Welcome to the Enpass user manual for Windows. This manual features detailed guidelines to make you well-acquainted with the app’s functionality.

ONE

INTRODUCTION TO ENPASS

Enpass is an easy to use password-management app. Not just passwords, Enpass gives you the freedom to store allkinds of important credentials like credit cards, bank accounts, ID cards and what not. All this data will be encryptedby a master password and stored in your own device and optionally you can sync through your cloud account on majorcloud service providers.

So with Enpass, you can afford to forget all of your secret data and put your mind to better use.

From now on, you can attach the file of any format to Enpass, be it the snap of your Passport, your credit card or anyother file that you want to keep confidential in Enpass vault.

THREE

GETTING STARTED

Enpass is fun to understand and use. Throughout the manual, you will find a few tips, warnings and notes; keep themin mind while using the app.

3.1 Prerequisites

The Enpass version 5.5.1 requires Windows 10 or later.

3.2 Setting up Enpass

Here are the two possibilities and their relative ways of setting up the app.

3.2.1 As a new user

New users need to set a Master Password. It is the only password that you’ll have to remember. Here’s some advicefor thinking of a strong master password.

3.2.2 As an existing user

If you already use Enpass, you should be having a backup of your data. The welcome screen allows you to directlyrestore your existing data from a local PC or from a cloud where you synced before.

Warning: In case you forget your master password, there is no way that we could recover it for you. Hence, makesure that you keep a copy of it in a safe place.

RECORD KEEPING

Your secret information is stored in the form of records. We refer to them as Items. You can perform the followingoperations on these items:

Here are the steps to create an Item:

• Tap the + sign.

• You will be provided with a list of categories to choose from.

• Let’s say, you choose- Login. You will notice a blank form. Add title, username, password and email.

Tip: To generate strong and unguessable passwords, we recommend that you use the built-in Password Generator.Every password field has its button next to it.

• Enter the URL of the Login page you’d want to be directed to when tapped. You can also customize your itemto add multiple URLs. Tap the Save icon, in the App bar at the top.

Hint: Enpass automatically puts up the icon, corresponding to some popular URLs that you enter. You can tap theicon to put another one.

Your item would be saved in its Category.

4.2 Edit

Here are the steps that will help you with editing items in Enpass:

• Open the item and tap edit button from it’s detail screen.

• You can update item values, add new fields, add TOTP, delete fields or change the icon. Tap the save buttononce you have made all the changes.

You can also re-arrange the order of the fields of any item.

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap on the over-flow menu button and then Reorder Fields.

• Press and hold any field, re-arrange it according to your preference and save the changes.

4.3 TOTP

With the version 5.1, Enpass has started supporting Time-based one-time passwords for the items (which supportTOTP service). See the steps below to enable TOTP for your logins in Enpass.

• Select the login item where you want to use TOTP.

• Tap on the Edit button.

• Now tap on the overflow menu button from the edit screen, an option to add TOTP would appear.

• Tap on the add TOTP, it’d create a new field with the name TOTP and a QR code icon on it.

• Tap on the QR code icon that appears at the right corner of the field. A Qr code scanner will appear.

• Drag the scanner over the QR code on the website from which you are adding TOTP, or you can copy and pastethe secret key into the text field manually.

• Tap on the Save button.

Enpass runs a countdown of 30 seconds so that you know when the code expires. When the time runs-out, a new codewould automatically be generated and the countdown restarts.

4.4 Customize

You can customize or edit an item by adding new fields or editing the pre-existing fields.

4.4.1 Editing field type

You can edit field’s label and field’s type of any item as per your needs. Let’s say if you want to change Username toName then follow the steps below.

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap that field’s label.

• You can change the field-type along with its name.

• Tap save after making the changes.

• To pertain the changes finally, you need to save the item as well.

4.4.2 Adding fields

Sometimes you might need to add new fields in any template for better customization. Lets say you want to add aGmail URL. For that follow the steps below.

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap add field on the App bar at the bottom.

• Enter the new field’s name and choose the appropriate type.

• Tap save after making changes and you will see the newly added field on Edit screen.

