ONE

INTRODUCTION TO ENPASS

Enpass is an easy to use password-management app. Not just passwords, Enpass gives you the freedom to store allkinds of important credentials like credit cards, bank accounts, ID cards and what not. All this data will be encryptedby a master password and stored in your own device and optionally you can sync through your cloud account on majorcloud service providers.

So with Enpass, you can afford to forget all of your secret data and put your mind to better use.

From now on, you can attach the file of any format to Enpass, be it the snap of your Passport, your credit card or anyother file that you want to keep confidential in Enpass vault.

THREE

GETTING STARTED

Enpass is fun to understand and use. Throughout the manual, you will find a few tips, warnings and notes; keep themin mind while using the app.

3.1 Prerequisites

The Enpass version 5.5.1 requires Windows 10 or later.

3.2 Setting up Enpass

Here are the two possibilities and their relative ways of setting up the app.

3.2.1 As a new user

New users need to set a Master Password. It is the only password that you’ll have to remember. Here’s some advicefor thinking of a strong master password.

3.2.2 As an existing user

If you already use Enpass, you should be having a backup of your data. The welcome screen allows you to directlyrestore your existing data from a local PC or from a cloud where you synced before.

Warning: In case you forget your master password, there is no way that we could recover it for you. Hence, makesure that you keep a copy of it in a safe place.

RECORD KEEPING

Your secret information is stored in the form of records. We refer to them as Items. You can perform the followingoperations on these items:

4.1 Create

Here are the steps to create an Item:

• Tap the + sign.

• You will be provided with a list of categories to choose from.

• Let’s say, you choose- Login. You will notice a blank form. Add title, username, password and email.

Tip: To generate strong and unguessable passwords, we recommend that you use the built-in Password Generator.Every password field has its button next to it.

• Enter the URL of the Login page you’d want to be directed to when tapped. You can also customize your itemto add multiple URLs. Tap the Save icon, in the App bar at the top.

Hint: Enpass automatically puts up the icon, corresponding to some popular URLs that you enter. You can tap theicon to put another one.

Your item would be saved in its Category.

4.2 Edit

Here are the steps that will help you with editing items in Enpass:

• Open the item and tap edit button from it’s detail screen.

• You can update item values, add new fields, add TOTP, delete fields or change the icon. Tap the save buttononce you have made all the changes.

You can also re-arrange the order of the fields of any item.

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap on the over-flow menu button and then Reorder Fields.

• Press and hold any field, re-arrange it according to your preference and save the changes.

4.3 TOTP

With the version 5.1, Enpass has started supporting Time-based one-time passwords for the items (which supportTOTP service). See the steps below to enable TOTP for your logins in Enpass.

• Select the login item where you want to use TOTP.

• Now tap on the overflow menu button from the edit screen, an option to add TOTP would appear.

• Tap on the add TOTP, it’d create a new field with the name TOTP and a QR code icon on it.

• Tap on the QR code icon that appears at the right corner of the field. A Qr code scanner will appear.

Enpass runs a countdown of 30 seconds so that you know when the code expires. When the time runs-out, a new codewould automatically be generated and the countdown restarts.

4.4 Customize

You can customize or edit an item by adding new fields or editing the pre-existing fields.

4.4.1 Editing field type

You can edit field’s label and field’s type of any item as per your needs. Let’s say if you want to change Username toName then follow the steps below.

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap that field’s label.

• You can change the field-type along with its name.

• Tap save after making the changes.

• To pertain the changes finally, you need to save the item as well.

4.4.2 Adding fields

Sometimes you might need to add new fields in any template for better customization. Lets say you want to add aGmail URL. For that follow the steps below.

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap add field on the App bar at the bottom.

• Enter the new field’s name and choose the appropriate type.

• Tap save after making changes and you will see the newly added field on Edit screen.

• To pertain the changes finally, you need to save the item as well.

Important: We recommend that you keep the Sensitive mode ON for passwords or security answers. This way yourpasswords, PINs and other similar texts would stay safe from shoulder surfers when you use the app in public places.

4.4.3 Deleting fields

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap the label of that field you want to delete. Let’s say you tapped Phone.

• Field’s details will be loaded on next screen. Tap Delete icon on the App bar at the bottom.

• A warning message will be displayed for confirmation of deletion. Tap Delete to remove that field.

4.4.4 Copy Item

• Easily copy the field’s value by just double tapping on that field.

4.4.5 List of Folders

You can see the list of all the folders where the item is stored from it’s detail screen itself.

4.5 Attachments

Enpass for UWP allows you to add any type of file from your device as an attachment to Enpass.

