GENERAL FACTS

Territory: 468 km2 in the Pyrenees with 75,000 inhabitants, and borders to France and

Spain

Languages: The official language of Andorra is Catalan, but a large part of the population

also speaks Spanish and French. € (Euro) is the National Currency.

Climate: In Andorra, the altitude ranges from 800 to 3,000 m. summers are hot and winters

cold. Thunderstorms are common in July and August. In winter, the mountains are

permanently snow-capped up from the altitude of 1,500 m. The climate is sub-Mediterranean

with a continental trend in the valleys (rain and warm temperatures) whereas it is dry and

cold in altitude.

To make a phone call: To call the U.K from Andorra, dial 00 + 44 + personal number

without the first zero (0). To call Andorra from the U.K., dial 00 376 + number.

Entry requirements: Citizens of the European Union (EU) may enter Andorra with a valid

National Identity Card or Passport and stay here for 90 days. (It should’t, have expired by

more than 5 years). The same conditions apply for minors accompanied by their parents,

unless they are registered on their passports. Minors unaccompanied by their parents need

their own valid passport.

Before departure: It is advisable that all travellers should take out travel insurance covering

all types of risks. Before subscribing, make sure it will cover you in all the countries you will

visit and with all the sports you intend to practice. Before departure, citizens from the

European Union (EU) must get an International Health Card (or form) from their local Social

Security services.

Electricity: The voltage of the electric current in Andorra is 220 V. Sockets fit plugs with two

round pins.

Drugs: You can easily get most prescription drugs and common pharmaceuticals.

Opening hours: Banks are open Monday to Friday from 09:00am to 1:00pm, and from

3:00pm to 5:00pm. On Saturdays, opening hours are from 09:00am to 12:00pm. Stores are

open from 09:30am to 1:30pm and from 4:30pm to 8:00pm. Most supermarkets stay open at

lunchtime. On some special occasions, stores will stay open till 9:00pm.

Customs franchises:

COFFEE: 1kg of coffee or 400 g of extract. TEA: 200g or 80g of tea extract. ALCOHOL: 1.5 L

Day 1 ANDORRA:

Arrival at hotel (3* or 4* ). Welcome cocktail, dinner and overnight stay in Andorra. Day 2 MADRIU VALLEY : Breakfast, half-day trek with a guide: Up to Ramio, in the Madriu valley. A very interesting tour to discover culture and nature. Since June 2004, the "Valley del Madriu-Claror-Perafita" has been listed as a UNESCO world heritage site. Departure is from a bridge located at the foot of the Madriu valley at an altitude of 1232m. Arrival is at the Engolasters lake, altitude 1622m. Duration: 2 hours. Elevation 400 m, level of difficulty: easy. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 3 LAKE OF PESSONS:

Breakfast, tour to the lake des Pessons with a guide: With its 20 different mountain lakes, the site is a wonder of nature: The lakes are at different altitudes and are a paradise for trout anglers. Departure from the parking lot of the Grau-Roig ski resort (2,100 m). The path goes right up to 2,500 m, and then reaches the lakes. Duration: 3-4 hours. Elevation: 400m. Level of difficulty: easy. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 4 RIALB VALLEY:

Breakfast, walk along the valley of Rialb to the “Blue lake” (Etang bleu) in France. This tour of the valley of Rialb is the most challenging in this programme. This trek flirts with the border; at its end you will be rewarded with a great view of a large blue lake. Time: 6 hours. Elevation: 600 m. Level of difficulty: middle. Return to hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 5 NORTH’S VALLEYS

Breakfast and fullday excursion with your guide and your coach. You will appreciate the Andorran nature driving through La Massana, Ordino and Arcalis, Pal and Arinsal. During your tour, you will discover the Andorran valleys, past and present traditional life, the tobacco fields, the churches, Romanesque art and of course the magnificent views. This is a wonderful tour. In Arinsal you’ll taste liqueurs for free. Then we will take the direction of Pal, a village where you will see the Bordas (old barns) where farmers still dry their home-grown tobacco leaves, the small Romanesque church of St Climent de Pal. Next, we will head for the Col de la Botella, alt. 2,069 m, which is the natural border between Spain and Andorra. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay. Day 6 THREE COUNTRIES – TWO CERDANYES

