ADVOCACY

The Vision Fort Wayne Design Center and the protects produced were done in a team of five. My involvement as Design Team Leader and Co-founder was to create the concept of the project proposal, create the program, lead the design, and coordinate all the moving parts of our clients with moving towards a successful product.

The design problem was to compose a scheme for a 200 unit housing development. We wanted to sell the idea of creating a unique urban living option of townhouses and apartments that had indoor and outdoor access. All the while breaking the conservative tendencies of the city.

2013 Summer Professional Group Work

Five overall design ideas were stressed in the presentation being urban relation to historic brownstone development, open floor plan, sub grad parking, public courtyard, and semi private/public patio/roof top areas. These characteristics of the design allowed for future flexibility in use, a unique living option in the city, connection with

surrounding environment, and added space from semi public/private space. The project heavily influenced the future use of the site and gave great incite into the design and potential of the development. The project will be used as a tem-plate for developers for the bidding process later this year, 2014.

Having a mixture of townhouse and apartment style of living was aimed at adding variety to chose and used to create a diverse community. The townhouse portion of the development would have an option for ownership as well as rent. We also saw the potential for future com-mercial space to acquire property on site.

The open floor plan & option of purchase was a critical feature to the design.

ADVOCACY

2012 Summer Professional Group Work

The Vision Fort Wayne Projects team was lead by myself to revive a “dead” development proj-ect. We used our modeling, rendering and pre-sentation skills to create a project that gave the city vision on a vacant site within the downtown could be utilized as. We were successful in mov-ing past site location to our proposed site.

Eventually culminating in site purchase and $71 million investment to construct headquarters for the Ash Brokerage firm. My efforts were criti-cal in developing project program, presentation, concept, modeling and overall vision and goal of the project.

The Estopinal Competition was a partner based project that had the interesting challenge of creating a boutique hotel and culinary school at Panam Plaza on Georgia St. in downtown India-napolis. The site is situated on a critical gathering space for events at the convention center, Bank-ers Life Fieldhouse, and Lucas Oil Stadium.

We were approached to devise ideas on how to better utilize the plaza and the recent activation of Georgia St. especially for the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis. My involvement included project concept and development, modeling, diagrams and rendering.

The master plan of Indianapolis was based off of L’ Enfant’s planning scheme, similar to Wash-ington D.C. We wanted to stress one of the lost diagonals which originally ran through the middle of our site. The concept was to create an inte-rior pedestrian street inside the main lobby that could be utilized by the public during the winter

and during large events in the plaza and on Georgia St. The Culinary school, being on the smaller portion of the arcade would have access to sell and display culinary product and double as a market area as well.

ARCHITECTURE

2012 Spring Undergraduate ARCH Individual

The Seymour, Indiana Cottage Design Project addressed a need for a private residence in southern Indiana in a wooded area. Dealing with typography and the natural surroundings was critical. The house was not intended to be a per-manent dwelling space but rather for visits from a small family.

The class required to quickly design the home then immediately begin the construction docu-ment phase. The project consisted of a 3D physi-cal model along with a full set of construction documents, and presentation boards to present ideas and process.

2013 Fall Graduate Masters of U.D. Individual

The Urban Connection study on Fall Creek Blvd. was a transportation driven development proj-ect, My research focus has been on the natural setting of Fall Creek and the past, present, and future development. Analysis of the natural land-forms situations along with the historic George Kessler Plan from the early 1900’s

informed the development strategies. By formu-lating the development strategy around natural factors the intention is to create a unique healthy community that is integrated with a trail system, riparian corridors along the creek and the existing infrastructure of the neighborhood. The next phase in the project is to develop site specific solutions.

F.C. Aquatic Center The intention of this neighbor-hood is to capitalize upon the aquatic orientation of the devel-opment towards the creek and also provide a recreational hub for residents and visitors from outside the area.

F.C. Transit Center The Purple Line (BRT) on 38th St. along with a proposed LRT line along existing rail lines will be housed here at the corner of Fall Creek and 38th. This area becomes a major hub for north/south and east/west travel.

Kessler Preserve A neighborhood that aims to preserve the natural habitat in the area of Fall Creek and Key-stone but also highlight the origin planned area of George Kessler.

Sutherland Hills This particular neighborhood has a unique topographical situation and is much higher than the surround-ing around. Terraced housing and mixed use development oriented towards the creek by extension of the traditional grid help to grab the natural views of the area.

Historic Fall Creek Place This section of housing is be-tween Central and College. It has some of the most beautiful creek side housing and not to mention some of the best his-torical housing. By reviving these homes and enhancing connec-tion to the creek. Once again this historic neighborhood can be brought to prominence
