HIGH ALTITUDE TIPS AND INFORMATIONThe Ritz-Carlton, Bachelor Gulch sits at an elevation of8,100 feet above sea level. At this altitude, the atmosphereis more diffuse, so with every breath your body inhalesless oxygen than it does at sea level. This diminishedoxygen supply can cause symptoms known as acutemountain sickness (AMS) also known as altitude sickness.The most common symptom is a headache. Othersymptoms include dizziness, fatigue, shortness of breath,loss of appetite, nausea, and disturbed sleep. In additionto being at a high altitude, the Colorado climate is alsomuch drier than most areas of the country. For this reason,it is highly recommended that you drink extra water whileyou are here in the mountains. Other ways to feel greatduring your stay are: to drink alcohol in moderation, avoidstrenuous physical activity during the first day or two, andeat regular meals high in carbohydrates. The Ritz-CarltonSpa hosts an oxygen bar to relax, read a magazine, sipsome herbal tea and breathe in almost pure oxygen toreplenish red blood cells.

Recreation PoliciesAdvanced reservations are strongly recommended as availability is limited. At drop-off for any Ritz Kids program, you will be required to complete paperwork, including a medical release form, basic enrollment form, and policies and procedures. Children who are five years old must present proof of age at or before enrollment. Programs cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be subject to a 50% cancellation fee; failure to provide advanced notice of a cancellation will result in full charge of the program. Outdoor activities may be cancelled on short notice due to inclement or dangerous conditions. Cancellation is solely at the discretion of the recreation department.

SKI NANNYDesigned to assist parents of children participatingin full day Beaver Creek Group Ski School* lessons,our Ski Nanny program is available to childrenbetween the ages of 5 and 12. Before departing forRitz Kids for a day on the slopes, kids can fuel upwith light breakfast such as milk, cereal and granolabars. In the afternoon, Ski Nanny picks up childrenfrom Ski School and brings them back to the hotelfor an afternoon snack, allowing parents to get inevery last run. Program drop offs and pickups takeplace in the Ritz Kids room located on the first floorof the resort.