Important: We recommend that you keep the Sensitive mode ON for passwords or security answers. This way yourpasswords, PINs and other similar texts would stay safe from shoulder surfers when you use the app in public places.

4.4.3 Deleting fields

• While you are at the Edit screen, tap the label of that field you want to delete. Let’s say you tapped Phone.

• Field’s details will be loaded on next screen. Tap Delete icon on the App bar at the bottom.

• A warning message will be displayed for confirmation of deletion. Tap Delete to remove that field.

• Easily copy the field’s value by just double tapping on that field.

4.4.5 List of Folders

You can see the list of all the folders where the item is stored from it’s detail screen itself.

4.5 Attachments

Enpass for UWP allows you to add any type of file from your device as an attachment to Enpass.

Note: There’s restriction on uploading file more than 200 KB. Except the large image file that Enpass will compressautomatically before saving in the keychain.

4.5.1 Attach Photo

You can add the snap using the camera or from the saved photos as an attachment to Enpass by following these steps.

• Go to the detail screen of the item where you want to store the attachment. Tap on Edit.

• Now tap on the overflow menu button from the edit screen, a list would appear. Tap on Attach Photo.

Attention: Attachments are saved inside the Enpass keychain and slow-down the syncing with the cloud. It isrecommended to avoid unnecessary attachments in Enpass.

• A menu will appear prompting to take the snap manually using Camera or to select the one from Photo Library.Select any option according to your preferences and continue.

• After selecting the photo, you will be provided with the edit tools of the image in Enpass. You can use the toolsto edit the image or simply just tap on Done to bypass the editing.

• If you want to edit the image, you can use the various tools available. To crop the image, tap on the crop buttonand crop the image manually by manipulating the box surrounding the photo. You can press and drag the corners

of the box to resize it, or use your fingers to pinch and un-pinch. Resizing the box will determine what part ofthe image is kept.

• You can choose the aspect ratio from a preset list of image aspect ratios by tapping on the Aspect button. Tappingthis button will open a list of presets to choose from. The image will be cropped according to the chosen ratiofrom the center of the image.

• Tap on done after making the changes, the preview of the image will appear where you will have to add the filename and finally save the image.

• After saving the image, you will see the image has been added to the item, you will finally need to save the itemas well to save the image in the item.

4.5.2 Attach File

To attach any other type of file (including images) from your device, follow these steps.

• Go to the detail screen of the item where you want to store the attachment. Tap on Edit.

• It will open the edit screen of the item. Tap on attach file.

Attention: Attachments are saved inside the Enpass keychain and slow-down the syncing with the cloud. It isrecommended to avoid unnecessary attachments in Enpass.

• A menu will appear providing you with various option to attach file to the Enpass. Select any option accordingto your preference and continue.

Delete Attachment

To delete any attachment, first go to the edit screen of the item and scroll down to the Attachments field. Tap the crossicon on the attachment to delete it.

• A warning message will appear, tap on delete to continue.

4.6 Duplicate

Enpass lets you replicate pre-existing items. This feature is especially beneficial when you have customized the fieldsof your items and want to create similar items. Here are the steps to help you with duplicating items:

• Tap the Duplicate button from the detail screen (overflow menu) of the item you want to duplicate.

• A new item with the text- (copy) appended in title, would be ready for editing.

• After making the changes, tap Save.

Note: The attachments will not get replicated while duplicating the item.

4.7 Search

Every list in Enpass (namely All Items, Favorites, Folders and all the categories) is provided with a search button.

Simply tap it and start typing in the text you are looking for, and Enpass would refine the results as you type.

Enpass performs deep search i.e., the search is performed not just on item titles but on all of the following details:

• Item Titles

• Field Values

• Custom created field-names

• Notes

• Attachments

4.8 Delete

You can delete an item from the following two places:

From Lists of items (namely All Items and all the category lists):

• Long press the item from the list. You’d notice a Delete button sweep in.

• Tap this message. You’d be prompted with a Warning message.

• Tap OK and the item would be permanently deleted from Enpass.

Note: To Remove an item from Favorites or some folder you can follow the same steps as above. (The item wouldbe removed only from that particular list; it would still remain in the Enpass keychain).

