In (1) June 2015 in Georgia was to organized a Brokerage & Workshop Events event bringing together well-targeted ideas and clearly defined project ideas from the research and business sectors from EU & ENP countries for facilitating knowledge transfer and cooperating joint possible projects. The events was also an important opportunity for local public authorities to engage and learn stakeholders’ needs. The events was aimed at research institutions in EE/RES offering expertise and technologies from the ENP and EU countries, startups and entrepreneurs in EE/RES with project and business ideas, and manufacturers and other companies looking for innovative solutions and new cooperation partners. In addition, during the event was awarded six (6) Innovation Vouchers/ Projects with 4000 Euro that was funded within ENER2i project. Within ENER2i project has been organized EU Brokerage Events (Brussels) as well facilitating contacts and cooperation between ENP area and EU in a field of EE and RES in business. Selection of Georgian participants has been conducting through identification of experts acting in RES/EE filed in the Georgian universities (Tbilisi State University, Georgian Technical University; Ilia State University,) as well as scientific research institutions, private companies and state institutions (GITA). Final decision is made by ENERi project partner from EU countries. From Georgia were participating researchers, entrepreneurs from Technical University, Ilia State University, and State Organization (GITA) working on Biofuel, Wind Energy, Energy Efficiency, Innovation and Technology Development

In (2) June 2015 an one-day innovation training workshop was organized on various aspects of innovation related to EE/RES. This workshop linked to the local brokerages under Local Networking and Brokerage Event. During event EU partners contributed their unique competencies (innovation concepts, clustering, funding of EE/RES innovations, etc.) to the training sessions. The event was organized in cooperation with Georgian Technical University.Twinning is to support the development of the EE/RES sector in Georgia and to build linkages between actors in the ENP and EU countries. Twinning introduces good practice in the countries of the Eastern partnership, and will strengthen the capacities and technological know-how of selected stakeholders in the ENP countries, and enhance mutual learning.There was organized and conducted study visit to Twente University/Netherlands and Summer School in Transylvania University /Rumania. from Georgia were participating searchers from Technical University, Ilia State University working Biomass/Briquette, Biofuel, Wind Energy, Co-evluationary Decisions in Energy fields.

The main objectives of the project are

- to invent of mobile and operated ecologically clean, energy saver drying apparatus; - to invent and test of 2 pilot equipment on destination point, in

agricultural condition;

Mentioned innovated construction drying apparatus gives an opportunity of thrifty using of electric power with using of sunny energy during daytime without deceleration of drying process. Within project is planned to construct trial model, to examine the technical characteristic and work out drying methods.

The project is implemented in cooperation with Georgian Technical University

Objective of the innovation project is launch of serial production of small power (1-5 kW) concentrated solar energy parabolic steam generator at the plant of the company. Startup phase involves production of pilot model. Engineers from design department of company and professors from GTU developed shop drawings of the generator. Mechanical and screening part has been produced. Currently preparation of design drawings of solar tracking and automated management systems is ongoing.Temperature of water heated by of solar panels that are commonly used in Georgia is approximately 40-50 C°. Therefore use of such panels is feasible for low temperature consumers in combination with two or three level heat collection buffer reservoirs. In case of use of parabolic steam generator it is possible to heat water to higher degrees or even produce water steam. This innovation will significantly increase area of usage of solar energy.Outcome of the innovation project will be aimed to develop technical passport of steam generator, promotional activities and launch of the product on Georgian market. Support will be used to cover costs of production of promotional materials and marketing tools.

The project is implemented in cooperation with Faculty of Architecture, Urban Planning & design at Georgian Technical University

The main objectives of the project is to turn the waste production residues i.e. biomass of cones into renewable, carbon-neutral, eco-friendly fuel – pellets, thus making our production process more eco-friendly and energy efficient. In addition mentioned project gives the solution to waste disposal problem too and it will opens new possibilities to start large scale production of alternative, carbon-neutral, renewable biofuel in Georgia.

The implementation of the project supports to make manufacturing process energy efficient and more environmentally friendly, the problem of waste deposal promotes to be solved and the project creates theoretical and practical basis for production of alternative, renewable, eco-friendly biofuel, which will diversify energy supply, reduce greenhouse gases emissions, and ultimately contribute to strengthening of energy independence of Georgia.

The project is implemented in cooperation with Tbilisi State University, Ilia state University & Graz University of Technology - Austria

The main objectives of the project is to work out the investment passport of innovative proposal, technical and economic justification and business plan for plant construction for building materials from clay shale and basalt fiber.The clay-shale, which volume only in the Durudji riverbed (Eastern Georgia, t. Kvareli) exceeds 30 million m3. According to preliminary studies from these raw materials may be produced 12 kinds of heat and soundproof building materials or their ingredients for export. For example: wall blocks, bricks, cement mineral additives, expanded clay aggregate and etc. The innovation of project is also in the raw material mixture. For getting porous materials is available natural clay-shale and also the pre-annealed additionally perlite, quartz sand, limes, soda and calcium sulfate, in the ratio of components.

The project is implemented in cooperation with SRO ‘Nanodugabi’ - Georgian Technical University; Association ‘European Studies for Innovative Development of Georgia; SRI Constriction Materials; Research Institute Glass-plastics and Fiber.

What went well?• High interest and motivation from SMEs & research institutions of

cooperation within innovation projects; • Active involvement of SEMs in the innovation voucher scheme

competition;

Where were the difficulties? • Less experience and capacities in developing of project proposals and

participating in innovation voucher competition; • The scarcity of innovative research activities in the field of RE & EE filed;• The absence of linkages and cooperation between business sector and

research institutions;

WP5: Innovation Support
