When selecting a graphic adapter, hardware texturing capability is stronglyrecommended when using ENOVIA — DMU ProductsV5 that use texture mapping, in which case the amountof RAM has to be adequate for the number andcomplexity of textures to be used.

• Keyboard: A specific keyboard compatible withselected installation locale may be required fornational language support.

• Pointing device: Three-button mouse. On Windowsworkstations, a two-button mouse may alternativelybe used (the third button is emulated with a keyboardsequence). The three-button mouse is recommendedfor usability reasons. IntelliMouse (two buttons pluswheel) is an alternative to the three-button mouse onWindows workstations, the wheel acting as the middlebutton and allowing additional manipulations such aspanning and scrolling.

• Optional components and features: A SpaceBall or aSpaceMouse can be used in addition to the standardmouse to perform graphic manipulations (zoom, pan, rotate). The required drivers are delivered with thesedevices. DMU Fitting Simulator 2 (FIT) supports theSpaceBall. The SpaceBall and the SpaceMouse aresupported on both P1 and P2. While in P1, they enablegraphic manipulations (in examine or fly modes), in P2they also make it possible to move objects (parttrajectories in DMU Fitting for example).

The robustness of the overall solution is dependent on therobustness of the operating system and the hardwareenvironment used. Windows NT and UNIX hardwareconfigurations certified by Dassault Systemes for runningENOVIA — DMU Products are published at:

General Rules for Memory Requirements

The memory requirement depends on the number ofsimultaneous ENOVIA 3d com sessions; customers haveto dimension the server system accordingly.

The server dimensioning needs to take into account thememory used by the CAD/CAM process on the server.

For CATIA V5

• ENOVIA 3d com consumes 50 MB for the first sessionplus 10 MB for each additional session for an average1 MB model.

• The RAM requirement formula is the following: 50 MB+ n*10 MB+n*m MB, where n is the number ofmaximum concurrent sessions and m the average sizeof the CATIA models. Note that if several models areselected in one session, only one model remainsloaded at the same time, thus optimizing the memoryconsumption. As an example, for 10 concurrent usersmanipulating 10 MB average-size models, theminimum RAM requirement is 256 MB.

• For better response time, a graphics card can beinstalled on the server and shared in a sequentialmode between the simultaneous sessions to improve3D rendering, customers must dimension the graphicscard accordingly.

For CATIA V4

• As a rule of thumb, ENOVIA 3d com Navigator Productconsumes 40 MB for the first session plus 15 MB foreach additional session for an average 1 MB model.

• The RAM requirement formula is the following: 40 MB+ n* 15 MB + n*m MB, where n is the number ofmaximum concurrent sessions and m the average sizeof the CATIA models. Note that if several models areselected in one session, only one model remainsloaded at the same time, thus optimizing the memoryconsumption. As an example, for 10 concurrent usersmanipulating 10 MB average-size models, theminimum RAM requirement is 290 MB.

• For better response time, a graphics card can beinstalled on the server and shared in a sequentialmode between the simultaneous sessions to improve3D rendering, customers must dimension the graphicscard accordingly.

Optional Server Requirements — Server Side ForCATIA V5

• CATIA V5 server code is provided on the 3d comCD-ROM and installed by default. In order to use 3dcom in conjunction with CATIA V5 you must install 3dcom with the N3G (3d com Navigator) configuration.

• Note. The ENOVIA 3d com Navigator configurationincludes a V5 server supporting reading andvisualizing CATIA 3D data created at any level up toand including CATIA V5R8 and CATIA V4R2.4.1.

For CATIA V4

• For ENOVIA 3d com installations that will use CATIAV4, CATIA V4R2.4.1 is required. It must be compatiblewith the CATIA V4R2.4.1 prerequisites. Refer to theCATIA V4 Installation Guide for the complete list ofsystem prerequisites or refer to:

http://www.ibm.com/solutions/plm/

• With V5.8, most of the functionalities supported on theV4 server are now available on the V5 server. The V4server is still needed for customers using CDM toaccess CATIA models stored in CDM. In addition, theV4 server is needed for ENOVIA 3d com customerswho want to use the sag and comments functionalitiesof the 3D local viewer, and for using sag, comments, generation of VRML, and the use of hyperlinks, (anyURL defined on CATIA V4 documents), functionalitiesof the 3D remote viewer.

• CATIA V4R2.4.1 is installed with the following:

− CATIA.Object Manager (COMS410) required

Customer Responsibilities

ENOVIA 3d com Products AND MultiPDM Plug-in ProductsLicensing: To provide customers with additionalflexibility, all ENOVIA Portal Solutions are concurrent-userlicensed in a manner similar to license use in CATIA V5.The License Keys of Portal 3d com configurations andshareable products are installed on the server and canbe accessed by thin clients (no code is installed onclients). A license for one user gives one connection line.Any offline user is required to have a 3d com licenseaccess with which code can be downloaded. Code shouldnot be duplicated from a previous download.

Page 16: ENOVIA Portal Solutions V5.8 Enhancements in ENOVIA ... - IBM

When accessing other systems via ENOVIA 3d comProducts it is usually necessary to have a license orrequired authorization on that system. For example, towork with data in ENOVIAVPM, ENOVIAPM, or Optegra, alicense for the corresponding user role within thosesystems is needed. The ENOVIA 3D com Navigator andCAD Viewing configurations can have an optionalcorequisite loaded on the server for CAD access. ForCATIA V5, the required CAD server is included andinstalled by default. When used in conjunction with CATIAV4 it is necessary to install CATIA COM licenses on theserver. One License of CATIA V4 COM authorizes 10simultaneous connections. The ENOVIA 3d com SpaceAnalysis product has an optional corequisite of thecorresponding CATIA Space Product (5691-SPA) forCATIA V4 (with the same 1/10 ratio of users per license). If data such as CAD models are to be loaded into theauthoring system such as CATIA V5, the correspondingproduct configuration and license must be available.