From item’s detail screen:

• Tap the Overflow menu button from the top-bar and select Delete.

• Tap OK from the warning screen and the item would be permanently deleted from Enpass.

4.9 Share

You will find the Share button on the item-detail screen (in the overflow menu).

Note: The attachments will not get shared while sharing the item.

Items can be shared in the following two formats:

1. Plain Text: Plain text item can be read by anyone.

2. Scrambled: Scrambled item can only be accessed by Enpass users.

Warning: Plain text poses a security threat, in case of sensitive data. Sharing private data in plain text should beavoided unless it’s an urgency.

Enpass offers multiple ways to share items:

• You can share items via mail and messages.

• To share an item using other apps such as, messengers, you can Copy it and paste within the messenger of yourchoice.

You can even share a field-value by copying it to the clipboard.

• Tap the field, you’d notice a Copy button sweep in.

• Tap this Copy button. You can paste your text wherever you’d like to (even outside the app).

4.9.1 Share Attachment

You can also share the attachment saved in Enpass via mail or the other data sharing apps installed on your device.Just follow these easy simple steps:

• Go to the details screen of the item where you’ve stored the attachment.

• Click on the attachment you want to share. You will be provided with the preview of the attachment.

• Click on the share button and a warning message will appear prompting you to continue exporting the image inan unencrypted format. Click yes to continue and you’ll be provided with the list of sharing apps. Select the oneyou want to share the attachment with, and you’re done.

Important: You must share the attachments using the reliable sources to avoid the data breach.

4.10 Category

Here are the steps that will help you to change the category of items in Enpass:

• While you are at the detail screen of the item, Choose Change Category by tapping on the overflow menu buttonin top right corner.

• You’d be provided with a list of categories. Select the the one you want to choose for the item.

4.11 Pin to Start

Open the item’s detail screen and tap on overflow menu button and then on Pin to Start. This would create the item’stile on the Start page.

Clicking on the tile would open the item’s details screen, after prompting you to unlock the Enpass.

CHAPTER

FIVE

PASSWORD GENERATOR

Enpass has a built-in password generator that creates a strong and unique password every time you require one.

5.1 Generating Passwords

The password’s complexity can be altered by adjusting password recipes, i.e, pronounceable password recipe andrandom password recipe.

Here’s how to do it:

• While generating random passwords, you can decide the number of digits, symbols and uppercase letters youwant in your password, in that particular priority.

• For pronounceable password, you can choose to use Uppercase, Digits and any one from the available seperators.

The Avoid Ambiguity button removes the following ambiguous letters from your password:

1 (one), l (small L) and I (eye); O (oh) and 0 (zero).

5.2 Password History

Enpass keeps a record of the last five passwords that you generated and used, along with their respective domainsand timestamps. This feature is especially useful when you have to change a website’s password using the Enpass

Every password you change gets recorded into password history of that particular password field and the maximumstorage limit is up-to last 5 changes.

SIX

BROWSING AND AUTOFILL

In the phone version, Enpass auto-fills your login details on websites while you surf the net. That means, no morecopy/paste of sensitive information. By the end of this section, you’d know how to use Enpass to browse throughinternet in a seamless and secure manner.

The following real-life examples should be relatable to your online experiences:

• While browsing, you landed on an interesting Twitter profile and now you have to sign-in to follow it.

• You filled a cart while shopping online and you need to sign-in to checkout.

• You need to change your password while on the go.

This list could go on and on! In all the above cases, you’d just have to click on the sign in button and Enpass wouldpick your login credentials from Enpass keychain and auto-fill them for you. Know more about it:

6.1 Enpass Browser

Enpass Browser is the app’s built-in multitabbed browser. You can surf the net the same way you’d do with any basicbrowser, except that it is built right into your password protector, so you needn’t worry about credential’s theft.

You can open Enpass Browser by tapping the browser button.

Tip: You can easily switch between Enpass and its browser. Tap the Go back to Enpass button to leave the browserrunning in background while you visit the app.

6.1.1 Autofill with Enpass Browser

The following steps would guide you on how to use the autofill facility in Enpass.

