing needs. As part of the service, Computacenter captures analytics on printer and toner utilisation, which helps Royal Mail maximise its resources.

OutcomeWithin the first year of the managed print service, the reliability of Royal Mail’s printer estate has greatly improved with significant cost savings identified. This has provided internal customers with access to high-quality services across the UK. As a result, employees can ensure they have the information they need, enabling them to blend print and digital capabilities to achieve the best outcomes for the business and its millions of customers.

The Computacenter service is critical to us on a day-to-day basis. It has improved the availability and quality of print services for our internal customers across the UK.

YORKSHIRE BUILDING SOCIETY EMPOWERS EMPLOYEES WITH NEW WORKPLACE ENVIRONMENT

ObjectiveTo cater for steady growth, Yorkshire Building Society decided to open a new office building in Broad Gate, Leeds. With an empty shell to work with, the organisation wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to establish a dynamic workplace environment that would maximise employee productivity and satisfaction. Its IT and property teams had just 100 days to equip the new facility.

SolutionThe building society partnered with Computacenter to design and deliver a new workplace environment including thin clients and IP telephony to enable hot-desking, collaboration solutions and digital signage. Computacenter also helped migrate 750 users to the new site, provided training and is responsible for supporting the new technologies on an ongoing basis.

OutcomeDelivered on time, to budget and with the required ‘wow factor’, the new workplace has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from employees. The new facility encourages greater collaboration, provides a better employee experience and maximises resources and productivity. It will also support Yorkshire Building Society as it continues to grow.

Computacenter was pretty much part of our internal team throughout the project, and worked closely with the IT and property teams, focusing on exactly the same goals.

WORCESTERSHIRE ACUTE HOSPITALS NHS TRUST MAKES SMARTER DIGITAL CHOICES WITH COMPUTACENTER DEVICE EVALUATION EXERCISE

ObjectiveTo improve patient welfare, Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is replacing manual notes and charts in hospitals with an electronic prescribing and medicine administration system. The solution will enable nurses and other clinicians to access clinical apps at the point of care. With 5,000 members of staff potentially impacted by the change, the trust needed to select the right device to support the initiative.

SolutionWith a multitude of devices on the market, the trust turned to Computacenter to conduct a product evaluation exercise. Based on user profiles, performance and hospital requirements, Computacenter created a shortlist of nine devices and arranged for the hospital to borrow loan units. Devices were then scored against a range of criteria.

OutcomeThe digitalisation initiative will not only make it easier for clinicians to do their jobs by simplifying administration but also improve patient safety. The project will minimise the risk of errors in medicine prescriptions, simplify the exchange of data, reduce delays and provide comprehensive audit trails, which will all help enhance the quality of patient care.
