About the Author My name is Uyen, and I was born in 16th of December of 2000

and raised in Hanoi, Vietnam for my whole life so far. I like baking, reading historical fiction books, buying books, shopping, and writing deep quotes. I love trying new things, particularly if its food, although I am willing to try any sports, whether I get hurt or not. I love traveling and meeting life long friends. Everyday is a new day and for that I never take anything for granted and I treasure every moment I have with the people I know. My family means a lot to me, especially because I have an amazingly big family. I have two little brothers, an older sister and my mum and dad. Everyone in my family likes a specific sport and that’s probably what motivates us the most, having other family members to compete against. My friends are an important part of my life whenever I need inspiration I look at them. I always try my best because I want to make them and my parents proud too! When I write a poem, I look at “out of the box things”, like something that isn’t noticed until someone truly thinks about it. I also like writing things that come right from the heart, or something that I feel is close to me, close to home. Enjoy!

The Ba i t

A fish called Danny was late, for picking up his date, Which caused him to meet his fate, Seeing her with another mate They were about to conjugate He chased the excess weight, Over and out of the state And at that rate it looked,

as if Danny was going to inflate As he reached the gate Danny slapped him, with a slate Then also with a long krait And a hard plate But guess what said Kate, “I’m not straight!”

Waterfall Tripping over rocks

As we race with the fast flow

Sparkling with the sun

Thác Nước Vấp vào những tảng đá

Trong khi đuổi bắt dòng nước chảy

Tỏa sáng cùng mặt trời

Heat of the Sun Heat of the sun,

all coming down

With all of its fun

Heat of the sun,

Bringing back summer,

one by one

Heat of the sun,

never let us frown

Or lets us drown

not in rain, nor snow

Heat of the sun,

Racing beside us

Like a champion

that has already won

Heat of the sun,

always here,

Until it's shift is done.

Dr

on

My brother is a dragon fruit

Protective and feisty

about his bits and bobs

His cheeks smooth,

bringing out smiles,

when everything is falling apart.

His hair always spiky

and messy

always asking me to fix it

He radiantly fires through fields

Cutting through blades of grass

He constantly

reaches for bright stars,

following his dreams

even if they are sky distance away

His mind sharp and swift

dodging out of trouble

He is strong enough

to knife through any sorrow

His candy wrappers

scattered everywhere

Though sometimes spoiled,

he is always,

edible!

Dear Tangerine, On the outside,

you are a drop of lava Exploding from the center of earth

Bringing a sense of mystery, a sense of warmth

to anyone that feels the comforts, you bring

You feel as multi textured as an ice cube

All the way from Antarctica Rare and precious

Calling out for help, slowly melting away

Inside,

You bring back memories From times past,

When I would sit and look at my grandma Her hands with the needle,

moving so very fast

Inside, You feel...

Like rainbow's connected Together, in my fantasy

You smell like a light wind

Picking up the fragrance From far, far away

clouds

You taste like a bedtime story Soft and sweet on my tongue Leaving me with nothing but

Bigger and bigger dreams that make me feel as if I can do anything

Tell me,

Who are you? Do you hold the hidden secrets of the past

And the surprises of tomorrow?