• Tap the Autofill button when you reach a login page.

• Enpass would show you a list of all matching credentials (saved by you) for that domain. Select the one youwant to sign-in with.

Tip: In case, you want to directly login using an item, tap the button that’s to the right of its URL and select EnpassBrowser from the list. WORKING WITH CORTANA

With the version 5.2.4 and later, you can use your own digital assistant, Cortana, to open and search for any item inEnpass. To use Cortana (with any App), you need to align region and language settings in your device, and done.

7.1 Using Commands

You can simply use these Cortana commands to work with Enpass:

• Hey Cortana, Open Enpass!

• Hey Cortana, Search “Title” in Enpass!

• Hey Cortana, Open “Title” in Enpass!

7.1.1 Hey Cortana, Open Enpass!

This command will direct Cortana to launch Enpass in your device. Once launched, you’ll be prompted to enter themaster password to unlock the App.

7.1.2 Hey Cortana, Search “Title” in Enpass!

This command will direct Cortana to search the items (matching the title) in Enpass.

e.g. If you command Cortana, search Twitter in Enpass, It will search and show you all the items matching the titleTwitter in search window.

7.1.3 Hey Cortana, Open “Title” in Enpass!

This command will direct Cortana to open the (matching the title) in Enpass.

e.g. If you command Cortana, open Facebook in Enpass, It will open the item (after prompting you to unlock Enpass)whose title matches with Facebook. But if there are 2 or more items saved with the same title, Cortana will show themall in the search window. It’ll then ask, “Which item do you want to open?”, and you can simply say 1st item, 2nd itemet al according to your preferences and Cortana will launch the App, prompt you to enter master password, and willopen that item .

Note: To checkout the list of all the commands that work with Enpass, simply ask Cortana, What can I say, it’ll showyou the list of all the Cortana supported Apps in your device, simply choose Enpass, and all the supported commandswill show-up.

CHANGING A WEBSITE’S PASSWORD

Following steps would help you change a website’s password using the Enpass Password Generator:

• Login to the website using your current credentials (saved in Enpass).

• Go to the Change Password option within the website.

• Switch to Enpass and copy your current password.

• Switch back to your browser and paste your current password here.

Note: Certain websites don’t ask for your current password to set a new one. In those cases, begin from the followingstep.

• Tap the Generate Password button.

• Generate a new password and tap on the copy button to copy the it to the clipboard.

• Paste it in the New Password field (and the Confirm New Password field) and save the changes.

Now that you have changed your password on the website, the following steps would help you update this newpassword in Enpass.

• Switch to the Enpass app.

• Edit that particular item and open the Password Generator by tapping its button (next to the Password field).

• Tap the new password from Password History. Your password would be updated automatically.

Tip: In case, you skip saving your new password in Enpass, you can review it from the Password History later.

ORGANIZING DATA

You can organize your Enpass data in the following ways:

9.1 Marking Favorites

Favorites can be marked in two simple ways:

9.1.1 From favorite list

• Go to the Favorites list and tap the + sign. Select from the pre-existing items or create new ones to add toFavorites.

9.1.2 From detail screen

• Tap the Star button on the item-detail screen.

Folders let you manage your data in traditional and better way.

9.2.1 Creating Folder

To create a new folder:

• Swipe to the folders screen and tap the + sign.

• Give your folder a name and an icon for better distinction.

• You can enable Show Folder in Sidebar for easy access.



• Tap save.

9.2.2 Populating Folder

Any folder can be populated with items or sub-folders by following the steps below.

• Swipe to the folders screen and go into folder by tapping its name. Lets say you choose Social.



• Tap the + sign.

• You will see various options to populate your folder with. You can add existing items, create sub-folder or createnew item and directly add that into folder. If you want to add existing items, choose existing items.



• A list of all your existing items will be displayed. Simply select the items and tap Save. All the selected itemswill be added in the folder.

9.2.3 Editing Folder

• Swipe to the folders screen. Lets say you want to edit Social folder. Long press that folder for context menuand choose edit.



• You can edit that folder’s name and sidebar visibility. Tap save after making changes.

