RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. The Organizers of this show have taken reasonable precaution to ensure the

health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective

everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents

occurring and must obey the instructions of the Organizers and all the Officials

and Stewards. If instructions are ignored you may be asked to leave the

show field and entry fees will not be refunded.

2. All mounted persons are to wear a harnessed hat conforming to current BSI or European

Standards. This rule will take precedence over any other governing body’s rule.

3. Entries on the day will be accepted at double the entry fee providing the section is not

fully subscribed. Current Passports must be shown on entry.

4. Any exhibitor that has entered on the day and is placed in classes 1 to 25 will not be

awarded the prize money. This will be posted after the Governing body of the said class have checked the registration of the winning animal.

5. No Entry Fees will be refunded or otherwise made available except on cancellation of

Show.

6. No substitution of exhibits is permitted

7. All Trophies are presented for annual competition and must be returned to the General

Secretary one month before the date of the next show, with the exception of the

Breeders Trophies which must be returned one month before the Yorkshire Sport

Horse Annual Dinner in November.

THE SHB(GB) BREEDERS CUP The winner of every SHB(GB) affiliated in hand class – Hunter Breeding, Light Horse Breeding

and In Hand Sport Horses - held at shows prior to the 2018 Hunter Show will qualify for The

SHB(GB) Breeders Cup Championship to be held at the 2018 National Hunter Supreme

Championship Show at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre on 3rd & 4th July 2018.

The winner of the Championship at The National Hunter Supreme Championship Show will

receive £1000 (£500 to the Breeder and £500 to the Owner). The breeder of the horse winning

the Breeders Cup Championship will receive a framed oil painting on canvas of their

championship winning horse, by Equestrian Artist Rebecca O’Dwyer, to be presented at the

2019 SHB(GB) AGM.

IRISH DRAUGHT SPECIAL INCENTIVE SCHEME

The Irish Draught Horse Society (GB) will award Special Incentive Cards to the highest placed

Irish Draught Pure Bred or Irish Draught Sport Horse in Classes 1-5, 20-24, 30-34, 36-39, 4 2 -

4 4 . To be eligible, all exhibits must be registered with or over-stamped by the IDHS (GB) on

either their Irish Draught Breed Registers or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers. Registration

numbers must be given on the entry form.

A Special Rosette and £15 will be awarded for the Highest Placed Horse bred by a breeder based in

Yorkshire (see page 3) in each of the Classes 1 – 5

the movement to go to the top of their sphere ii) Each horse is judged individually on a triangle and then walked round the ring as a class

iii) Marks are awarded for conformation, walk, trot and overall manner

iv) The Show has selected Sport Horse Judges from the recommended Panel

v) A special (SHB) rosette will be awarded to the highest placed

horse in classes 3, 4 & 5.

Class 1 SPORT HORSE BROOD MARE: Open to a brood mare with foal

at foot, or a relevant certificate of pregnancy for the following year, which may be inspected at the show. SHB of GB Registered number must be quoted on the Entry Form.

Class 2 SPORT HORSE FOAL Open to a colt or filly foaled in the current

year. Foals must be at least 3 weeks old on the day of show.

Class 3 YEARLING POTENTIAL SPORT HORSE Open to any Colt, Gelding or Filly foaled in 2017. SHB of GB Registered number must be quoted on the Entry Form.

Class 4 TWOYEAR OLD POTENTIAL SPORT HORSE. Open to any Colt,

Gelding or Filly foaled in 2016. SHB of GB Registered number must

be quoted on the Entry Form.

Class 5 THREE EAR OLD POTENTIAL SPORT HORSE Open to any Colt,

Gelding or Filly foaled in 2015. SHB of GB Registered number must be

quoted on the Entry Form.

RIDDEN SPORT HORSE

Judge: Mr S Campbell, Leicestershire

Champion £30, Reserve £20. The Yorkshire Sport Horse Trophy will be presented to the Champion of class 10-11

Class 10 THE BLUE CHIP FLAT RIDDEN SPORT HORSE – 4, 5, 6 years old and over.