Breakfast. With this tour you will see 2 Cerdanyes and 3 countries (Andorra, Spain & France). We will go through Pas de La Casa and once in France pass by Puymorens to reach Llivia; Spanish enclave in France where you will find the oldest pharmacy in Europe dating from the 15th century (entrance not included). Here we’ll visit the church, also of the 15th century. We will continue to Puigerdà (Spanish territory); city of historical importance and former capital of Cerdanya. Lunch in a restaurant. Return to Andorra going trough Bellver de Cerdanya, Martinet, La Seu d'Urgell (Olympic city in 1992) and Andorra la Vella. Arrival at the hote, dinner and overnight stay. Trekking Program 2014 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

DAY 1 - ANDORRA

Arrival in Andorra, welcome drink, dinner and overnight. DAY 2 – LA VALL DEL MADRIU - RAMIO / COL JOVELL

Breakfast at the hotel. Morning tour by coach on the Ramio road to lake Engolasters. Direct walk to the "Col Jovell" (GR11) to Ramio. This section of the path passes by the side of the Madriu valley. It offers a vision of rural culture in the valleys. The Valley of MADRIU was declared national heritage of humanity in 2004. (Vertical drop 150m, walk duration 4h, easy). The coach will take the guests to the road of La Plana (La Comella). Return to the hotel for lunch. Afternoon off. Dinner and overnight at the hotel. DAY 3 –TRISTAINA LAKE / ORDINO

Breakfast at the hotel. In the morning, in Arcalis, at the feet of Mount Coma del Forat (2,226 m), we will go to the first Tristaina Lake. (depth 25m, duration 1h30, easy). Typical lunch at a mountain restaurant. Afternoon in Ordino (optional visit of museums), testimony of the culture, history and politics of the country. Ansalonga, La Cortinada, Llorts and El Serrat. (with free tasting at a local distillery). Dinner and overnight at the hotel. DAY 4 – LA RABASSA / BORDES DE PEGUERA / ANDORRA LA VELLA

Breakfast at the hotel. The forest of La Rabassa and Bordes de Peguera. The view of the Sant Esteve chapel, which dates back to the 12th century, is fantastic. We will cross the largest forest in Andorra, without forgetting the great precipice La Peguera. Later, we will also have the opportunity to see one of the world’s highest tobacco plantations. Return to hotel for lunch. Afternoon guided tour to the capital Andorra la Vella, the old district, the House of the Valleys (the parliament), (subject to availability), free time for shopping. Day 1 Lourdes Arrival late in the afternoon in Lourdes for dinner and overnight stay. Day 2 Lourdes - Andorra Breakfast, morning visit of Lourdes: the Grotto of Apparitions, the basilicas. Lunch. OS DE CIVIS VALLEY The magic of this village declared national artistic heritage and situated between two countries. We arrive, following the course of the river, along the village Bixessarri. Through the devil’s valley, we join the Spanish border and then through the beautiful valley Civís. ENGOLASTERS LAKE By road from the Comella, arrived in the village Engolasters. SANCTUARY OF MERITXELL & PAS DE LA CASE On this tour we will have the opportunity to make the geographic comparison between French and Andorran slopes. THE COL DE LA BOTELLA Since La Massana, the small villages of Pal and Arinsal, former refuges points of transhumance, now give access to the alpine ski resorts of Andorra. At the foot of Port Negro (1950m), born the natural source of the "font of Arinsal". Continue to the Col de la Botella to 2069 m, revealing the geographical borders of Spain and Andorra - 50 kms from Sant Julia de Loria - 40 km from Andorra la Vella - 25 kms of Arinsal.