9.2.4 Deleting Folder

• Swipe to the folders screen. Lets say you want to delete Social folder. Long press that folder for context menuand choose delete.



• If the folder is not empty you will see a warning message as below. Tap Delete to continue with removal process.

9.3 Maintaining the Sidebar

Sidebar is a crucial aspect in organizing your data. You can access it by tapping its icon from any list.

SYNCING WITH CLOUD

Syncing your data with cloud is not manadatory to use Enpass. It is just an option to ensure that your data staysupdated on all your devices, across all platforms. Enpass sync is as much secure as seamless its process is. Thesyncing of data is always performed offline on device, after the encrypted file is downloaded from remote cloud. Thenthe new encrypted file is pushed to the cloud.

By the term cloud-sync, we mean that your data can be synced with the cloud of your choice (check supported clouds)and not with our server as we don’t store any of your private data.

Sync creates an automatic back-up over the cloud. Hence, you can be reassured of data-restore, in case of device-damage or theft.

10.1 Supported clouds

Currently Enpass supports syncing of data across devices through your own account on following clouds where we donot store any of your data on our server.

• Dropbox

• OneDrive

• Google Drive

• Box

• ownCloud/WebDAV

10.2 Sync Timings

• Every time you unlock your Enpass keychain, an auto-sync is initiated. (If Sync is turned on).

• Auto-sync also happens after every 15 secs, while the app is in the foreground.

• When you save any change in item details or master password, Enpass waits for 5 secs and initiates an auto-sync.

Note:• Time taken in completion of a sync process depends on the data size, i.e, the no. of items in your Enpass

keychain.

• Any changes in settings are not synced to cloud (except for the master password).

• When existing Enpass users restore their data from the welcome screen of a new device, their auto-sync isswitched on, by default.

Enpass keeps you informed about the latest successful data sync (Last synchronized) and the latest check for changes(Last attempt).

SETTINGS OVERVIEW

Following are the Settings that you can alter in Enpass.

11.1 Security

This section deals with security of the Enpass app in your device.

11.1.1 Change Master Password

• To change your master password you’d first have to enter the old password and then set (and confirm) the newone.

• You’d be informed about the success of the password change. Tap the Ok button.

Note: If you have enabled sync, the new password for Enpass data would get updated to the cloud during next syncoperation. Also, other devices syncing with that cloud will ask for this new password from then on.

11.1.2 Autolocking and Quick Unlock

Autolocking protects your data from unauthorized access by locking the Enpass keychain, even when your device’sprivacy has been compromized.

Quick unlock feature namely, PIN Code, saves you from entering your master password every time you want to unlockthe app. Users must enable device password to use Quick unlock facility.

The whole behavior of autolocking and quick unlock can be controlled by the following settings:

Lock After

The default setting is 1 minute of inactivity, which means that Enpass would be auto-locked if left unattended for 1minute.

You can change it to match your comfort.

Lock on Leaving

If the switch is enabled, the app gets locked immediately when sent to background, irrespective of the inactivity-timesetting. By default, this switch is turned on.

Windows Hello

Enpass supports the Windows Hello in the Win 10 devices. That means you can now unlock the app with just a lookor a touch.

Toggle on the switch to enable Windows Hello.

PIN Code

Master password is set as the default authentication requirement. You can avoid entering your master passwordaltogether by using a 4-10 digits PIN Code.

Now on, you’d be asked for the PIN to unlock the app. Although, after an unsuccessful attempt you’d have to enterthe master password.

11.2 Sync

Following steps should guide you through the cloud sync (or restore) process:

• Select your cloud from the list. You’d be directed to the authentication screen of that cloud.

• Enter your credentials in its login screen. Grant permissions to the cloud to continue with the sync process.

• Your data would be synced successfully. Time stamps would also get updated.

• In case, you have restored your data in a new device, you’d notice the following screen at the completion ofsync process.

11.3 Backup and Restore

Anyime you can take secure backups of your Enpass data in encrypted format on your device and restore your existingbackup files.

11.3.1 Taking Backups

• Choose Backup... from Backup and Restore in the Enpass settings.

You can take backup of your Enpass data in your local device storage or in the OneDrive app.