Entry Fee £15 This class is a qualifier for the Blue Chip £400 Flat Ridden Sport Horse Championship. To be held at the National Hunter Supreme Championship show, Addington E C, Bucks, 3-4 July 2018. Horses to be shown on the flat, will not be Horses to be shown on the flat, will not be required to jump. Snaffle bridles must be worn. Note. Horses have to be registered with SHB(GB). Owners & Riders have to be SHB (GB) Members. Horses will not be ridden by the judge but will be required to give a short individual show of walk, trot & canter of approximately 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20 for each pace. Lengthened strides in trot and canter must be shown. Marks, all horses are required for a conformation assessment to be awarded marks out of a possible 50. Vouchers: 1st £30, 2nd £10, 3rd £10, 4th £10, 5th £10 6th £10 Rosettes to 6th place, to be provided by show., Blue Chip Cap & Qualifying rosette will be awarded to every competitor who qualifies. A horse may only qualify once and if already qualified the qualification will pass down the line. – the best 4yro, 5yro & the best 6yro & over, enabling 3 horses to qualify for the finals per qualifying class. In the event that there are no horses from a particular age group, the qualification will pass down the line. . Day Ticket = £35 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 2 show’s in the year – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid,

application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received

in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days.

Class 11 SPORT HORSE – 4, 5, 6 years old and over.

Entry Fee £15

GENERAL These classes are for young athletic horses that have the conformation and

movement to go to the top of their sphere All horses must exceed 148cm (14.2hh approx) Riders must have proof of horses age (i.e. registration document) All ages date from 1st January, e.g. a foal becomes a yearling on the first day of January following that of its birth Any rider can present up to three horses in each class Horses come into the ring individually and give a short ridden display of walk, trot and canter, of approx 1 minute, to be awarded marks out of a possible 20. Then proceed straight into the jumping phase, to be awarded marks out of a possible 10 per fence. All horses, unless eliminated are required to come back without saddles, for conformation assessment to be awarded marks out of a possible 50 Shows must select Sport Horse Judges from the Sport Horse Panel All entries in Sport Horse Classes must be on the Society’s Basic Identity Record or Stud Book Owners & Riders must be current members of SHB(GB). Day Ticket = £30 (this entitles competitors to compete at a maximum of 1 show in the year – it covers owner and rider membership together with horse registration for that show). If the class is a qualifying class for RIHS, in order for the qualification to be valid, application for full owner/rider membership and horse registration must be received in the SHB(GB) office within 14 days.

Four Year olds, maximum height of fences 90cms (2’ 9”)

YORKSHIRE SPORT HORSE (SHB OF GB) PREMIUM AWARDS FOR 2018

QUALIFYING SHOWS FOR ALL AWARDS

NB – to be considered for a premium in 2018, you MUST pre-register your stock on one of our REGISTRATION FORMS. These are available either online or from our General Secretary, Mrs Jo Rooke, Beeches Farm, Tollerton Lane, Newton-on-Ouse, York, YO30 2DQ

REGISTRATION IS COMPLETELY FREE OF CHARGE. This scheme was introduced three years ago and has saved endless confusion. These registrations forms should be completed as early as possible and returned to Yorkshire Sport Horse. We shall continue to include Sport Horse classes as well as Hunter Breeding classes in 2018.. It is likely that there will be no Yorkshire Sport Horse Committee presence at qualifying shows. Results will be obtained from the secretary of each participating show. No results will be published online until the end of the season. Premium vouchers and rosettes will be awarded at our Annual Dinner at the Bridge at Walshford on 23th November 2018. Hunter Breeding Classes: Otley, Hambleton, GYS, Driffield, Huby and Sutton on Forest, Ryedale and Yorkshire Sport Horse (double points awarded at this show only), and National Hunter Show Sport Horse Classes: Hambleton. Bramham, Huby and Sutton on Forest, Malton, Yorkshire Sport Horse (double points at this show only), and National Hunter Show.

BROODMARE VOUCHERS

A broodmare voucher worth £100 and rosette will be awarded in the Broodmare class(es) to the highest placed broodmare (1ST, 2ND OR 3RD placed) certified in foal OR with own foal at foot. The owner of the mare to reside in Yorkshire and the voucher to be used on any currently registered SHB (GB) graded stallion in either 2019 or 2020. The voucher is not transferable and no mare to win more than one voucher in each section (hunter breeding and sport horse), in any one season.

