The RoleWe are looking for a Prop Technician to assist us during our Opera Season. This will consist of x2 12 week contracts.

£37,225.76 (pro rata)

Location:London Coliseum, St Martin’s Lane, London, WC2N 4ES

Working Hours:44 hours per week (up to 60 hours, subject to scheduling)

role

To ensure that all aspects of the prop running of performances are carried out to the highest possible standards. To be professional

in dealings with colleagues and to have an understanding of both the technical and artistic requirements of the production.

Core Skills for the post

• Carry out prop cues during rehearsals and performances as required.• To update the running plots, setting notes, cue sheets as necessary.• To support the Senior Prop Technician in operation and maintenance of all relevant properties to the highest and most effective

possible standard.• To ensure that all prop running requirements are accurately set out.• To carry out all prop laundry / cleaning / washing as required.• To prepare and handle edible food as required for productions.• To carry out basic prop maintenance.• Participate in afternoon changeovers, and strike and packs if required.

Knowledge and Skills Required

Essential• Previous professional theatre experience in a prop capacity and an excellent understanding of current theatre practice.• Good maintenance skills. • The ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with colleagues and staff at all levels.• The ability to work as part of a team and independently, under minimum supervision.• A proactive, flexible, collaborative and conscientious approach to work with an open mind to new or different ways of working.• Good punctuality and the ability to set an example to others, exhibiting a professional attitude at all times.• Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work well under pressure.

Desirable• Advanced maintenance skills - scenic painting / carpentry / sewing.

• Good knowledge and understanding of current prop construction practice and maintenance.