Note: There’s restriction on uploading file more than 200 KB. Except the large image file that Enpass will compressautomatically before saving in the keychain.

4.5.1 Attach Photo

You can add the snap using the camera or from the saved photos as an attachment to Enpass by following these steps.

• Go to the detail screen of the item where you want to store the attachment. Tap on Edit.

• Now tap on the overflow menu button from the edit screen, a list would appear. Tap on Attach Photo.

Attention: Attachments are saved inside the Enpass keychain and slow-down the syncing with the cloud. It isrecommended to avoid unnecessary attachments in Enpass.

• A menu will appear prompting to take the snap manually using Camera or to select the one from Photo Library.Select any option according to your preferences and continue.

• After selecting the photo, you will be provided with the edit tools of the image in Enpass. You can use the toolsto edit the image or simply just tap on Done to bypass the editing.

• If you want to edit the image, you can use the various tools available. To crop the image, tap on the crop buttonand crop the image manually by manipulating the box surrounding the photo. You can press and drag the corners

of the box to resize it, or use your fingers to pinch and un-pinch. Resizing the box will determine what part ofthe image is kept.

• You can choose the aspect ratio from a preset list of image aspect ratios by tapping on the Aspect button. Tappingthis button will open a list of presets to choose from. The image will be cropped according to the chosen ratiofrom the center of the image.

• Tap on done after making the changes, the preview of the image will appear where you will have to add the filename and finally save the image.

Note: The attachments will not get shared while sharing the item.

Items can be shared in the following two formats:

1. Plain Text: Plain text item can be read by anyone.

2. Scrambled: Scrambled item can only be accessed by Enpass users.

Warning: Plain text poses a security threat, in case of sensitive data. Sharing private data in plain text should beavoided unless it’s an urgency.

Enpass has a built-in password generator that creates a strong and unique password every time you require one.

5.1 Generating Passwords

The password’s complexity can be altered by adjusting password recipes, i.e, pronounceable password recipe andrandom password recipe.

Here’s how to do it:

• While generating random passwords, you can decide the number of digits, symbols and uppercase letters youwant in your password, in that particular priority.

In the phone version, Enpass auto-fills your login details on websites while you surf the net. That means, no morecopy/paste of sensitive information. By the end of this section, you’d know how to use Enpass to browse throughinternet in a seamless and secure manner.

The following real-life examples should be relatable to your online experiences:

• While browsing, you landed on an interesting Twitter profile and now you have to sign-in to follow it.

• You filled a cart while shopping online and you need to sign-in to checkout.

• You need to change your password while on the go.

This list could go on and on! In all the above cases, you’d just have to click on the sign in button and Enpass wouldpick your login credentials from Enpass keychain and auto-fill them for you. Know more about it:

Enpass Browser is the app’s built-in multitabbed browser. You can surf the net the same way you’d do with any basicbrowser, except that it is built right into your password protector, so you needn’t worry about credential’s theft.

It’ll then ask, “Which item do you want to open?”, and you can simply say 1st item, 2nd itemet al according to your preferences and Cortana will launch the App, prompt you to enter master password, and willopen that item .

SYNCING WITH CLOUD

Syncing your data with cloud is not manadatory to use Enpass. It is just an option to ensure that your data staysupdated on all your devices, across all platforms. Enpass sync is as much secure as seamless its process is. Thesyncing of data is always performed offline on device, after the encrypted file is downloaded from remote cloud. Thenthe new encrypted file is pushed to the cloud.

By the term cloud-sync, we mean that your data can be synced with the cloud of your choice (check supported clouds)and not with our server as we don’t store any of your private data.

Sync creates an automatic back-up over the cloud. Hence, you can be reassured of data-restore, in case of device-damage or theft.

10.1 Supported clouds

Currently Enpass supports syncing of data across devices through your own account on following clouds where we donot store any of your data on our server.

• Dropbox

• OneDrive

• Google Drive

• Box

• ownCloud/WebDAV

10.2 Sync Timings

• Every time you unlock your Enpass keychain, an auto-sync is initiated. (If Sync is turned on).

• Auto-sync also happens after every 15 secs, while the app is in the foreground.

• When you save any change in item details or master password, Enpass waits for 5 secs and initiates an auto-sync.

Note:• Time taken in completion of a sync process depends on the data size, i.e, the no. of items in your Enpass

keychain.

• Any changes in settings are not synced to cloud (except for the master password).

• When existing Enpass users restore their data from the welcome screen of a new device, their auto-sync isswitched on, by default.

Quick unlock feature namely, PIN Code, saves you from entering your master password every time you want to unlockthe app. Users must enable device password to use Quick unlock facility.