BREEDERS’ PREMIUMS (FOALS AND YOUNGSTOCK) 1. Premiums – Foals A stallion voucher worth £50 and rosette will be awarded to the breeder who must reside in Yorkshire, of the best foal (1st, 2nd or 3rd placed), sired by a graded SHB (GB) stallion currently registered in the year of covering OR out of an SHB graded mare. A foal may win ONE premium only in each section (hunter breeding and sport horse), in any one season. 2. Premiums – Young Stock A stallion voucher worth £50 and rosette will be awarded to the breeder who must reside in Yorkshire, of the best yearling, two-year old and three-year old (1st, 2nd or 3rd placed), sired by a graded SHB (GB) stallion currently registered in the year of covering OR out of an SHB graded mare. A horse may win ONE premium only in each section (hunter breeding and sport horse), in any one season 3. Payment There may not be a Yorkshire Sport Horse presence at any of the qualifying shows. Results will be obtained from the relevant shows and breeding details verified with Sports Horse Breeding of GB. The stallion voucher will then be sent to the breeder of the highest-placed (1st, 2nd or 3rd) animal in each class.

BREEDERS’ CHAMPIONSHIP These awards will be presented at the YSH Annual Dinner

HUNTERS 1. Broodmare Championship The BREEDER of the Champion Hunter Broodmare will receive a Trophy. 2. Foal Championship The BREEDER of the Champion Hunter Foal will receive a Trophy. 3. Young Stock Championship The BREEDER of the Champion from 1,2 and 3-year-old classes will receive a Trophy.

SPORT HORSES 4. Broodmare Championship The BREEDER of the Champion Sport Horse Broodmare will receive a Trophy. 5. Foal Championship The BREEDER of the Champion Sport Horse Foal will receive a Trophy. 6. Young Stock Championship The BREEDER of the Champion from 1,2 and 3-year-old Sport Horse classes will receive a Trophy. These prizes are awarded at the end of the year to the Broodmare, Foals and Young Stock who have gained the most points at qualifying shows, I.e. 3 points for First, 2 for Second, 1 for Third. In the event of a tie, the horse with the most wins will take precedence. All Administration for this scheme is handled by Yorkshire Sport Horse (SHB of GB) and not the individual shows involved. Sport Horse Breeding of Great Britain

Brood Mare Premiums - The Society offers 3 Brood Mare Premiums at this Show. (The

premium will only be awarded if there are a minimum of three mares for it in the class)

The Premiums take the form of a service voucher valued at £100 awarded at the Judge’s

discretion to their selection from the monetary prizewinners, to be used towards the cost

of covering the mare by any SHB (GB) graded stallion or life approved premium stallion.

The service voucher may be used in either of the two years following the year of that

award. The owner must be, or become, a fully paid up member. NOTE: Grade 1 and 2

mares are eligible to be transferred into the new SHB of GB Stud Book.

IMPORTANT: Exhibitors must insert the name of the sire of the mare’s 2018 foal on the entry form.

These classes are open to both Pure and Part Bred animals. Every animal to be registered, or in case of foals be eligible for entry in the Stud Book,

Grade Registers or Part Bred Register of The Cleveland Bay Horse Society. Those first registered with another society must have their passports over stamped by CBHS to compete. www.clevelandbay.com.

A rosette will be awarded in each class to the highest placed pure or part bred after

the winner.

before. To be shown In Hand. Class 26. Brood Mare with foal at foot. Class 27. Pure or part bred Foal Class 28. Young stock, Colt, Filly or Gelding born in 2015, 2016 or 2017. In the event

of sufficient entries this class will be split into age groups .

BLUE CHIP & IDHS (GB) £2,000 CHALLENGE 2018

This show is a Qualifier for the Blue Chip & Irish Draught Horse Society (GB)

£2,000 Challenge. The highest placed horse (not already qualified) from each of

the following classes 30-34, 42-44 that is registered or eligible for registration on

the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Registers, i.e. with a minimum of

25% proven Irish Draught breeding, will qualify for the Final of the Blue Chip &

IDHS (GB) £2,000 Challenge. Horses need not be registered with the Irish

Draught Horse Society (GB) to qualify but must be on the IDHS (GB) Registers by

the time of the Championship which will be held at the IDHS (GB) Annual Breed

Show on 18th – 19th August 2018 at Arena UK, Allington, Grantham, Lincolnshire.

