Could you be a sponsor of The Energize Awards 2016?

This year is our 10th anniversary of the Energize Awards, the local community sports awards which recognise and celebrate volunteers, coaches, clubs, groups and organisations who make active lifestyles possible for our communities.

Our 10th Energize Awards also fall in an Olympic and Paralympic Year, so we hope to make it extra special for the fantastic people we'll be celebrating. This year’s event will be at the Telford International Centre on Thursday 3rd November and Eddie ‘the Eagle’ Edwards will be our special guest speaker.

We have a mixture of audiences at the event, from local clubs, coaches and volunteers to local employers and schools. For the past seven years, we have had the full support of the Shropshire Star as media partner. The local BBC is also extremely supportive of the awards and are committed to back the Newcomer of the Year award category for a fifth year.

We have a wide range of opportunities for you to support the event this year, these are listed in our sponsorship brochure which can be sent upon request. We are particularly looking for a title sponsor, associate sponsors and category sponsors, although any support that can be offered would be gratefully received. Have a look at the video highlights from the Energize Awards 2015:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InPKXqhgFQ8

To benefit from full exposure in the Shropshire Star’s launch feature in June, please let us know your intention to support this event by Friday 20th May.

If you would like to know more please contact Tamsin Foster, Marketing and Communications Manager [email protected] / 01743 297191.

Workplace Health Week 23-27th May 2016 Make a deal for workplace health week Workplace Health Week, which runs from 23-27 May, is a week-long programme of activity designed to inspire businesses and encourage workers to get active. Now in its second-year, the campaign is organised by Workplace Challenge in collaboration with Energize and other County Sports Partnerships taking part across England.

NHS guidelines state that adults should try to do at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity, such as cycling or fast walking, every week to stay healthy – but an estimated 40 per cent of people do not exercise enough, according to Public Health England. And it is not just our health that is suffering. An unhealthy workforce contributes to sickness absence, reduced productivity and an estimated cost of £14.9 billion to businesses in lost working days every year.

The highlight of the week is a Midday Mile at 12noon on Thursday 26 May, where individuals are encouraged to leave their desk to walk, jog, run or cycle one mile – with the support of their employers of course. Energize welcome organisations around Shrewsbury to join them for a Midday Mile around the Quarry on Thursday 26th for gentle exercise and networking! Further information. For more details visit https://www.workplacechallenge.org.uk/wphw2016 .

If you work for an organisation within Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin you are eligible to sign up to the Workplace Challenge for free www.workplacechallenge.org.uk Energize are working in partnership with Shropshire Community Leisure Trust to offer users a free 3 day swim and gym pass at their venues across Shropshire.

Regional Get-Togethers – helping to prepare rowing clubs for the future Over the past four months, members of the rowing community from across the country have come together for a series of Regional Get-Togethers. Hosted by Regional Rowing Councils, volunteers and British Rowing staff delivered key updates on the sport’s competition structure, provided advice and guidance on anti-doping, and discussed how clubs can prepare for the expected surge in interest around Rio 2016. Ready for Rio? was the question posed to all who attended the events. Responses varied from club to club but all were keen to capitalise on the expected interest around Rio 2016. Following on from these discussions, British Rowing will now summarise and share the ideas that came out of these sessions through an online ‘Ready for Rio’ toolkit, which will also include activation ideas, branded marketing templates and media guidance.
