• This efficiency depends on the construction of the building. In general, older buildings have a worse efficiency rating than a newer building because of the materials used to construct the building.

• Most buildings can be made more energy efficient by improving insulation.

Rating

• This chart tells us about the amount of carbon dioxide gas released into the atmosphere through fuel and electricity use in a building. It is calculated from the fuel bills and the area of the building.

• Fuel bills can be reduced by improving the energy efficiency of the building and using solar panels on the roof or a small wind turbine in the grounds.