• Every time you take a backup, a new file is created with a specific filename containing date and timestamp.Navigate to location where you want to save the Enpass data file with .walletx extension.

Your Enpass backup would be saved in an encrypted format.



11.3.2 Restoring Backups

• Choose Restore... from Backup and Restore in the Enpass settings.

• Browse to the backup file’s location and select the file to be restored.

• You might be asked to enter the master password of file to be restored.



• A warning message will be displayed. Tap Restore to continue with restoring new data. This will remove allyour previous data.

Note: The restored file would replace the pre-existing one in your device.

We suggest that you take regular backups so that data consistency is maintained among all your cross-platform devices.This way unfavorable situations such as, device theft, can be tackled. Also, if you have enabled sync, all your changeswould be auto-updated to the cloud.



Wireles Network

This service lets you take backups of your Enpass data on a PC and restore your existing backup files onto your device.

Make sure that your device and PC are connected to the same wifi and your device’s screen remains in foregroundthroughout the following process:

• When started, the Backup and Restore screen shows you an IP address of your local network.

• Using a browser on your PC, navigate to this address. The browser would show the Backup and RestoreService page.



11.3.3 Taking Backups

• Click on Backup in your PC’s browser.

Your Enpass backup would be saved in your PC in an encrypted file.

11.3.4 Restoring Backups

• Tap Choose File.

• Browse to the backup file’s location.



• Tap Submit. If the Enpass data file you’re trying to restore is of version 4.5.0 or above, you would be askedto enter the master password of that file. Otherwise the file will be successfully restored on your device after aconfirmation message.

• After correct entry of master password, you’ll see a warning message saying your previous data will be over-written after restore. Tap Restore to continue.



• Enter your password to unlock the restored file.

Note: The restored file would replace the pre-existing one in your device.

11.4 Browser

Read Browsing and Autofill to get a brief about this feature. The following settings can be adjusted from the Browserscreen of Settings.

11.4.1 Open Links in

When you click on a link in your device, there could be three possibilities:

• It’d open in the Enpass Browser.

• It’d open in the Default Browser.

• Every time you click on a URL, Enpass would ask you to choose from the two browsers.

You can set your preference by tapping the option of your choice. By default, it is set to Always Ask.

Note: If you have a link copied to your clipboard, and you opens Enpass, you’d be prompted to open the link in theEnpass browser.

Tap on Search Engine drop-down menu in your device and you can choose the default search engine for the Enpassbrowser.

You can clear your browser’s cookies and cache using this feature.

You would be prompted with a warning message. Tap Ok.

Tap on the Choose Theme bar and a drop-down list would appear. Now you can set your preferences by tapping theoption of your choice.

You can customize your sidebar by reordering or removing some of its constituents. Here’s how:

• By long pressing any category, you can move it up and down in the sidebar list.

By default, Enpass plays sound (and vibrates) as a feedback at the time of unlocking the app (or when you enter anincorrect password). You can toggle it off as well.

11.6.1 Erase Everything

You would choose this option to erase all Enpass data and current settings from your system.

Tip: Before erasing everything from the device, you should take a backup of your Enpass data on a cloud or a localPC.

• Tap erase everything, you’d be asked to enter your master password.

• After you enter your master password in the dialog box, you’d be prompted with a Warning message. Tap ok.

You’d reach the Welcome screen from where you can start over or restore existing data.

By default, Enpass Matches the Default Language of your device, if it’s supported. You can also choose from a listof other operational languages.

11.6.3 Updates and Analytics

Notify me for updates

By default, Enpass notifies you about any update available for the installed version or any other important securitynews that we need to share with our users. In this process, Enpass first connects (anonymously) to one of our domain(rest.sinew.in) which contains the information of latest releases with version numbers for all platforms. The versionnumber (only) is fetched from your device using the GET query and sent to the server. The process is very safe andsecure and doesn’t fetch any other information of the user. So, it is recommended to not disable this feature.

Send Analytics

We collect analytics anonymously for the stats of Enpass usage across the globe. Also enabling this option do notallow us to access your data or any other information stored in Enpass. So, this process is totally safe and secure.