The whole behavior of autolocking and quick unlock can be controlled by the following settings:

Lock After

The default setting is 1 minute of inactivity, which means that Enpass would be auto-locked if left unattended for 1minute.

You can change it to match your comfort.

Lock on Leaving

If the switch is enabled, the app gets locked immediately when sent to background, irrespective of the inactivity-timesetting. By default, this switch is turned on.

11.2 Sync

Following steps should guide you through the cloud sync (or restore) process:

• Select your cloud from the list. You’d be directed to the authentication screen of that cloud.

• Enter your credentials in its login screen. Grant permissions to the cloud to continue with the sync process.

• Your data would be synced successfully. Time stamps would also get updated.

• In case, you have restored your data in a new device, you’d notice the following screen at the completion ofsync process.

Anyime you can take secure backups of your Enpass data in encrypted format on your device and restore your existingbackup files.

11.3.1 Taking Backups

• Choose Backup... from Backup and Restore in the Enpass settings.

You can take backup of your Enpass data in your local device storage or in the OneDrive app.

• Every time you take a backup, a new file is created with a specific filename containing date and timestamp.Navigate to location where you want to save the Enpass data file with .walletx extension.

Your Enpass backup would be saved in an encrypted format.

11.3.2 Restoring Backups

• Choose Restore... from Backup and Restore in the Enpass settings.

• Browse to the backup file’s location and select the file to be restored.

• You might be asked to enter the master password of file to be restored.

• A warning message will be displayed. Tap Restore to continue with restoring new data. This will remove allyour previous data.

Note: The restored file would replace the pre-existing one in your device.

We suggest that you take regular backups so that data consistency is maintained among all your cross-platform devices.This way unfavorable situations such as, device theft, can be tackled. Also, if you have enabled sync, all your changeswould be auto-updated to the cloud.

Wireles Network

This service lets you take backups of your Enpass data on a PC and restore your existing backup files onto your device.

Make sure that your device and PC are connected to the same wifi and your device’s screen remains in foregroundthroughout the following process:

• When started, the Backup and Restore screen shows you an IP address of your local network.

• Using a browser on your PC, navigate to this address. The browser would show the Backup and RestoreService page.

• Tap Submit. If the Enpass data file you’re trying to restore is of version 4.5.0 or above, you would be askedto enter the master password of that file. Otherwise the file will be successfully restored on your device after aconfirmation message.

• After correct entry of master password, you’ll see a warning message saying your previous data will be over-written after restore. Tap Restore to continue.

• Enter your password to unlock the restored file.

11.4 Browser

Read Browsing and Autofill to get a brief about this feature. The following settings can be adjusted from the Browserscreen of Settings.

11.4.1 Open Links in

When you click on a link in your device, there could be three possibilities:

• It’d open in the Enpass Browser.

• It’d open in the Default Browser.

• Every time you click on a URL, Enpass would ask you to choose from the two browsers.

You can set your preference by tapping the option of your choice. By default, it is set to Always Ask.

Note: If you have a link copied to your clipboard, and you opens Enpass, you’d be prompted to open the link in theEnpass browser.

Tap on Search Engine drop-down menu in your device and you can choose the default search engine for the Enpassbrowser.

Tap on the Choose Theme bar and a drop-down list would appear. Now you can set your preferences by tapping theoption of your choice.

You can customize your sidebar by reordering or removing some of its constituents. Here’s how:

11.5.4 Unlock Feedback

By default, Enpass plays sound (and vibrates) as a feedback at the time of unlocking the app (or when you enter anincorrect password). You can toggle it off as well.

11.6.1 Erase Everything

You would choose this option to erase all Enpass data and current settings from your system.

Tip: Before erasing everything from the device, you should take a backup of your Enpass data on a cloud or a localPC.

• Tap erase everything, you’d be asked to enter your master password.

• After you enter your master password in the dialog box, you’d be prompted with a Warning message. Tap ok.

You’d reach the Welcome screen from where you can start over or restore existing data.

11.6.2 Language

By default, Enpass Matches the Default Language of your device, if it’s supported. You can also choose from a listof other operational languages.

11.6.3 Updates and Analytics

Notify me for updates

By default, Enpass notifies you about any update available for the installed version or any other important securitynews that we need to share with our users. In this process, Enpass first connects (anonymously) to one of our domain(rest.sinew.in) which contains the information of latest releases with version numbers for all platforms. The versionnumber (only) is fetched from your device using the GET query and sent to the server. The process is very safe andsecure and doesn’t fetch any other information of the user. So, it is recommended to not disable this feature.