THE COL D'ORDINO Leaving behind the parish of La Massana, one arrives at the outlandish valleys of Ordino, surrounded by wonderful views, meadows and green forests, we find Ordino. CANOLICH OR THE SMUGGLERS ROAD Possible from june to september. The same road used by smugglers. Departure from Sant Julia through the mountains of Mas d'Alins ascent to Col de la Gallina (the highlight of this tour 1920 m, and border point with Spain) to a virgin forest and fairly, then, arrived at Canòlich to visit the famous chapel of the Saint of Sant Julia de Loria.

LA SEU D’URGELL At 10 kms from the Andorran border, the town of La Seu d'Urgell, seat of the Bishop of Urgell, Co-Prince of Andorra and the Olympic city. Visit the lombard roman cathedral and the old town. Free time to market (only on tuesdays and saturdays). Discovery of the seat of the Olympic Games 92 (canoe - kayak) - 30 kms from Sant Julia de Loria - 40 km from Andorra la Vella - 50 kms of Arinsal.

LA RABASSA FOREST AND BORDES DE PEGUERA The panorama to the chapel of Sant Esteve, which dates from the XII th century, is fantastic. THE 2 CERDAGNE, 3 COUNTRIES The peak of Envalira, 2407 m and Pas de la Casa. La Tour de Carol with its international station, the solar oven experimental Themis, Font Romeu, sporty resort climate. Odeillo solar oven, scientific research center. This is one of the most powerful furnaces in the world after Phoenix, Arizona. The plant consists of 63 heliostats which direct sunlight on the parabolic mirror that consists of 9,500 small mirrors, with a total area of 1800 m2. The energy collected by the heliostats is focused on an area of 80 inches in diameter up to 3500 º c. MONTSERRAT The Montserrat (mountain sawtooth) is a very important symbol for all Catalans. It is almost impossible to get to know a Catalan who had not already visited this place. This mountain owes its name to the whole curiously shaped rock columns as a result of erosion, that make Montserrat a real geological unique phenomenon. Many Spanish and foreign artists were inspired by its beauty. The Virgin of Montserrat, nicknamed "The Black Madonna" (Black Madonna) because the material used for carving, is the idol of the most popular and Catalan is the Benedictine monastery in Montserrat, and indeed, the full name of the Moreneta is “Mare de Deu de Montserrat”. The Benedictine monastery became famous worldwide thanks to its children's choir of Montserrat and its voice choir, considered the oldest music school in Europe. During the Franco regime, the monastery was a stronghold of culture and of the Catalan language. FOIX AND CAVES OF LOMBRIVES AND UNDERGROUD RIVER LABOUICHE In Ariège, in the heart of the Pyrenees, in one of the richest French departments in caves, discover the underground river of Labouiche, classified site. Located 6 kms from Foix, on the main road D1, the Labouiche underground river is open to the public since 1938. In 1908, Dr. Dunac begins operations. His company has continued from 1909 to 1912 by Dr. Cremadells and in 1935, thanks to the perseverance of Sir. Salette and Cremadells, assisted by Joseph and Norbert Casteret Delteil, 3800 m of active network are discovered. From 1940 to 1943, Louis Medoc conducts archaeological research in the upper galleries of the river. Vestiges of the Gallo-roman, and a prehistoric magdalenian are thus revealed. Sightseeing, tour with commentary, is done by boat, either in both directions, at 60 meters underground on average over a distance of 1500 m (temperature 13 °). The caves of Lombrives the largest cave of the European community designed for the public is a vast underground world and has rich concretions isolated amid long galleries or rooms with magical aspects: the mammoth, the tomb of Pyrene, the throne of Bébrix , the hall of columns miles ... access by a small train on a bold scenic route. TUIXENT High mountain tourist road through the "Serra del Cadi." Changes:

In case of force majeure, the incoming agency reserves the right to alter the initial list of hotels or

apartments and will provide instead others belonging to the same category. The order of the different

tours and evening social events may be altered within the initial programme.

Cancellations:

In case of cancellation, the following charges will be applied:

A / 30 to 15 days before the journey arrival: 5%

B / 14 to 8 days before the journey arrival: 15%

C / Between 7 and 2 days before the journey arrival: 50%

D / Less than 48 hours before the journey arrival: 100%