NG32 2EF. NB: A horse may only qualify for the Final once, regardless of the

type or number of classes won, placed in or entered. Each qualifier will receive

a card and a £10 voucher from Blue Chip. Qualifiers are required to complete

an online form at www.idhsgb.com to inform the IDHS (GB) that they have

qualified for the Final. In the Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 prize

money, a trophy and a BlueChip rug. The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500

and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each. In addition, the highest placed

Pure Bred Irish Draught will be awarded a trophy and £100 and the highest placed

158cm (15.2hh) and under will receive a trophy and £50, the highest placed Sport

Horse will receive a trophy and £50, and the highest placed *Amateur Produced and

Ridden Horse will receive £50 a silver salver and a rug.”

The Polly Coles 4 & 5 Year Old Ridden Hunter Championship – The top three horses from every SHB(GB) 4 year old ridden hunter class and the top three 4 or 5 year olds in any SHB(GB) Novice Ridden Hunter Class, held at shows prior to the 2018 Hunter Show will qualify. Qualification will not pass down the line. At the final to be held at the SHB(GB) National Hunter Supreme Championship Show the highest placed 4 & 5 year old will each receive £1000. At the Championship 4 & 5 year olds will be judged separately.

year old or over. To be bred in Yorkshire. Breeders name to be

Class 39 is a 2019 qualifier for the Royal International Horse show.

Class 39 AMATEUR HUNTER Gelding or Mare four years old or over, to be ridden by an

Amateur, as defined in the 2018 SHB of GB Rules. SHB of GB registered

number must be quoted on the entry form. The two highest placed smalls,

the two highest placed lightweights, the two highest placed

middleweights and the two highest placed heavyweights will qualify. Day

Open to registered SHB of (GB) and non registered horses. A Special Rosette and £15 will be awarded for the Highest Placed Horse bred by a breeder based in Yorkshire (see page 3) Final Line up may be split on age depending on number of clear rounds.

WORKING HUNTER CLASSES 42-44 WILL BE RUN IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE GENERAL RULES AS SET OUT

Class 44 CUDDY WORKING HUNTER A Mare, Gelding, or Stallion (competing stallions must

have a red, white and blue ribbon displayed in their tail) . For horses exceeding 148cm. Grade A Show jumpers & Advanced Eventers as at1st January in the c u r r e n t year are not eligible to compete. To be judged 60% for jumping performance,40% as for Hunter Classes. The jumping to be judged 40% for actual jumping and 20% for style and presence. Ride and conformation 40% There will be between eight and twelve fences with a maximum height of 1.14m (approx. 3ft 9ins). ) The course must contain a combination and should contain a water tray. This class will be judged in two parts. Part One (Jumping) will be judged first, without a jump-off. All clear rounds and any other horses the judges may require will go forward to the next part. A rider can ride up to two horses in the jumping phase but then must select only one horse to take forward

into the ride and conformation section if so required (no change of rider is allowed). Both number and height will be at the discretion of the judge. Fences should have a natural appearance and not be easily dislodged and all obstacles are to be numbered. The manner of going to be taken into account. No change of rider or tack will be allowed. (Unless a horse is ridden under side- saddle, in which case, in order to allow the judge to ride, the saddle may be changed for the riding phase only)Horses are allowed to wear protective boots of a plain colour in the jumping phase only. No hind boots or bandages of any description are allowed in the collection ring, warm up area or in the actual class. In the event of equality, the conformation mark from phase II will take precedence, followed by the ride mark, followed by the style mark.

SECTIONII Jumping. NO time will be allowed between these sections for any

adjustment to tack or rider’s dress. Maximum height of fences 0.90m (4

years) 1.05m (5 years). Fall of horse or rider or a total of 3 refusals will

result in elimination. Note: fence height at Final 1.00m (4 year olds) and

1.10m (5 year olds).

SECTION III Conformation (12 Marks) & Quality (8 Marks). NB Following Section III, the ten

horses with the highest marks will proceed to Section IV. In the event of

equality of marks at this stage the horse with the higher jumping mark will be

given precedence. Should this still produce an equality of marks, all horses on

that same jumping mark will come forward.

SECTIONIV Suitability & Potential. Only the top ten horses are required for this section where they will be judged for potential international quality to make a WORLD CLASS THREE DAY EVENT HORSE. The 5 year old horses will be required to gallop one at a time. The 4 year olds will only be required to show a forward moving canter indicating they could learn to gallop with further development and maturity. It is the responsibility of the rider to ensure they present themselves in time for this section which usually takes place 10-15 minutes after the last horse. Note: in the event of equality of marks at the end, i.e. after all four sections, the jumping mark will be given precedence. Should this still produce an equality of marks, the highest mark attained in the final section will be the deciding factor.