The ENOVIA 3d com Web Search (part of 3d comNavigator product) function can be installed on otherCPUs besides the Portal Server to which an authorizeduser connects. The user task will use the Search functionto go through its ENOVIA 3d com Web Browser for thecorrect connection. Because of this capability the Searchfunction is restricted to users defined on the 3d comserver. This restriction applies even if the Searchcomponent is physically installed on a CPU other than 3dcom Navigator server.

ENOVIA DMU Products Licensing Principles: ENOVIADMU Navigator Configuration licenses continue asalready announced and in use within the ENOVIAPortfolio. Working under the CATIA V5 concurrent-userlicensing scheme, ENOVIA DMU products use the samemethods. This provides a consistent user seatdesignation across both CATIA V5 and ENOVIA PortalSolutions V5. ENOVIA DMU Products such as KinematicSimulation or DMU Optimizer, licensed as shareable inCATIA V5 will now also work and can be shared within theENOVIA DMU environment.

PORTAL MultiCAx Plug-In Licensing Principles: AllMultiCAx Plug-ins are licensed as concurrent-usershareable products available to ENOVIA 3d com, CADViewing, and Portal DMU users (they do not work inconjunction with Effects Management Configuration). When your profile takes a MultiCAx license, this entitlesyou to use the MultiCAx capabilities on the sameworkstation within any simultaneous sessions you areauthorized for (ENOVIA 3d com Products, CAD Viewing,or ENOVIA DMU Products). New in V5.8, all MultiCAxPlug-ins are also available and work within a CATIA V5environment.

New V5 Ordering Instructions for Custom Configurations:A new process for creating custom configurations is ineffect. The prior process used billable feature numbersgenerated under each of the configurations to representthe add-on products (AOPs). In V5.8, the ordering processis being changed. A 5693 Product ID (PID) has beencreated for each AOP. The 5693 AOP is related to the5691 configuration by a no-charge “indicator” code. Aunique Indicator Code for each AOP has been set upunder each of the 5691 configurations for which it′savailable. In the configurator, you will select the AOPsthat you need to create your custom configuration. Theconfigurator will automatically bring up the associatedAOP Indicator Codes and the 5693 AOPs to be ordered forbilling purposes. The indicator feature number and the5693 AOP must be ordered in the same quantity as theconfiguration. 5693 PIDs cannot be ordered outside of a

custom configuration. Through the use of the IndicatorCodes, the custom configuration definition will beavailable in the customer record under the 5691configuration and will continue to be licensed as oneentity. Licensing of custom configurations is unchangedwith the new ordering process.

Effective with V5.8, all new custom configurations shoulduse the new ordering process (refer to Example 1,Ordering a Custom Configuration Using the New OrderingProcess).

Note: This is still a complicated ordering process and itis imperative that you use the configurator to prepareyour order.

Migration/Upgrade Paths

Migration/upgrade paths for AOPs that were announcedbefore V5.8 are now available for ordering under the 5693AOP PIDs.

Conversion of Customer Records

Migration paths are being provided for convertingcustomer records for custom configurations orderedthrough V5.7 to the new AOP model. Migrationconversion feature numbers are available from theexisting AOP feature number to the new 5693 AOP PIDs.

Existing customer records for custom configurations mustbe converted to the new AOP model before making anychanges to the install record. All customer recordsshould be converted to the new AOP model by February12, 2003. When all custom configurations are convertedto the new AOP model, the AOP feature numbersannounced through V5.7 will be withdrawn.

To Order a Basic License for a Standard Configuration orShareable Product, specify:

• The configuration/shareable product program number• The appropriate charge option

It is a licensing requirement that each unique customconfiguration of ENOVIA Portal Solutions is assigned aunique SW serial number. All ENOVIA DMU and ENOVIA3d com products are built on custom configurations. Toprovide a unique serial for each custom configuration, aninstall record has to be created for each unique customconfiguration. The number is assigned automatically bythe IBM ordering systems each time the output from theconfigurator system is loaded into the IBM orderingsystem. The SW serial number becomes part of thepermanent Customer Record Number.

Additional ENOVIA Portal Solutions products can beadded to an already established SW serial numberthrough an MES order. Use of the MES procedure withthe IBM configurators requires that the orderingrepresentative first load the configurator with thecomplete list of unique SW serial numbers for the uniquecustomer number ordering the MES.

Example 1: A user wishes to order ENOVIA — DMUReview 2 Configuration (5691-DM2), and AOP, ENOVIADMU Engineering Analysis Review 2 (ANR), with 10 userson the AIX platform.

System Program Order

ENOVIA Portal programs for all platforms (UNIX andWindows) will be shipped under the 5628-DMU SPO. TheSPO is required for all program shipments and futureupdates.

Initial orders placed for a program type 5691 without acorresponding order or MES for the 5628-DMU SPO willeither fail order validation, or will not generate a mediashipment. The SPO is designated to the processor onwhich the program type 5691 is licensed. Each customernumber must have its own SPO.

Initial Orders: When ordering the first 5691-xxxconfiguration for ENOVIA Portal an order must also beplaced for the 5628-DMU SPO. Both the 5691-xxx programorder and the SPO must be for the same CPU systemtype/system number, and have the same scheduledshipment date.

Subsequent Licenses: The SPO must have a featurenumber for every ENOVIA Portal configuration that isinstalled or on-order. Therefore, when a configurationthat was not previously installed is ordered, the SPO mustbe updated.

To Update an On-order System: When a license for a new5691 program is ordered for an on-order system, the5628-DMU SPO must be updated to reflect the featurenumber of the licensed program desired.
