Conservation is an ethic of resource use, allocation, and protection. Its primary focus is upon maintaining the health of the natural world: its, fisheries, habitats, and biological diversity.

Secondary focus is on materials conservation and energy conservation, which are seen as important to protect the natural world. Those who follow the conservation ethic and, especially, those who advocate or work toward conservation goals are termed.

Definitions


1. Bicycle RidingBeyond getting green, people choose to ride

bicycles for many different reasons—it could be to save money on the commute to work, for fitness (instead of driving to the gym to use an electric stationary bike), or to visit a friend in the neighborhood. Regardless, the choice favorably impacts the environment several ways, in addition to reducing CO2 global warming.

Why you should Ride a bicycle:I). Reduce carbon emissions – According to the Environmental

Protection Agency, a car driving an average of 12,500 miles per year will expend 11,450 pounds of carbon dioxide. That’s nearly one pound of carbon dioxide, the greenhouse gas responsible for CO2 global warming, for every mile driven. If you choose to ride your bike to work just one day a week, you can reduce your contribution to CO2 global warming by 20% annually.

II). Reduce the World’s dependence on fossil fuels – Every gallon of gas you put into your car comes out of the ground. Recent events, including political unrest in oil-rich countries and the environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, show the high cost we pay for this dependence. If you use bicycling as one of your ways of getting green, you’ll minimize your own dependence.

III). Decrease the need for more roadways – While you may not be ready to trade in your car, every day you stay off the roadway reduces the need for your space. If others also choose to bicycle some days, cumulatively there is less need for our ever expanding highway system. That means more trees, more open space, and less resource needed to build the roads.

IV). Reduce landfill waste – One of the encouraging green facts

is that 75% of the parts of a car are recyclable, but Argonne National Labs estimates there are still at least 3 million tons of non-recyclable shredder residue head to landfills each year. If you bicycle more, you will create less wear and tear on your car, which means you can keep it on the road (or in your garage when you’re biking) longer and reduce your contribution



2.Driving Eco-friendly carsThere are currently four main stream options

of cars available for us today other than petrol and diesel models. These are CNG, LPG, Electric and Hybrid models. Many cars brands are taking interest in introducing these eco-friendly cars.



A. CNG Model CarsToyota a well-known car brand had introduced Corolla Altis CNG

The specialty about this car is that it is powered by a 1-8 liter petrol engine. And has a maximum power output of 132bhp. The CNG cylinder used in this car weighs 12 kg is fitted in the boot. The other specification for this car is its safety features and high mileage.

B. Cars with LGP KitsLPG kit is now available with maruti’s hot-selling new Wagon R

Duo. In this type of car every first km of the journey is covered by the use of petrol engine and then the engine shifts its mode from petrol to LPG. In this car the position of the LPG cylinder and spare wheel is so adjusted that there is sufficient space for luggage in the boot. The low price of Wagon R Duo at makes it a practical buy.



C. Electric CarsThese cars are known mostly of their zero emissions. These are pollution free

cars. In Countries like India, there is a great need of these cars. But only Mahindra Reva is the only car of such category sold in India. There is a lead- acid battery fitted in this car. About which the company claims that, it gives a range of 80 km per charge. Normal wall socket is required to charge it up. It takes 2.5 hours for it to charge 85% and full charging takes 8 hours.

D. Hybrid CarsThese are my favorites, as hybrid cars are loaded with many advantages. These

cars come with a rechargeable battery system. This battery system cuts-off the fuel emissions when the car draws energy when gasoline or diesel is not functioning. These cars are best for environment as they can reduce 90% of smog. Most electric cars cannot go beyond 50-60 mph but hybrid cars can go faster than this. These cars are also named as ‘CARS OF THE ERA’.

Toyota’s Pius Hybrid is among the most fuel-efficient cars. It gives a mileage of 19.3 km/l on city and 20.4 km/l on highway.



3. Product RecyclingDefinition: Recycling is processing used materials

(waste) into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials, reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution (from incineration) and water pollution (from landfilling) by reducing the need for "conventional" waste disposal, and lower greenhouse gas emissions as compared to virgin production.

Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" waste hierarchy.

Benefits of Recycling 1. Saves Money: The amount of money actually saved through recycling

depends on the efficiency of the recycling program used to do it. The Institute for Local Self-Reliance argues that the cost of recycling depends on various factors around a community that recycles, such as landfill fees and the amount of disposal that the community recycles. It states that communities start to save money when they treat recycling as a replacement for their traditional waste system rather than an add-on to it and by "redesigning their collection schedules and/or trucks.

2. Saves Tree: If you recycle paper, you save trees, which in turn reduces the amount of carbon dioxide in Earth's atmosphere and reduce global warming. Trees photosynthesize, where they take in carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and give out oxygen. Carbon dioxide is the main reason for global warming as it traps the Sun's heat in Earth's atmosphere.



3. Saves Energy: If you recycle aluminum, you save energy, as it takes much less energy to melt cans into fresh aluminum. Most energy comes from electricity produced by burning coal, so you cut down on carbon dioxide.

4. Reduces on the Carbon Emissions to the Atmosphere: Recycling helps the environment by reducing our carbon emissions. It helps save trees and keeps animals alive because some animals need trees to survive. Recycle items will help the earth and human being by slowing down the process of global warming and things will not be used up as quickly. If you recycle then less rubbish will go to landfill.
