Municipal Solid Waste Management Project
Garbage mounds rotting in the streets create an unhygienic environment for a city’s inhabitants
The gravity of the problem is increasing rapidly in Metropolitan cities in particular
This is mainly due to massive migration of people form rural to urban regions
Ever-increasing population is causing an overburden upon the basic amenities including solid waste management
Municipal Solid Waste Municipal Solid Waste Management ProjectManagement Project
A UN Report of 1995 states that 40 percent of the India’s total population will be clustered in the Indian cities by the year 2025
Thus Urban India is on the brink of massive Waste Disposal Crisis
MSW Management Rules of 2004 are barely enough even to maintain a system of waste collection and disposal
One Person’s garbage is another One Person’s garbage is another person’s poison !person’s poison !
Dealing with e-waste is becoming a major problem in the Indian citiesE-waste consists of old computers, television sets, refrigerators, electrical equipments and mobile phonesDeveloped countries produce tonnes of these wastes every year and ship these out to developing countries for disposalE-waste contains several hazardous and toxic materials like lead, mercury, cadmium, antimony, PVC plastics and PCBs
EE--waste………….waste………….
All these components are extremely dangerous to the human health and to the environmentTonnes of e-waste is landing along the Indian ports every year for recyclingMost of these are coming from the European countries, especially from the Britain and also form the US
