Why English for Health and Safety?
We provide all kind of qualified training and consulting in Health and Safety, and we
strongly believe that safety is about people.
We help in building a strong safety culture and in improving safe behaviours and the
safest way of thinking to managers and employees.
Communication is a key factor in
safety.
Nowadays many safety professionals
have to approach an international and
intercultural environment, in which
English is the main language.
That’s why we believe that the course English for Health and Safety
is useful for professionals in this field
Who can attend?
The course is most effective for participants who:
• have an Intermediate (B1) level of English or above; thereason is that you need the grammatical structures as afoundation for any specific language;
• have a knowledge of the Health and Safety topics in yourown native language; the reason is that this is not a courseabout Health and Safety, but it is intended to help Healthand Safety professionals to be operational in an Englishspeaking professional community.
What kind of scenarios?
In this course you will improve your ability to use your
English in / for:
• attending or managing a meeting about H&S topics;
• reading or writing a report about H&S topics;
• performing a risk assessment analysis;
• emergencies;
• giving feedback about safe behaviours;
• delivering training about H&S topics.
What kind of vocabulary?
You will improve your vocabulary in the following areas:
• Risk assessment: most common risk factors (such as chemical, heights, fire,
lifting operations, electricity, ergonomics, stress) and measures for reducing
them;
• Safety leadership: safety culture, safety communication, involving people,
giving feedback, behavioural safety
• Emergencies: how to manage them, how to behave properly
• Training about H&S: how to prepare and manage a training session
There will be “elective” areas to be individually studied:
• a specific risk area which is not taken into account in the standard program;
• a specific topic about an industry or business sector (such as transport, oil
and gas, construction, …)
Solution 1: for single professionals
Quatorial programme in general and business English
plus 7,5 individual tuition about H&S
This solution is the best for single experienced professionals or young people
wishing to improve their general and business English, whilst improving linguistic
areas specific to H&S.
The H&S scenarios to be handled and vocabulary to be improved will be defined
prior to the course to ensure the correct areas are targeted in the H&S tutorials.
Solution 2: for groups
Closed group for a Quatorial programme dedicated to H&S
(eventually plus 5 hours of individual tuition)
This solution is the best for a company or a group of professionals, with a B2/C1
level (upper intermediate or above) with the need to seriously improve the use of
English in H&S situations.
In this solution the learning path, scenario and vocabulary can be greatly
customised to the needs of a group or a company.
It is recommended that the attendees have a similar English level.
