She was instantly popular right from the day one. Her entry was like a giftto Dow from St. Joseph’s College. Shadab was energetic, communicative and well-groomed with a unique nightingale-like voice.
Her personality was so exuberant that it was impossible for herpresence at any gathering at Dow to go unnoticed. Perhaps shecreated an unprecedented feat by winning the elections of girl’spreclinical and clinical secretary while in the second and fourthyears.
Shadab could be described as a proto-type Dowite who spent the yearsof education in most superb of the possible ways. Shadab was indisputablyacademic. She went into teaching anatomy for nearly five years at Dow andSMC. To be successful in an examination she just had to take a date andappear.
In a short span of time she cleared FCPS part I, FRCS Part I, MRCOG partI, ECFMG, FMGEMS and FLEX opening too many alternatives for apost-graduation plan. Early stay in Ireland and England was not asoul satisfying experience and she crossed the Atlantic.
She chairs the Infection Control of this healthcare system besides beingthe director HIV prevention services. Since 2008 Shadab is servingconcurrently as Clinical Associate Professor, Dept. of Medicine, New YorkCollege of Osteopathic Medicine and State University of New York atStony Brook.
Her decision was justified. In the minimum possible time she was aninternist, a board certified Infectious disease consultant and ageriatrician in New York. Since1998 she is affiliated to NassauUniversity Medical. Centre in New York.. Shadab has to her credit ahealthy list of scientific publications; she is grossly engaged as a socialactivist in the community and charity work.
She is a very regular visitor to Pakistan. She has not changed physically.A very enchanting personality, bubbling with insight; one who can argueand defend her perceptions about life.
This is one time I wish I had the skill of a writer,so that I could really do justice
writing about Shadab.I feel proud of her remarkable achievements. She was heart
of our clinical group, very sincere, helpful and dedicated to everyone she was in
touch with.Regular and punctual in clinics despite being busy in social activities.I
wish her a very bright and happy future.May almighty ASWT keeps on showering
his blessings on her.Amen.

Dear Shadab, ASA
First of all, you write so well you should express your opinions more often. I was delighted to
read your well written response. I am dismayed at your not being able to join us in Turkey. Some
other time may be. I have always viewed my friends as my extended family. We have each
other and we care. We may not express, but I am sure we will come through for anyone should
the need arise.
There is no point lamenting about cold weather, it comes with the territory, 61 inches of snow so
far and counting. Thanks for the duas, I need them, and I will do the same. Best regards to your
family. Take care.
Bashir
Thank you Shoaib for picking Shadab as POW, great personality indeed.
I got to know Shadab more closely during our stay in London. She was there before me,and
was the first person in our class I met. There is genuine warmth and sincerity in her that attracts
anyone who comes across her. Shadab was very good to me and supported me through a
difficult period . Now, I think fondly of those days
Shadab ,it was so nice to read the lovely comments our class-mates wrote for you. I am so
proud of your achievements. You left England,it was their loss.Perhaps mine as well, because I
do think about you and miss you.Do try to come to Turkey.Missed you at the last get-together in
London.
Wish you and your family good health and happiness.
Lots of Love and Dua.
Salma!

Thanks Shoaib for picking Shadab as the star of the week. She is indeed a luminary amongst
us; bright, cheerful, straight thinking, soft spoken. We both did residency from the same
program, an affliation of SUNY, Brooklyn. Upon completion of which she worked there as an
attending physician for a while. There too she left her mark, people spoke highly of her and
remembered her with fond memories.
Shadab congratulations on all of your achievements, and I sure there will be many more. It was
wonderful to see your pictures. I have said it before as well, I am not too far away, come and
visit us sometime perhaps in your travels north. Hope to hear from you soon. Take care.
PS: Plan to come to Turkey. Missed you in London.
Bashir
Dear Bashir:
ASA
Thank you for introducing me to your residency program. Where will I be without it. From the
neighborhood in Bahadurabad to just north of New York, it is very good to know that I have friends
nearby. Thanks for writing.
It was good to see you and so many people in pictures from London. I have always wanted to go
to Turkey. Can't say though that arrangements can be made at home for me to travel. It is good to
read about so many topics from you.
Wish you all the best and many duas. I hope the winter is not too harsh there.
Best wishes,
Shadab

Dear Shoaib:
ASA
Thank you so much for writing with such generosity and insight. Believe it or not reading
everything helped me too. In the fast pace of life which we seem to have adopted, we forget that
there are and have been so many things that we have to be grateful for. In reading your weekly
stars, I am often so surprised by the accuracy of your write-ups. How remarkable it is indeed to
know people from our class so well.
Wish and pray always the best for you. May your pen be always a source of strength and light.
Give my best regards to Dr. Mirza. Tell him that I often remember the poem he had recited at our
class silver jubliee celebrations. May be he can write that poem for us one of these days on this
forum.
Thanks also to those who wrote on this forum and my other e-mail. My apologies to our friends
about whom I read, enjoyed, and learnt but didn't write. Many thanks to Salma whose pictures
from years gone by in London have become an asset and such joy. I still have them too.
....And lot of thanks to those who read about me and smiled!
With best wishes,
Shadab
